LOL Great song--and along with "Caliafornia Nights"--my favorite song by Leslie. Singers today are just as good as back in the day, but they sing such terrible songs. That stupid moaning of Mariah Carey....I'll take the "woo-oo, woo-oo" in the back ground of this song that languishes in its own humor any day of the week.Singers of today, sing better songs.

This is one of my favourite records. It contains that great Lesley Gore-Bob Crewe sound so reminiscent of his Beach Boys work and the California sound he created.

This is a musicians song for other musicians. Very sophisticated single for its time. I wish they would issue a cd with all of her Bob Crewe work especially that of the Crewe label from after her Quincy Jones Mercury Days....where is the great "Back Together"?..

I remember thinking this was a nice Record but just a little too close in sound to CALIFORNIA NIGHTS - And I do think that BRINK OF DISASTER was a better effort albeit ignored by radio stations - why wouldn't DJ's give more air time to LESLEY in 67-68 when she was obviously trying to put out interesting and well produced Records??

DJs ignored Lesley probably because she had been away from music scene for some time attending Sarah Lawrence College. When she graduated in 1968 she had no career left , so to speak. From the start, Lesley limited her appearances and recording sessions around school.. it came first.

There is a long story behind the release of this song after the powerful and explosive success of "California Nights" which was a top ten success in most markets.

This was not the recommended follow-up from any source except Bob Crewe. It proved a disaster, and the stations would then not touch a LG record in 1968-69, despite how good they were. Listen to "Brink of Disaster", the next single. A great commercial song doomed because of this colossal failure. Ah, what could have been!
