  • So Beautiful...

    I am very touched!...

  • can you please explain to me the meaning of this song

  • "It is they who taught me & opened my eyes to your love, yet gossiped about us when we met/ They taught me to love you and then blamed me for it" This is a translation of the first few lines that I got from my arabic speaking friends. Basically, the song is a lamentation of a rejection by friends when two lovers fall in love. I'm sure someone else will be happy to expound a little more on the theme of the song for you. :)

  • Yes it's true this song is from movie Safarbarlik which documents the suffering of the Lebanese people during World War I.

This song is about a couple who were cajoled into falling in love but when they did, they were blamed by the hypocritical society around them, all to the poetic lyrics and pleasant voice of Fairuz.

  • seems things havent changed much in lebanese society.

  • Lool I couldn't with you more.

  • they taught me themselves have taught me, about loving you they've opened my eyes,

and we met and we were gossiped about,

On the days of roses my heart's melting,

how we were and how the age was sweet,

what has happened, what have changed the beloved the folks: they passed by my door but did not speak to me. and they blamed me.

    on your love

  • thank you! that is very helpful to know the lyrics! God bless you.

  • Verse 2

Over the days of roses, my heart's melting --- 3a iyyam el ward 2albi dayib

{Oh How we were, and how the age was sweet --- > Kif kinna wo kan el 3omor tayib} x2

What've happened, what changed the beloved ones : they passed by my door but did not speak to me.---> sho jara sho ghayyar el 7abayib, mar2o 3a babi wo ma 7akoni

    (Repeat verse 1)

  • Verse 3

oh bird of spines , your folks have wandered ---> ya 3asfor el shawk ahlak daro

In this sky and I do not know where they have reached now--- > Bi hal sama wo ma ba3rif way saro

The pointed/directed me to the path of love and they flew, --- > dalloni 3a darb el hob wo taro

And to the path of patience they did not (show)direct me -- wo darb el saber ma dalloni

    Repeat Vers1 (refrain)

  • They taught me to love you. They are the ones that taught me. On your love they opened my eyes, and so we met and they talked about us. They taught me your love and for it they blamed me.

  • une voix qui coule comme l'eau vive d'un ruisseau...c'est beau...

  • sometimes keeping quite is better than talking to show the great value of the thing.... upon Feiroz we should not talk...

  • فيروز ياما عطرتي حياتنا بصوتك الجميل والكلمات العذبة والبسيطة التي تلامس الانسان في داخلنا . تحية كبيرة الك يا أم زياد من شادي الاردن

  • Greece adores her and she came to Athens to sing last summer they honoured her. All the best Lebanon. I feel very close to Lebanese people.

  • We feel close to you too.

    Viva Ellada.

  • Efhkharesto felo mou. Agapo Elada poly. This song is from Saferbarlek, a movie that documents the suffering the lebanese when the turko attacked them and caused massacres among them and great injustice.

  • True, but I was trying to be objective:) also, the Turkish rule of Lebanon lasted 400 years and while it was oppressive it was also wise and had some good points.

That having been said, 1/3 of the Lebanese people died in WWI, of famine, disease, or killing.

  • Comment removed

  • @yanmich the Lebanese and the Greeks have a long history of trade and genetic combination :)

  • @MrSweetlife92 the genetic combination is more apparent in lebanon, that's why women are so beautiful!

  • @yanmich lol yeh.. all in all the eastern meditterranean up to armenia people are very very similar

  • All time #1 female Arabic singer. Beautiful voice!

  • They should elect Fairouz as the next Lebanese President. What a Lovely lady she is, a true talent.

  • Also for benjamin flower............itsn't it nice that we use English, so that we share with those who are not Arabic? Nicer for everyone to have a common language to understand each other.

  • i have a question.. if most of you are arab why are you all speaking english instead of arabic??

  • not all of us have arabic keyboards! Duh!

  • There are 2 reasons that most of people i guess live out of Middle East like me (Canada) so we don't have Arabic Keyboard

And we would like to people around the world to know about fairouz or and what we think about it or something else... :)
