Things weren't always like that in SE Asia. While poverty & discrimination have always been a factor, prior to the 1970's, Hmong in SE Asia were no worse off than they were in China. Then the two super powers decided to use Indochina as their chessboard, & all hell broke loose. America is the lesser of the two evils, as it accepted hundreds of thousands of Hmong who risked their lives for it. The Soviets/Russians never gave a hoot about Hmong, & is still the largest arms supplier in the region.
