This album (The Fragile) is easily the pinnacle of Trent Reznor's achievement. Its almost like Trent got out all of the frustrations that made his music so groundbreaking on this album and left nothing for the future. Which is fine by me!
Funny how a lot of his 'good' music shall we say, came from a dark and scary place and after he cleaned up and got sober a lot of what made his music 'good' seemed to be gone. I like to think hes just wrote from that place so long that now he is on the other side it is just taking a bit of a learning curve to get out the good ideas.
I believe the creative juices are still there it was just so heightened during his time of despair that music was the only outlet, he probably felt like the world was crumbling slowly around him. And probably felt safe from the darkness once he stepped into that booth and sang his little heart out. Probably the only thing that felt like any good or real in a world that is shit.
People saying that Trent is stupid, well you are pretty dumb to say that. The guy can create all this great music on his own in the studio. There are not many artists out there that can make an entire album by themselves.
@WhiteFoxDubstep There are not many main stream artists that are able to play all the instruments and sing on their albums. Trent is really one of a kind. He will never be replaced. I did not personally call Trent stupid. I have been a NIN fan since 1994.
