  • I bought this trigger and i was so dissapointed,i don't believe you go that far,75 feet and that's about 23 meters,i was only like 10 to 15 meters with a wall and this trigger won't fire my flash anymore, without the wall it would misfire from 10-12 meters multiple times, don't buy this junk,i should've settled for RF 603...

  • where did you get them from?

  • @gravytrain1995 I got mine from Midwest Photo Exchange. An on-line retailer. I don't normally order stuff from them but they had the Cactusv4 in stock and had a good price. All the best.

  • I want your Cactus Triggers.... mine suck, failure to fire rate is through the roof.

  • Banding noise with EOS5D. I know they fixed it, but it is hardly helpful since I can not exchange it anymore and require making another purchase.

What is even more annoying is that 5D was on the market long time before this system was concieved and no proper testing has been done.

+1 on battery cover being rubbish, and also the hotshoe on receiver is too tight.

  • Is it ettl if u put the flash directly on t

  • @Smalskin Only in Manual mode (flash) not ETTL

  • thank you so much

  • Very informative video Nate....

    STEPPHAN2733,

    Cheers

  • thanks for leading me to this video!!! much obligated !

  • Good look at the Cactus V4 triggers, I use these myself, have been very reliable, battery cover is crap though. One thing to note they dont like working when the transmitter and reciver are really close together (you get miss fires).

  • 5:22, the camera DID NOT miss the flash. :)

  • can you use and brand of flash with these triggers

  • What flash do you use in this video?

  • @chexmixBMX101 Canon 430EXii

  • @nevergive7 I don't know why I thought the flash needed to be in wireless mode. It works great and I'm sure it will save power. I am learning every day! Just like normal. Thanks for the info man!

  • @nevergive7 Oh I see what you're saying. It's not necessary to have the flash in wireless mode. I don't know if it will make a difference but I will play with it tomorrow. Thanks for clearing that up. I hear these are about the same as the Yongnuo ones. They are pretty good for the price. I wanted something with no weird batteries. The trigger has a 23A battery but I think I can live with that. It should last a while. You'll have to let me know how you like those and how you have used them.

  • @nevergive7 Maybe I don't need to use wireless? Is that what you're saying? I still have not tried the flash in anything besides wireless. I use manual on the flash because ETTL f**cks the pics up. I don't understand. Can you get ETTL to work if you don't use wireless? I'd like to know what you mean. I got these so I can use flash outside at longer distances, around corners, ect.

  • Yeah i think i op for a 430 ex 2 as the refund, and a 85mm 1.8 with the rest of my christmas money lol

  • @canond450 There is a guy selling an 85mm 1.8 in my town for about 75-100 dollars off new price. I am thinking about getting it. What a lens that would be!

  • @nate42nd Yeah in England they are about £290 and 430 is £200, kinda bad price . But its apprently a very gd portrait lens, that the 50 mm and the 60mm macro are voted quite highly for portraits

  • @canond450 That 100mm Canon macro lens is good for portraits too. It's just a little longer than the 85mm and you can do macro work with it. Excellent lens. I would look at it. Very versatile being a 1:1 macro and normal 100mm prime 2.8 lens.

  • @nate42nd Lol so many choices, got £500 to spend and i keep deciding then i change my mind, going Venice during the mask festival and i want to take some decent portraits as well as landscapes.

  • @canond450 Try a Canon 70-200 F/4L non IS. I'll bet that would be a good lens. I don't know the exchange rate but I can get them new here for 630 dollars. That would be cool! No IS but good quality. Keep the shutter speed up and get into L lenses. I though about this but got a 24-105 instead. I love that lens but it's twice as much.

  • @canond450 The 430EXii is one of the best things I have purchased in a while. It makes a lot of stuff possible. Get a 30 dollar light stand, flash holder, and umbrella with it. For 30 bucks you can't go wrong. You can do professional looking portraits (or anything) with it. With that 85mm it would be amazing with one of these triggers.

  • @nate42nd Thanks for the advice mate. I got the tamron because it was down from £220 to £99 in a sale i thought i was a gd deal. I think Tamron lens are only gd if u buy the more expense ones such as the 90mm macro and the others. As canon majorly out preforms tamron build quality .

  • great video!

  • unboxing not quick look

  • @MultiAppleDude I didn't claim it would be quick. haha Some like to see a detailed look....some don't. I could make them way longer.

  • nice system but with the 7d doesn't it come with wireless flash?

  • @CrazyLini it does not work very well

  • @MultiAppleDude It works perfectly. Does exactly what it's meant to do. Well built and takes AAA batteries in the receiver. Great deal for 45 dollars.

  • @CrazyLini The 7D does control flash with it's built in flash but it is overwhelmed outside by the sun. This radio system gives me WAY more possibilities. You don't need to be in "line of sight" I can put the flash around a corner for instance. I could go on and on.

  • Can you use Flash Exposure Compensation on the 7D to control the flash power?

  • @Tedbamber I don't think so. It simply tells the flash to fire. You need to set the power of the flash. It's not too bad, but would be better with ETTL. Inside I will use the 7D abilities, but this will open up all kinds of shots I could never do before. Back-lighting outside, using "snoots" to direct the light outside, I could go on. It's something good to have...especially for only 45 dollars.

  • looks pretty gd, might have a look at it. Have to admit i got a tamron 70-300 f4 today and its pretty terrible. focusing does not work properly i think i return it in the morning.

  • @canond450 Thanks man. You got the Tamron 70-300 F/4-5.6? It would be good for outside. The Canon 55-250 is about the same. They are okay lenses but you just can't do some things with a 5.6 aperture zoomed into 300mm. Good luck. That Tamron 18-270 would be my choice if I were going to buy a lens like that.
