Israel is stationed in a area and climate where where the SAS is operating, so they go and learn from the troops who operate in that climate.

Every unit has a specialty, you can't compare them.

Feh, the French have too much pride to recognise their own incompetence and to realise that any police unit won't cut it against well armed terrorists. GIGN is the French equivilent of American SWAT teams; both are not train to handle this type of situation.
