i like this. it gave me an idea on how to mix some routines that i know for a great reveal. thanks magicalmaniac77 and big thanks for ryan for making a video of this trick!
It was linked to this as a response it may have been taken down recently. If you check my other vids the Learn Beginner Magic Vol 2 is the full explanation of the same trick.
there is an easier way to get the card to second from the bottom which avoids having to look at the deck at all. once they have picked a card ask them to
- put it on top of the deck
- false shuffle and keep it on top of the deck (there are various different ways)
- then start the overhand shuffle, and grip the top and bottom card and pull rest of the pack away, then shuffle off the remainder of the cards.
hey man great video, but could you explain how to finish the trick off effectively? It is really hard to do the slide cut with only 4 cards! Any tips or hints? thanks man, keep the instructional videos coming!
Well, actually I personally find it easier to do the glide with fewer cards. Look through my videos my Learn Beginner Magic Vol. 2 is a more complete version of this same tutorial. Don't know if it will help or not but you can take a look.
nice video it helped. When id id it ryans way my friends knew when i siwtched my card with my index finger. When i tryed this way the dont know how i did it:) thx
Thanks this is a great video, really compliments Ryan's video. Makes the motions seem much smoother which is probably the most important thing in magic.
well, all you did is making the motions in that magic smoother which is not very important because Ryan did it fairly good.
anyways, about the first part I dont agree with you because cutting the deck insted of shuffling it is much more suspicious. the faking shuffle Ryan did was much more convincing...
I agree with the shuffling. You should never let the audience have control over your trick unless you know they can't screw it up. Even if they are "just" cutting it, they may cut the deck precisely on your two cards.
Yes and no. The more you can let the audience handle the deck the better, because it makes the trick seem more impossible, However, as you say they can potentially mess the trick up.

Sigh, well, unfortunately for everyone due to some recent and incessant spamming on my videos I am disabling comment posting for the time being. I don't want to because I want people to leave their opinion good or bad but I'm not putting up with this anymore. In time I will turn the commenting back on. You may PM me with questions if you have them.
much less awkward, thanks for clearing that up. but overall i think this card trick sucks. how many times are you suppose to pretend to be an idiot until you get it right, there are 100s of card tricks that do the same thing better, just a thought
You're not "pretending to be an idiot" you're just pulling out 4 cards that are (apparently) not theirs. You make it clear from the presentation that you're NOT trying to actually find their card when you pull the four cards out then it suddenly appears from "nowhere" And yes I know this isn't an AMAZING trick but it's designed to be accessible to beginners and it's still surprising effective.
hey guy, your edition is better than that one of ryan, but it's not perfect,... i ve done that trick very often, and the most important part of the trick is that you give the deck to the audience and let them shuffle it.. i'll send you a message how it's done.. if someone is interested send me a message...
dude thank you for showing this ryan had several points wrong and im glad you had the sense to but it right i tend to use my thumb to glide i find it easyer than my fingers
another thing that i like to do to make it look like that i have no idea where the card is i do a false shuffle and drop the bottom 2 or 4 cards first but make it look like a regular shuffle
ryan's was complete garbage, how he manuevered the card to 2ncd to last was crap, you on the other hand rocked.. funny ive never heard this trick before
This trick has been around a long time and gone by many different names. I made up the name Hit and Run but if it has any official name I don't know it.
By real magic he of course means tricks that rely almost entirely on camera tricks (one of which you can still see the card he drops cuz he didn't align his camera right and it reamins in frame) and apparently filmed inside a cave or possibly a locked car trunk based on the lighting.
yeah, i did think about the varying moves when putting them down as being a bit suspicious. in the end though, ryan's trick is good and these techniques are good too. i may have to use that 'glide' move.
Any MAGICIAN (as opposed to someone who just knows a few tricks) wouldn't be fooled by any part of this trick, but the magic I'm teaching isn't designed to fool magicians it's supposed to be entertaining for lay people and can be performed by beginners.
sweet got ya. I just needed to do it a couple of times. It worls awesome! Do you think you could do some tutorials for some moderately hard tricks that only require one normal deck and no setup?
Because I did on the first one. It isn't neccessary to make the trick work but if you only do it on the first card people may wonder why. If you burn one every time for no apparent reason then it's "just the way you do it"
hahaha yes you totally should!!! everyone loves your tricks. by the way if you know it, could you show how the trick is done with 4 aces that you put the black ones down face down then you flip them and they're the red ones and the black ones are in your hand. its a really confusing switch! thanks :)
Wow, magic tutoriuals are apparently VERY popular. I got more views with this than my other 20 videos put together lol. Maybe I should do some more beginner teaching. Just need to figure out what to teach. Hmmmmmmmmm....
thanks now im great with card tricks
