  • is inscurance cheap on this car?

  • Very fuel efficient, especially when it comes time to drive it to the junk yard

  • does it have a tilt stearing wheel jw

  • @darklighter456 No tilt steering wheel.. this car is as basic as it gets.. lol

Power nothing except brakes and no A/C.

  • TURBO IT

  • Someday I will but not yet. Been thinking of a supercharger for a future mod since the crank pulley has an extra slot for a second belt.

  • @jmoyet Turbos tend to be more efficient, and you don't lose any economy when staying out of the boost. :3

  • would this car ne good for a 16 year old...

i have found some in the paper and they say some can get 50 mpg is this true i dont really care ab the looks or anything i jus want something to drive so would this be a good first car? please answer

  • yeah its a good car for a 16 year old. good on gas. its a great car. its not a fast car but it will keep up with traffic in the highway like any other car. and they have tough engines.

just look at the videos of people trying to destroy the engine on a geo metro..

Most of them have manual transmissions, just keep that in mind if you dont know how to drive a with a manual transmission.

  • I have a 1996 with the 3 cyc. and got 46-55 in it with a 5 speed. One of 3 cyclinders was sucking oil, so I am dropping a low mileage Japanese replacement in it. Got mine on ebay knowing I would be replacing the engine. With air bags, its reasonably safe!

I had a 4 cyc. automatic in a 2000 year model and got 40-42 mpg. Its all about how you drive and how fast if you want the upper mpg.

  • its good i got one and i get like 250 to a tank and it takes like 15 to fill it up from e

  • very fuel efficient cars.

  • better than the 25k Prius

Geo Metro[Suzuki Swift] have high resale value nowadays better than a 2006 mint Hummers

  • wow that's good to know!

  • Looks almost like a brand new car. Nice.I heard the demand of Geo Metros is on the rise because of high gas prices. I have a Prizm.

  • I drove to Seaside to get mine, a 600 mile round trip. Several are out there, but the 3 cyc. 5 speed is tough if you want a straight body. Most are banged up! I have a friend with a car lot with four cars, all automatic & the 4 cyclinder. I had that and it was pretty good, but this time I wanted the 3 cyclinder. Hind sight, the 5 speed 4 cyclinder might of been better?

  • I just got a nice 1992 and it averaged 42 mpg on the first tank of gas. If gas wasn't so expensive I would drive something else, However I see why everyone gets hooked on their Metro. It's about the best non-hybrid car for fuel economy man has ever made. It's very fun to drive. In the future more people are gonna wish the owned a metro with gas prices.

  • kinda makes me miss my old 94 metro lol, even though its still sitting in my garage I will probably never touch it again since now I own a real car.....actually 3(ford bronco, jeep cherokee, and a mitsubishi eclipse.) but for some reason I keep the geo around for "sentimental reasons" lol.

  • yeah once you have owned a Geo Metro kind of get attached to it.

  • I know what you mean...it is my first car and I love it I just wish there wasn't so much wrong with it...but it's simple to drive and I Love it so much, I'm a girl by the way..but I kinda understand some of the "Car Lingo" .....Heh...wish someone like my "dad" cough cough...would teach me a little more about my car...anyway...I have the same kind and LOVE it! Thanks for the tour it helped me understand a little about my Geo and under the hood aspects!

  • metros are supposed to get 50 mpg,

  • ...bull...that's all I have to say...because mine gets about 36-40 MPG...I DOUBT that you could get 50mpgs...just saying...

  • The Geo Metro XFI is rated 51mpgs highway so I wouldn't be so quick to say it can't be done, not even the Toyota Prism gets that on highway. As for other Metro Hatchback models they mostly get 40~45+mpgs

  • I graduated from Bondurant (racing) Driving School in 1983 and the equation is all about driving habits. The Automatic 4 cyc struggles to beat 40 mpg, I wish I had opted for the 4 cyc. stick. The 3 cyclinder stick got 46 mpg on my 300 mile trek home. Platnum plugs, synthetic oils and gas additive saw 53-55 in the next 400 miles to San Diego & back. To bad it burned over 3 quarts of oil! With the transplant engine, I'll beat the 55 mpg. Its a game and it beats my Ford Ranger Pickup.

  • i have both a ranger and a metro lol, metro gets higher mpg of course. those things get 50 high way easy, if you drive em right like you said.

  • @conservativeMADman oh which ride do you like better?

  • @halflife103 i like the ranger better if for no other reason it feels safer and ride quality and sound proofing is better, but if your looking for a speed sensation look no further than a metro, 60 mph in the metro feels like 80mph in a normal sized car, (mines a 94 metro which is the older body style) it corners pretty darn good despite the fact it has no sway bars lol. and that 52hp is actually fun to drive.

  • Wow, that's a nice, clean car you've got there. I bet you laugh at the SUV drivers filling up their gas pigs. I do and I drive a 2002 Saturn SL2 5-speed. 45MPG CITY! Thanks to my ScanGaugeII and light right foot.

  • Give the guy a break he loves his car, that's what this website is all about. I wish I had a GEO Metro with the price of gas nowdays.

  • the crx is not quick at all, i burn it every time...the lude gets 18 mpg as its worst, and thats if u use vtec like all the time...it usually avgs. 23-25 mpg...and damn that swap in the s10 is beastly, u got n e video of it?

  • ^^^ Jorge, GREAT VIDEO(both of them), really. They're both excellent in showing the little details and you don't even have to like Metro's to respect your attention to those all-important(atleast to anyone who actually watches 20min. videos on Geo Metro's) car characteristics. And "good on ya' mate" for taking care of your ma' she seems like a funny lady. Oh, and that cat is stalking you. Didn't you see it's beady eyes peering into your soul mwah ha ha...Got all that.^^^

  • Thanks thats the best comment iv gotten yet. Sorry about the video length but i think its better than clicking on a bunch of 30sec or 1min clips of the same video. oh thats my cat she always gives that weird look.

  • wow what a p.o.s. the funny thing is tho is that they probably get better gas mileage than the hybrids out today...too bad you would take like an hour longer to get to work everyday lol

  • don't underestimate the Geo. Even tho it has 55HP it has a very light body and will hit 65mph to 75mph in a reasonable time.

  • what's a reasonable time? 20 seconds? well its no performance car by any means. my honda prelude (which hits 0-60 in 6.7 seconds) can probably pass this thing if it started from 3rd gear. and, oh yeah, u claim it gets 40mpg? the honda crx with, thats right, FOUR cylinders gets at least that, and has something like 93 hp.

  • yeah something around 20 second or more and like you said its not a performance car its an economy car. about the mpg i dont have a mpg meter or anything like that, i just took the specs from internet auto guide. and about the passing in 3rd gear, i dont think this car could pass any avg. car

  • i didnt make this video for any show off reasons i just made this video for other ppl that own geo's and/or like geo's

  • lol ok...i got a little carried away. but yeah despite the fact that it's slow, i have to compliment the fact that it is probably the best or one of the best cars ever produced when it comes down to gas mileage! I found out that the highway mileage is actually around 50mpg, the crx i mentioned earlier gets 40 hwy. that's around what the prius gets hwy!

  • wow its even more of a gas saver than i thought.

  • Its sad that there are people hating on you.

Why are they looking at Metro Videos anyway.

My Metro has a permanent spot in my stable because the car has charm.

  • Thanks. As you said it is better than 30 sec clips for people who want to know more about these cars.

  • Did the horsepower rating go up over the years?

    I thought all 1.0s were 55 horsepower and the 1.3's are 75

  • i guess i was reading the wrong specs on the internet.

  • yes i was reading the wrong specs. i was reading the specs for the 1997 Geo Metro Hatchback LSI instead of the 1997 Geo Metro Hatchback (Base)

  • There was an XFI version too. Im not sure what years it was made but I think that one had 49 horsepower.

I'm still learning. These cars have charm.

  • to get to know geo's go here (gtkgeo dot 50megs dot com)
