  • I have this exact feeder...there is a trick to closing it so it doesn't leak...but it is the easiest of all my feeders to clean and refill.

  • You missed a step.

Step 4) Slow leaking of nectar, rendering the feeder useless.

I bought one of these and no matter what I do, it leaks. Absolute piece of trash.

  • I bought a feeder exactly like this at Walmart, but it's under their generic name of "Mainstays". I had no idea you're not supposed to use red dyed nectar... :(

  • I called Perky Pet about my leaky feeder and the person told me they will send me a replacement after she got all the info about my push/pull feeder. Guess what I got a week later? A "traditional" feeder. Does this mean Perky Pet gave up on this design?

  • I have a similar also by Perky-Pet. When it works, it works great. However, it leaks 9 out of 10 times.

  • I bought one of these and all of the liquid leaked out! So we glued the bottom plastic pieces together but it then it all leaked out through the flowers! So we glued around the flowers and it still leaked all the way out! This feeder was useless and I had to toss it out! I love the idea where it locks at the bottom and fills from the top but you really need to redesign the bottom piece and the flowers!

  • Nature's nectar is clear, not red. Most experts agree that red dye should not be used in hummingbird nectar. Just mix up 4 parts water (tap) to 1 part sugar. That is all that is needed. Perky Pet adds the rfed dye not to attract hummingbirds, but to attract the uneducated buyer.

@Perky Pet: change the color of the reservior from clear to red.

  • just one tip you shouldnt put red color in the nectar or buy red nectar because it harms the humming bird

  • i cant believe you used dye! sheesh

  • Way too difficult to clean. No way to clean the lower end.

  • @taz6122 the lower end can unscrew too (into two parts), this is one of my favorite feeders because I can clean it with ease

  • @kekothegeko That's good to know. How long has yours lasted so far? I have some that are around 3 years old but not this type. They are easy to clean and cheap.

  • Red nectar being bad is a myth.Google it and overlook opinions.I use perky-pet and Great Value spring water....Happy Hummers.

  • @not2vu It's NOT a myth! It's bad for their digestive system. If you use it you're killing them.

  • @taz6122 If you can google it and find a study rather than opinion I'd be interested

  • I agree that red dye should not be used. It may be harmful to the hummingbirds so why use it? Just mix up 1 part granulated sugar to 5, 4 0r 3 parts tap water.

  • I found one of these feeders last yr in Moab (UT), & haven't seen them anywhere else, yet. I love the whimsical design of the perches & the overall look. The no leak feature is nice too. I also found a great design for homemade feeders that look better than most of the ones shown on YouTube--I've taught it as a Junior Ranger program at work. There is concern abt red dyes causing tumors in hummingbirds, so it's best to make your own nectar (4:1 & 3:1 water:sugar ratios are most recommended).

  • @leiatyndall I found this feeder recently at my Home depot store...maybe you'll have luck there

  • Perky Pet Nectar

  • Qual a marca do nectar?

  • Lindo

  • Awesome!
