we are playing BANG card game to this soundtrack..... and this one is mostly epic.. two last players ready to showdown.... narrowed eyes.... Aaaah, so great fun ! And I am still playing Outlaws sometimes :)
man i grew up with this......the memories;/ wish i could go back; ya know? like relive games like this and ocarina of time all over again. Gotta love classics
what makes the game so awesome is that the game programers seemed to have a special love for Clint Eastwood, because of the way the main character looks like. and the guy who made the music must be a fan of Ennio Morricone. :-)
The Demo surely used the most memorable song from the whole game. This song still stuck in my mind even though over 10 years has gone since I played this game and now my disc doesn't work anymore.... (was forced to play this thru Daemon tool and a fanpatch 2 or 3 years ago).
I was watching that and heard the music in the background and started humming this song until I realized that I was watching something unrelated and then I was like ".. are my ears deceiving me?"
@LanIost That is from The good, the bad and the ugly OST. Many of the Outlaws songs are inspired by Morricone and some tunes almost sound similar to Morricones famous tracks.
i think this is the very best of the soundtracks! gives me the shivers :) But all the others are very good too, this is just my favourite. the game is indeed fantastic! and the music just make it better !
The made sure that the music to this game would never be beaten by any other western style game. They made 15 different original tunes for the game. Talk about atmosphere...
Actually, I read an old pc magazine (well yes, I saved many old pc game mags that are almost a decade old now). Said that many of the soundtracks that Lucasart made are actually tributes to Ennio Morricone spagetti western.
@Jimbochap Unfortunately, even in the field of Western games, most developers think that game music is, at best, a minor priority, when in fact it can make a good game truly great. Just look at Portal. If not for the end song, it would have merely been awesome, with it, it was Great.
Unfortunately this is ever so true. In older games the developers tended to make everything stand out or put extra work on everything rather than just the interactive elements. This is mainly due to the limited amount OF interactive elements they could work with. another good example of music in games is Doom (Pc or SNES) In some of these songs they were in fact 8-bit remakes of Actual Metal songs
I'd been told that this song was a blatant ripoff of "Ecstasy of Gold." I wasn't expecting to be quite as GOOD a ripoff as it is, though, it really rocks and compliments the original quite nicely.
MORRICONE.. HE STOLE THE IDEAS.. -_-

@ManuelKobe Yeah I'd say this a rendition of Morricone's Ecstasy of Gold, at the very least there's a lot of similarities.

This song still gives me goosebumps... Good old LucasArts. Sometimes I hear the intro from The Secret of Monkey Island too.

This is not a remix of ecstasy of gold, though it was certainly inspired by it.

Damn I remember this song from the Outlaw demo... it reminds me of Il Bueno, Il Brutto. Il Cattivo's ecstasy of Gold.

@hanchiman
Yes, I saved it from the outlaws demo (good old analog hole).
I've never heard this full version. Mine has the "heh heh heh.. Good Shooting Mister.. but you're already too late... *dead*"

Definitely a tribute to Ennio Morricone. It's almost like finding a new stash of Morricone music out of the blue.
