Damn...years ago when i was a Corps drummer in the 70"s (the JR corps I was in were National Champs in '76) when snare heads werent so tight that you could do a buzz roll with one stroke.. this would not have been impressive. I knew guys that could roll, double stroke, double, triple paradiddle etc etc on a pillow with taped 3S sticks... this is cheating.

I don't even think Travis is great at a kit! I've watched live video of Travis screwing up a Blink tune. Take my word, I've been playing drums for almost 40 years. The best drummers in the world are not even famous.
I can appreciate how high his skill level is. But this style doesn't really do it for me since I'd rather see musically and phrasing as opposed to a series of tricks. Don't get me wrong. These tricks are amazing and exciting to watch, but, for me, in small doses.

@robliano I believe that as musician's we never stop growing. I do have difficulty finding those qualities within this style, but that doesn't mean it lacks them. We all know that Ivan Pacheco is DEFINITELY faster than Travis Barker but we can't say that Ivan is the best ever because there is always going to be someone better in the future, BUT at the time he was the best at his craft no question.
Ivan Pacheco (this guy ^) is an iconic DCI drummer, people who like drum set playing are not gonna like any DCI/WGI drumming because they like to hear "the beat". But again both sides cannot be close minded. Those who can't hear "the beat"; remember that these are not just fast rolls but very complicated rudiments that sound like they are mashed together because they are so fast. If you don't know what rudiments are then I cannot respect what you say as a drummer or any critic of a drummer.
