  • How can I change the sound driver??

  • On a Mac when he says 'enter', press fn enter (return)

  • I turn the localhost server on, and type x = {SinOsc.ar(200)}.play, and then Lang > Run to run it, and I get no sound. Very baffled.

  • 15 inch laptop... no numeric enter key... solution?

  • @ahadyama69 ctrl+return

  • @mcldx cheers, was stuck on that one all day. looked through about 20 dell forums but get my answer from youtube!

  • did anyone else get the output 'nil' when they did this

  • How do I execute an entire file in SC?

  • In windows the internal and localhost server do not show up. Any advice?

  • @Smorphine on windows, that means you probably haven't got the SwingOSC bit installed/running properly. (SwingOSC provides the graphical stuff.) If you can't get that running, you can live without the graphical bits. Just run "s.boot" to boot the server.

  • @mcldx So I guess I should get this SwingOSC thingy, install it and run the SuperCollider, right? Maybe you can explain what this OSC does.

  • Awesome!

  • neat :-) thanks!

  • Am I doing something wrong? I've copied the text as you have but I get the following message: "• ERROR: Variable 'sinOsc' not defined." I've never used this program before so I'm utterly lost at the moment...

  • Capital S for SinOsc

  • Great guide for a newbie like me.

I've been using Ctrl + Enter on my Dell.

  • Does anybody know where the "real enter key" is on a MacBook?

  • For anyone wanting to know the answer to this, I found out that it's Fn + Enter. (:

  • I recommend grabbing "DoubleCommand" which allows you to assign keys to various functions. On my Macbook I assigned the right "Option" key to act as "Enter". You can also do "Fn-Return" (using the function key in lower left).

  • I was using fn + enter. (As above) ;)

  • Yeah, it's just to the left of the arrow buttons (to the right of the right apple key) It looks like a horisontal bar with a "^" under it.

  • That's Alt/Option. The fn key is to the right of the ctrl key on the right side of the keyboard.

  • As long as we're talking about the old (white/grey) version of MBPs, the enter key (NOT the return!!) is immediately to the left of the arrow keys. And it, as I said, looks like a bar with a ^ under it.

The alt/opt key you talk about, is conveniently labeled "alt". And on a MBP it's located on the left side of the keyboard.... :)

Or perhaps they changed the layout with the latest black MBPs? I'm still with the earlier version.

  • I was talking about the new Macbooks. As this is what the problem was for me. I couldn't find the 'other' enter key on my laptop. But I found out that "fn + return" worked. I said that.

I was not talking about the old keyboards.

    (:

  • Oh, I see. Sorry for all confusion! :)

  • if you dont get it running... you need to press the "real enter key", which is located on the numpad ;)

took me a while to figure out..

  • ./easy mode Good for people who think comman lines are boring and use instead fancy graphical interfaces without the SC flexibility ;-)

  • yes, it's just that simple.

  • :)

    The title says it all!

    Very Good!

  • Nice. You need to make way more vids like this for SuperCollider. Please
