  • @2jz4fun No dude he's right its made for leveling the Revs when down shifting so you don't get that really rough jerk when doing so. It keeps it nice and smooth!

I drove the Automatic version about 6 weeks ago, but am planning to go to Atlanta next weekend and drive a 6-speed. If it feels the way I think it's going to feel, I'll probably get that bad boy. Touring w/Sport pkg and SunRays - sweeeet.

  • Can you please take this video down? not only you're misinforming a potential Z buyer, you're advertising wrong info. S-Mode helps you rev match when you downshift, eliminating the heel and toe. Also, you kept saying suspension feels tighter. Well, the new Z is 4" shorter and got all aluminum upgraded/updated brand new suspension. Shorter chassis and lightweight suspension yields better handling. Please put the corrected S-mode info in the "more info" area please.

  • I understand. Don't take anything I said the wrong way. I've just always wanted to tell dealers how to excite potential buyers the right way. Very few dealers actually do it and I think their sales suffer because of it. There's a reason why I've bought my last 3 BMW's from the same guy.

  • Nissan switched from a McPherson strut front suspension (found on today's Mustang) to a short-long arm suspension (found on the RX8 I own =p)

    Joining the service soon and I LOVE my RX8 but its useless to mod it and I have far outgrown my Mazda's quick little engine. Kicking around a 370Z, Camaro SS, and MAYBE a new Mustang GT if the other two are too expensive. Hows the clutch in the 370? I HATED the 350's clutch. No feel whatsoever. 6/8's of the way out you were still sitting there.

  • IMO the clutch feels similar to the 350, which I happen to like. Very smooth to operate especially when trying to shift quick in downshifting operations. But you'd have to feel it for yourself since I never had a problem with the clutch. I'm not much a fan of the clutch on the Mustang.

  • I did not like the clutch in the 350. Again, it had no feeling whatsoever and up until the last milimeter of letting out did you move forward. My left leg was quite shakey even after a 15 minute test drive. Also I didn't see why everyone complained about traffic in a manual car until I drove a 350. Clutch was just a huge turn off. The interior was another reason I chose an RX8 over a Z. They claim to have solved that but I've only ever seen the glossed up pics from Nissan.

  • The RX8 does have a nice interior, it's a nice car. But the interior on the Z is definitely much improved.

    You'll have to just drive the Z and see for yourself, I've driven the Z for long periods of time many times and I actually like the clutch.

  • I suppose I will. IMO the RX8 is the best at what it is: an entry level sports car. The clutch is easy and linear, razor sharp handling, and more than enough power to have fun with. While the 350Z performed a little better, it was a more serious car. On or off clutch, very expensive, not very practical, etc.

    I liked the engine in the 350Z and LOVED the shifter. Nissan NAILED it, that was the best shifter I've ever used. Are the throws still as short and precious in the 370?

  • Oh man the Z shifter is dead on, I couldn't believe it especially after having driven American sports cars for years. And it still is IMO. Someone said it was a tad taller than before and it may be, but you don't notice it.

  • According to car and driver, they had an article I read today about the new 370, they said the barely moved your arm and the shifts were quick and precise. Also the new shifting moded, I belive the "S" what the guy said below, they said it worked like a charm and shifted perfect ALWAYS>

  • Great. I felt the shifter on the 350 was its strongest point. I'd hate for Nissan to screw up something great. The engine was good and people compliment it on its smoothness. But after driving a rotary engine for over a year every piston enigne feels rough and harsh to me so =/

  • I just want to point out that the "S" button has NO affect on the steering as he mentioned.The S stands for Synchro Rev Match gearbox.If the S mode is turned on, the car will rev match your RPMs when you downshift.For example, lets say you're driving in 4th gear and you want to down shift to 3rd, all you have to do is--Clutch in-->downshift to 3rd-->clutch out!NO REV MATCH needed. You can find tons of info about the new 370Z Synchro match transmission @ Nissanusa and The370Z

  • Thanks for pointing that out, I didn't mean to put the two together. The steering is something that is on most new Nissans, including the Altima. They've simply enhanced it for a sporty drive on the Z but no button turns it on or off.
