  • why-is-the-title-like-this

  • It's really not that hard I sometimes make my own clothes ok well my mom helps but I think I might do that yet again wish me luck

  • HOLY CRAP, THERES SOMEBODY ELSE IN YOUR HOU-oh hey that's you...

  • @Hinata96h yes you can use this pattern for a guy.. Only typically you would reverse the bottoms to the other side for males. You can make a nice pattern for yourself by taking a really well fitting t-shirt and turn it inside out and tracing it onto the paper. Add a half inch seam allowance for sewing and snip your corners on the inside so they don't bunch up when you turn it right side out.

  • do you have a singer 8280 prelude sewing machine

  • Im oprimus Prime! LOL

  • can i use this method to make male's vest?

  • How to you make a pattern? Sorry I'm still learning how to sew ^_^;; Anyone's comments are appreciated!

  • Comment removed

  • @bowlerhat3471 for the bak side i think she used a tanktop pattern

  • @XxFunnyLiLBunnyxX That's a really good idea, thanks a lot! :)

  • @bowlerhat3471 thanks! I just finished making my patern now i need fabric and i get to work! :)

  • There's a cutter on your sewing machine, in case ya didnt notice ; )

  • Lol, I hate when i sew stuff on backwards xD happens all the time. Thanks for the tutorial!

  • haay you think you can posrts of video of the newspaper how to make it

  • why dont you back stitch? it would make the seams a lot stronger

  • You know what... I appreciate that you made a mistake, only then can we truly learn! Thanks for posting this it was really helpful! Love the ending there :D

  • Your adorable and thanks for the vid :D

  • mute the video and listen to firework or candyman its really cool

  • so much for simple...

  • Music at the end?!?

  • I think it was very clear and helpful, regardless of the mistake. We learn from them. thanks.

  • What type of fabric did u use?

  • I hate when that happens when you messed up.

  • ....o lol never mind about that last one, but thanks

  • did u hand stich this, like with a needle and a thread???? or did u use a sewing machine?

thanks alot for making this video btw, i really needed it and it helps.

  • Thanks for this - a rather easier approach than a 'Simplicity' pattern I'm working on.

  • Very helpful! I like wearing vests, and now I can make my own! AWESOME!

  • I love this video just wish I had a machine I have to sew by hand :(

  • You have no idea how much this helped me! I know it's old, but it's exactly what I was looking for! THanks =D

  • Can this work for boys I don't won't to waste 20.00 on a vest

  • @67044naruto I'm sure it would. Just make sure to get your measurements right and everything and pick out whatever fabric you want. I don't think there's really a difference between girls' and boys' vests other than the cut. ^^

  • Thank you for this vid! It was very helpful!

  • nice video..

Do you want a VEST but have NO MONEY?

What do you think to get one in 1 minute with SCARF?!

    LOOK my DIY video! ;)

  • yes please tell me how to do the newspaper thing

  • i was just wondering how you knew what size newspaper to cut out. How did you figure out the measurements?

  • hw xcatly did u cut the pattern on the newspapper??? n hw to measure the size of it???help me out m fully confused :-?!!!

  • lol when you said you were really concentrating I thought the same thing. Cute vest :]

  • Use a vest that you already have as an assist for the pattern. Also iron the fabric before hand, so it looks neater. and iron again afterwards!

  • better safe then sorry

  • i have got respect for sewing machines, cuz one of my friends accendently sew herselv in the finger. that didnt look good.

  • Thumbs up if you wanna f..k her!!!

  • @hausmusic That's pleasant....

  • Cute necklace, and even though the video wasn't the best, still a great tutorial. Thanks, this will help me make a gilet (basically the same thing but different fabric). ^^

  • it's really, really cool :) I wish I had one of those machines...I don't know how to use them and it seems to me that they must be a little expensive...

  • o.o im gonna go make one now

  • Thnx :D

  • In any case, great advice. I didn't even think about leaving an inch for the edges of the side of the vest. I'll take your advice wisely. ^_^

  • Lol. I'm getting some 18" by 60" cloth, it is furry. I was considering making a furry vest. I was wondering if I could make a vest by just wrapping the 60" part around me and measuring and stuff, then cutting away at what doesn't fit. lol. Idk how to explain. I haven't gotten the fur yet, so, I don't really know what it is like.

  • You are being to hard on yourself :o I liked it ;)

  • Hella cool.........!

  • I love Optimus. *-* He's the bomb! Err, the 'bot, i guess. ^-^ lol

  • Great video!

  • Thanks for making this video! It was simple and very easy to follow ^_^

I needed to make a costume piece quickly and wasn't sure where to start, this video was perfect! (Oh also we all make mistakes, Ive sewn sleeves inside out on costuems before.....so don't feel bad about sewing that one piece bakcwards XD)

  • Sweet!!! I need a vest for a cosplay so this should work....:

  • I tried this and sewed my finger

  • @wisefamily07 Ouch. My mom sewed her finger once.

  • Thanks for this video! I needed some clarification on which parts of the lining and main fabric to sew together on the first step . . but now it seems so obvious! XD

I was surprised that you didn't pin the fabric together at all before sewing!

  • i noticed not a lot of guys left comments thought i would say thank you..i was tired of spending my money on rocker vests and now i can make what i want when i want..

  • AWESOME! Now I know how to make a vest! Thanx! ;)

  • wow thats a hot vest! hmm, I think I have just the right fabrics for this!

  • Thank you so much! This helps a lot. You have the best video on how to make a vest! The others are so confusing, but you make it look so easy! Now, I am going to make a vest!

  • um sorry If this is a stupid question, but the reason you messed up was because you sewed the sides backward?

  • Uhmmm If you messed up on a part in a tutorial shouldn't you tell how so that the people following wont mess up on the same thing?

  • Haha, I have that same problem at about 7:05. c: Love the video! <3

ive been wanting to know how to make a vest for FOREVER!!!!!!!!! thanks soooooo much

im subscribing to u just cuz of this video lol thnx again

  • i have a question..... around 6:55 u say to separate the pieces and sew them down... well my question is, could u just iron them instead?plz reply!!!!!! :D

  • what kind of fabric did u use?

  • hey i was wondering if u would tell me the dimentoins of the vest so i could draw it easier

  • hey u can always use a tanktop you own as a pattern (cuz u no it fits) then just make the adjustments.

  • thanks but i kinda already made the vest and thankfully it turned out just fine !

  • this is really cool :)

do you know how to make those vests that go with tshirts? its kinda long and it stays on your sides. it doesn't close or anything.

  • What if you want to use a more silky fabric,is there certain sewing settings I should use

  • well you'd have to make sure it doesn't gather, and that you don't sew to vigorously.

other than that you should be fine as long as you be careful.

  • they did mention it in 1 of the steamppunk episodes

  • i'm suprised Threadbanger didn't use this, It's great!

  • they mentioned it

  • @xxEllusxx they didnt use it, but they suggested to some here

  • i just bought purple and black fabric and a vest a-pattern and a sewing machine today uggh i dont get it but your is easy do thanks!

  • how to measure it off? which do i exactly need?

  • you inspire me... gracias for that....

  • the vest looks very good on you~!

    good job^.^

  • okay to clarify, you had the "good" sides of the fabric on the outside and then turned it inside out to reinforce it?

  • you forgot to backstictch hun. but hey you did a good job. love the newspaper parttern!

  • thank you so much =)

  • hi

can you post how you did the newspaper part of the vest

    please.....

    thanks !!!!

  • Great video!

  • Thanks for posting and don't be so hard on yourself. This was great.

  • so, is it opposite sides togethr??

  • yes it is.

  • oh and btw, i also would like to know how you came up with the newspaper pattern, because no matter how hard i try i always end up making things too small!!!

  • Well, get your mesurements, and when you go to make the vest, like shown in video, use half of that length because it is folded in half. I hope that helps some.

  • @rickirockett01 you have to measure yourself and then make it 2-3 in larger to allow seams to be sewn :D

  • @rickirockett01 doesn't seem like you got an answear, but I would suggest start out with a t-shirt thats a little bigger than you size and make a pattern out of that, then cut the pattern more the shape of a vest you would like :)

  • i really like your hat in the video, did you make that, or where did you get it from???

  • i need help with the cut put pretty please:)

  • THANK YOU!

  • good job, thanks for the tips and instructions, its good cuz if you're new to sewing its a good start. newbies can practice. please make more stuff.

  • Needs to be more descriptive. Sewing procedures need to be worked on. All seams should be hidden in-between the layers.

  • this is true, but this tutorial was made especially for those who just began sewing, and the simple process given is very easy to understand.

  • the video's not good in quality but it's surely helpfull now I can make as much vests as I want thank you

  • I need to make a dark green vest for a costume I am putting together, this was super helpful.

  • I've been sewing for years, and I thought the vest idea is great! I'm going to make one tomorrow - your idea is much better than a ready made pattern.

  • please refer back to the description of this video, i have a website posted there where i explain the pattern-making in detail.

  • You're a rockstar!! thats awesome

  • Thank you so much! I just made a vest for my son (Halloween Project) and it turned out beautifully! I followed your instructions from start to finish and it looks like I spent a lot of money on it! I added grommets and laced in leather cording instead of using buttons (needed to for this particular costume) but I'm going to make one for myself really soon. Thanks again.
