This music will always haunt me. I adore it. Some one has also posted the entire movie, in parts, on You Tube, FYI :)
This piece by Preisner was danced to by the Russian ice dancing pair at the Vancouver Olympics just a couple of days ago. They won the bronze medal. The performance to this composition was simply electric.
I recall a bit of information telling that Preisner actually discovered that piece, it hasn't been played before. The best scene of the movie, absolutely flawless

North American yes. Now before you assume that only Europeans have any knowledge of, well Europe or non-anglophone cultures, you should comprends que je parle bien français Not all "Americans" are idiots, some of us actually do have an education.
It touch my heart... very deeply !!! Double vie... Bravo !!!

O voi che siete in piccioletta barca,
desiderosi d'ascoltar, seguiti
dietro al mio legno che cantando varca,
"Non vi mettete in pelago, ché forse,
perdento me, rimarreste smarriti.
"O you, eager to hear more,
who have followed in your little bark
my ship that singing makes its way,
"Do not set forth upon the deep,
for, losing sight of me, you would be lost.

This is a text from Dante Alighieri, cioè

Cudowne filmy.
krzysztofpielich 3 years ago
Dokładnie. Coś jest na rzeczy. Gdy oglądam Amelię, mam nieodparte wrażenie, że mnóstwo tam weronikowych rozwiązań. Fajnie że ktoś to jeszcze odczuł:)

it is not dutch - it is the intro from the divine comedy by Dante.

I have listened to this so many times, but I have never wondered what they are singing. Is it actually in Dutch?

Well in my defense I know nothing about Dutch or Dante, and it is a pretend Dutch composer. What assumption would you make?

I'd assume you're american?
