yeah, it could be good on it's own... i saw this episode before i read the book. But the book was also so good and it is sad, that this epsiode is so different. Mirelle was the misteress of the husbend not the dad...
This is completely off point, but, I swear, EVERY SINGLE HOUSE I see on this series, I WANT!!!! I think, "Oh! When I win the lottery, THAT's the kind of thing I'll have...and that...and that...and THAT!!!" Sigh...
"Bribe the damn President of The United States. To dance naked on The White House steps." LMAO::)) Most Presidents would, for the good of The Country of course::))
I think one must take the screenplay at face value. The music, the actors, and the story, all play well, and of course, I echo the sentiments of those who compliment David Suchet. If you want a perfect Agatha Christie, read it. Some screenplays are more accurately portrayed than others....I agree, but I certainly wouldn't say this one is "awful".
The adaptation may not be accurate, but the film is nonetheless excellent. I am loving the music! The scenery is amazing and the actors wonderful. Okay, so it isn't a perfect Christie mold, but it works on its own. Let's just enjoy it!
who are the people who own the big mansion and what is their signifigance? I never got that part - are they just random, strange rich people? Are they family or just friends?
This adaptation of Agatha Christie's story was awful! I wish they stuck to the original material instead of changing things around. The Mystery Of the Blue Train wasn't Agatha Christie's best Poirot but it was way better than this adaptation. Apparently the screenwriters don't have confidence in Agatha Christie's books. . . .she is called the Queen of Crime for petes sakes! She had a cunning mind and she had a way with writing a mystsery that no one else can imitate!
@MusicLoverBrian1, why are people forever obsessed with the adaptation? This is one of the best Poirots. Good actors, beautiful scenery, excellent setup, colorful characters, solid storyline and of course an endlessly charming David Suchet.
@MusicLoverBrian1 I think that it is far, far better then Agatha Christie's version. I am thankful they go beyond her shallow characterization and predictable plots. They actually make Christie's work have some depth. Something she neither aspired to, nor achieved.
The music at the beginning of this scene is also in Bright Young Things! YAY!

music is wonderful, though it's set in the Roaring 20s and features Benny Goodman and Cole Porter (I think at the beginning) music from the 30s

I think the music at 3:50-4:10 is Benny Goodman "Sing, Sing, Sing."

The music in the first scene is like Django Reinheardt and Stephan Grapelli works, I don`t know if it is one of them.

The bell tolls at least for the screenwright. No confidence in Dame Agatha. Bad, bad business.
