...T...That doesn't look like a Stick Insect. THAT Looks like an evolved Scorpion! o.o Still, if it is, I'm shocked of what other shapes and sizes it has.
Haha thats so cute, it looks like its immitating a scorpion and also is immitating the movement of leaves being blown by the wind, thats their natural way of blending in but didnt work out doing it on the guy's arm XD
It's a PSG-9 Extatosoma Tiaratum, We have lots of them. One of the most beautiful species :) And nothing to be afraid of, they don't bite or hurt you at all :)
I have posted a link to this video-clip in an article I wrote about Stick Insects on 'Suite101' (in the 'Fish and Insects' section of 'Science and Nature').

What typ isit? Extatosoma Tiaratum
but what is the common name for it?
THT thing on the tail isnt a sting right?
its a egg aying thing?
Joe1507 4 years ago
I think the common name would be australian stick insect...you're almost right, i'ts the part where the whole stuff (fecals, eggs) comes out.
They don't bury their eggs like some other species, simply let them fall.
JuanLeTwnz 4 years ago
The common name is Giant prickly stick insect or Macleay's Spectre. I got five new babies XD

Extatosoma Tiaratum - i love that species

I have this specie (?) to. It's the Extatosoma Tiaratum, PSG 9. If they are adult they really look like a scorpion.
