  • it's probably just the factory paint from underneath the car burning off. aftermarket exhaust burns hotter.

i want to do all mac setup on my 98 gt with shorty or longtube headers H pipe and mac mufflers or 12 inch cherry bomb glasspacks.

  • The mods you just listed would probably net you 285-300 RWHP with a good tune on an S197. A new edge would probably put you at 275-285RWHP with those mods. A 75mm TB on an S197 would take away power without some form of forced induction. Bigger injectors won't do anything. YOu need fuel and air so think NOS, Supercharger or Turbo.

  • my gt has cai, throttle body spacer, ngk plugs, and magnaflow catback, if i removed the throttle body spacer and put in a 75mm throttle body nd plenum and got an o/r prochamber and 3.73 gears, steeda underdrive pullys and gonna tune my car with xcal 3 tuner would i need to get anything else to make my stuff work good? like bigger fuel injectors or anything and about how much horsepower do you think that would sit me at? around between 350-380?

  • If you are going mainly for price, then yes. Although you can pick up an S197 for 18K if you look in the right places. Then it is almost a no brainer to go with the new ones unless you really are partial to the newedge.

  • 2V OHV

    still a strong engine

  • Yep, plenty of people have very strong 2V motors.

  • there are alot of people who are lame fags and dumbasses in this country/USA. They like to have the little dinky cars with the 0.8 liter engine (to save gas aka tight budget) and the over-placed gadgets to keep themselves entertained because their engine is nothing near entertaining like America's muscle. You have to spend thousands on performance parts to get it to be exciting, and your result? A fast dinky little car that sounds like a hornet.. how intimidating

  • There will always be lamos, But I remember a time when I couldn't afford the car I wanted and all I had was a dinky 1.6 Civic with 70RWHP. I still put the fart cannon on it and a cold air intake. It was slow as can be, but it was mine and all I had. Even though imports are not my thing anymore, I still give props to those who do what they can with what they have. Just my .02

  • yea.

    70RWHP? omg......really? LMAO!

    just playing around with ya.

well now you got a real Sports car from the Company that made the fastest selling car in all time,,,680THOUSAND STANGS SOLD.

The mustang, made by one of the worlds biggest car ferms.

    :)

  • um..more like 9 million since 1964. they sold 1 million in the firsr 18 months

  • fwhp that is

  • Yep... Sorry bout the flub... :)

  • @narshadda Exactly! I've watched a lot of car vids on here, read a lot of comments by a lot of assholes, and what you wrote was the best comment ive seen to this day. Every fuckin word. I had a 1986 300zx with a fart can exhaust n some badass triple platinum spark plugs that, i thought, made it really haul ass lol (yea, that probably screwed the engine up eventually, but not before i sold it). It was awesome....it was mine. And like you, it was all i could afford. I got it for 2,000$.

  • I agree that the 99-04s sound better than the 05+ Stangs but coming from experience, the 3V motor is a far better plateform to build on than the 2V. You can make 300rwhp for less than $1000.

  • Believe me I know.. I am making much more than that with less than 2k in engine mods. :)

The S197 is a totally different animal than the 2V - I miss the sound, but the performance is well worth the trade off.

  • Most definetly. I had 2 new edge GTs, and now an S197 and they are two completely different animals.

  • Should Have Kept The 04 You will never get anything like the sound out of an 05 or newer.

  • the new generation sounds better.

  • the new generation sounds crappier

  • yea, the new generation sounds crappier... though you may find a new one to sound good, you'll never get that low rumble like you do in the earlier mustangs like this one!

  • I agree totally... The 04 sounded so much better than the 08. But my 08 with minor bolt ons is tons faster than the 04 was with full bolt ons.

  • hmmm... but for the price difference and sound difference... id def. rather spend $12K or so on an 03' or 04' vs. $25K on a new one

  • THanks lynchman, traded it in last week for an 08. I get to start all over again. :)

  • nice tone ya got there!
