It took place 1990 in Rome, at the Baths of Caracalla and was conducted by Zubin Mehta.

I learned this song after hearing it accompany the Bellagio water show in Las Vegas. Unfortunately YouTube didn't exist then, and the only complete version I could find on the Net was a RealAudio format by a Korean (!) baritone.

I managed to learn it and sing it in front of my entire company three days later - quite a different timbre than Luciano's ringing tenor, but beautiful in its own way. Wish I had a recording of that moment in time :(

Pavoratti is of course my favorite tenor..I was devastated with his passing, though I am only in my twenties. We have been so fortunate and blessed on Earth to have shared his gift. This song captures for me a bit of my sweet childhood (For the musical arrangement reminds me of Disneys Sleeping Beauty". But it also capture the resonant, and unforgettable passion of a young fair youth in love! This is one of my favorite songs by this master Tenor!
