  • Hey man I just bought this bike, and im making a cafe seat for it, I was wondering exactly how you made it and how you mounted it because i'm having some troubles. any tips?

  • @maxouellettehowitz Well, i welded some extra stuff onto the frame to mount it. The base of the seat is actually a piece of oak. There are steel reinforcements here and there, I used a firm rebond foam, then covered the whole thing in marine vinyl. I'm actually probably gonna redo the seat altogether this winter. I have a different idea now.

  • Where did you get the seat and what kind of handlebars are those?

  • @Tsizzle55 I made the seat myself. They are clip-on handlebars.

  • couple questions..

    1. where'd you get those pipes?

    2. What'd you set your valves to? I set mine to eleven thousandths yesterday on the exhaust side, and 8 thousandths on the intake side.

Very nice looking, any videos from recently? I just got one of these all stock last week and your vid's making me wanna cafe it. ordered clubman bars last night =D

  • @homerunhita12 oh and a little tapping noise is okay, it's when it's quiet that its bad. You don't want to set them too tight because when they expand as the engine gets hot they'll get tighter and potentially damage it. I had a seasoned cb mechanic tell me how to do everything...

  • @homerunhita12 the pipes are for a 450 i believe. Then they go into a 2 into 1 adapter under the bike. I don't remember where everything is from. According to the manual, the valves are supposed to be set at .002 all the way around.. I've heard that making them a little looser is not a bad idea. Right now i have them at .004 on both sides. Most bikes reccomend that the exhaust side has more clearance than the intake. I think im gonna try mine at .004 on the intake and .006 on the exhaust.

  • .011 sounds like a lot to me.

  • @placidjack My mechanic (a honda tech for 20+ years) said that .011 was just right for the exhaust since they heat up faster and the metal expands. My intakes are both set to .008, which he said was fine as well. Seems to be running pretty well, a little bit a noise when it's cold but goes away as the motor gets up to temp
