  • LOL, I watched the onion video a while back and just laughed. Even if you use 2 different metals, the onion wouldn't put out enough voltage to even think of charging the mp3 player.

  • Thumbs up if you typed grant portable music devise and an onion xD

  • Woulda been pretty cool if they actually made one that did it

  • This iwifihack . net app made my ipad (also works on iphone and ipod touch) hack wifi networks

  • some of the most intelligent comments I have ever seen and thats coming from a 10 year old

  • this myth's a failure from the start; you can't make a circuit by sticking a USB connector in an onion, and an onion that's been sitting in gatorade for a while will be a very wet lemon/lime flavored onion, and nothing more. darwin awards to everyone who thought this would somehow work. definitely a hoax made by HHH for kicks and giggles, and it sure worked.

  • @HappyDiscoDeath i lold.. +1 for Darwin Award ref.

  • "it never hurts to double check"

    hehehe... Hertz

  • i know what they did. they just hid a usb extension in the onion an ran it to a computer (thats why it says 'do not disconnect')

  • im starting to lose faith in HHH now...

  • my god , please ... give a brain to those stupid kids on The Internet !

  • It works with a lemon juice soaked cardboard and pennies do not reply i hate people that disagree!

  • @DarkTheShinyUmbreon explain it sounds like it would work!!!!!

  • @TKDAMAN11 Lack of potential difference between the two electrodes that the port consist of, ergo to reason for the electricity to flow. You can charge something with a charger - you close the electric circuit and by doing so you have THE reason for electric current. When plugging two rods of the same material in the same object you won't have current, because you don't have different electron density in the material. Try it yourself - stick two screwdrivers and grab them... or tie a voltmeter

  • @al3k0 dude i wrote that 2 moths ago... i just said that to piss him off

  • Comment removed

  • @halo2995 Get over it PLEASE.... It simply *does* *not* *work*.

  • @halo2995 So thumbs down if you don't agree? Don't bother responding becasue I already gave you a thumbs down. I'm hoping your joking through, cause while I watched the HH videos, I realized immediately they where all fake, and it was one big trolling attempt.

  • @halo2995 really? the reason this failed is because of the two metals that were not present in the "onion battery"

it doesn't matter if the cup or the screwdriver or the towel was wrong. it has to do with how the onion makes a charge.

have you even tried this experiment? if so, i'd like to see it.

if not, get the fuck off of youtube.

  • this myth has too many holes to be even remotely plausible, unless you're dumb enough to believe it

  • @HappyDiscoDeath yeah about 2 holes

  • omg, who ever thoughed that this would work???

  • The reason why it appeared to work is because the moisture made contact in the usb making the ipod think it was plugged into a charging source. I have done it with a cell phone. No power is transfered it just looks that way on the phone when the contact is made. It triggers the charging graphic.

  • @Tyson200422 there is nothing in a gatorade-soaked onion to move current (complete the circuit) to the iPod or do anything remotely related to charging an iPod. basically, it does not do anything at all, except for sit there ans waste your time. PWNED

  • An mp3 charge out of an onion! Really! How stupid do people think we are to actually believe this!?

  • well every bodys saying there idots for putting the video on youtube, think of the stupid people who tryed it and also they got it on mythbusters so i think they done pritty good :)

  • MythBusters has shot down HouseHoldHacker down so many times. I love it

  • I thought at 1:13 first that he was drawing a gravity bong

  • @Amiskone xD hahahha me 2

  • Wow, Grant made no sense at all... even if this DID work, an onion would still be no help if he forgot his charger cable.

  • he used a different measuring cup, and he made a deeper hole with the screwdriver.

  • does somebody knows wich video the one with the floating aluminium foil is?

  • householdhackers video isnt this. they did do the experiment but HH used a differrent ipod and a different measuring cup and screwdriver.

  • Lol, imagine Household Hacker's face once he saw this.

  • hes a fraud, but to trick millions of viewers dont you think he should get some credit?

  • What did that poor onion ever do to you?!

  • i watched that video today... th HH one, along with the mythbuster episode that also busted another ine of his myths god that guys a huge fraud.

  • hey w8 one of my class m8 did this and it actually works

but he used a calculator to be poweted

and it has a copper coin suck on the lemon

    but no onion ^_

  • you can tell cause the wire is under the i pod in the fake video leading to a second wire

  • Grant should get to make predictions about myths much more often. He's got his science down well enough to make great well explained predictions.

  • i love this show so much, these guys have the best job ever

  • @whatukno1975 Yeah... THEN it would work.

  • @n00buler89 Yellow onions have more juice. Ever do the potato battery trick?

  • Naw man...you gotta put the iPod in the bottle of the sports-drink, shake it like hell, put it in the microwave, then put it in the direct sun for 10 hours for it to work man.

  • if you tried it with an itouch, it wouldnt of recognized it anyways w/o a computer :P

  • lol awhhh.. i believed it... thought it woulda been cool...

  • myth CONFIRMED! You now have a smelly USB connector for your iPod.

United Walla Walla Onion Farmers Foundation, Jan Jen Shezian USB Connector Factory and Gatorade Global Group, Inc... we thank you for all your support in this project.

  • and whats when you/he put the coltmeter in the enegy drink wather how much volts is it =

  • they used the wrong ipod!!!

  • Also. Both of the iPodsi n the video charge over FIREWIRE.

  • *iPods, in

  • I think you can do that with a lemon too...

  • looks like a big garlic why do we have different onions??

  • Because your socialist shithole/joke of a country would put a VAT of 25% on a big onion.

  • haha if he forgot to bring his charger, he still can't charge it with an onion. You need to connect the charger...

  • just shove it in the onion XD

  • 1. is that the right onion?

    2. did they used gatorade cuz thats what householdhacker used

  • now that you mention it, it was a language fail, lol, i was tired that day, lol

  • ehhh wrong we didnt waste 2 minuts but tre :/

  • sad but true :.(

lol, but hey, if ur gunna bye an onion and some brawndo, i mean, gatorade, u might as well bye a new charger

  • Language fail (no offense if it's not a first language but if it is, TOTAL fail.)

  • household hacker ftw

  • oh wow, who know gatoraide drinkers were accually drinking battery liquid, wow

  • Wow how stupid.

  • Lol @ idiots who actually thought that would work.

  • Successfull troll is successful. That's all i have to say

  • householdhacker got BUSTED

  • @infoherper TWICE

    (Homeade Hi-Def Speakes)

  • @infoherper It should have been obvious because its USB. A USB cable doesn't just have 2 separate plates leading to iPod (one being positive, the other being negative), it has 4, and they're all made of the same metal, and they're all too close to each other.

  • @infoherper all his videos are fake ;\

  • @iscay666 not all look at the ones with dilan

  • @infoherper householdhacker's cheap speakers thing also got busted by mythbusters.

  • @infoherper i dont thinkl it was HHH. i think it was someone else

  • man thats just retarded cuz you font get a do not disconnect messege when you charge an ipod

  • your right. i tried with every ipod and it works with 1st and 2nd

  • dude.. they disproved it anyway by using a device to detect any electric current.... there was none. :P It wouldn't have mattered what kind of ipod they used, it wouldn't have worked. But I'm wondering if the type of onion makes a difference. o.O

  • I know it wouldn't have, but I'm getting the word that there's no charging message, even though there's a different generation iPod. IDK why my comment saying that the music USB transfer is true was rated low, because for that generation iPod, that's true.

  • That's cool, I didn't know that. ^_^

  • The iPod that Grant has here matches the exact looks for a black, 3rd generation iPod Nano. The one in the video looks like it

s a 1st or 2nd generation. All 3 of those possible iPod Nanos charge only via FireWire. Although it's on Wikipedia, just look up "iPod Nano".

  • @DeltaPhi79 your mom is an idiot, idiot.

  • "Your mom" jokes haven't meant anything since kindergarten. Listen to the M.B.s. They know what they mean.

  • ITS GOT ELECTROLITES!

  • brawndo's got what ipods crave

  • DAMN YOU HHH

  • i tried this it didnt work

  • would lemons work instead of onions?

  • yeah cause of the acidity

  • nothing will work like this

  • OMG THAT WAS HOUS HOLD HAKER!

  • ZOMG REELYL?! I DINT EVN NOTUS!

  • no it is not house hold hacker that is a different ipod

  • i have that same Ipod

  • Where is the video with that car they have in the air useing water?

  • it could be done, but it would require more unions and 2 diffirent types of metal in it, like lead and copper. You can try this : put a piece of led and copper in a citron and measure the voltage between them, it will be around 1-2V.

  • What's the point of that, if you're going to do that you might as well just use a battery, or a charger.

  • not that it makes a difference, but the onion in the video was a yellow onion or a vidalia onion, not a white onion

  • u stupid idiot it is a white onion just cause the skin is yellow doesnt mean its yellow

  • they shoulda used brawndo....

  • haha houshold hacker did that

  • notice how they dont say ipod or gatorade...

  • surely no one can figure out what they are ;)

  • so they dont gotta pay Ipod and gatorade for using there products

same reason why some video games name cars different things

  • lol are you stupid? iPod isn't a company.

  • And notice. It's not Gatorade. There are other sports drinks like it you know. And the MP3 doesn't have iPod or Apple written on it so there's nothing to cover up.

  • umm it is gatorade... you can tell what other sports drink look like that?

  • it dosn't matter the brand of sports drink as long as it has electrolytes in it which gatorade does

  • u mean apple and gatorade apple makes ipods

  • the onion in the video was dry, this one isn't

  • yeah ok they might have but it would not make a lick of difference go back to school or atleast read a little while you are there

    This cant be done

  • they should try modifying the usb so there are dissimilar metals.

  • I never said it was possible, but what I learned in University was that when you are double checking an experiment you must be sure that every aspect of the experiment is the same.

  • it may have some voltage, but there's still very little amperage so very little power (in terms of Watt or joules) being produced.

  • A Cathode can be negative AND positive (of course not at the same time).

It depends on the part. Inside a battery the cathode is positive. On a part like a LED the cathode is negative.

Just take a _good_ chemistry book or go to Wikipedia.

  • Comment removed

  • BUSTED! :D

  • actually the cathode is positive and the anode is negative

  • please take a high school chem class before posting something like this.

the cathode is negative. a cathode ray tube sends electrons through a vacuum

  • Comment removed

  • and also, look at the scene (1:21). It even says that the cathode is positive and the anode is negative on the whiteboard!

  • mythbusters= smart people

    who shows others...

    whats real and fake

  • Did they really think this would work?

  • Geez, people who would believe the onion things wold be so stupid. hehe

Well atleast Mythbusters even show the stupid people, that that isn't possible.

  • wasn't this done by HouseHold Hacker?

    ya know, the "make" parody?

  • yeah it was

  • YAY take that noobs! the net is full of bullshit!

  • if this worked apple should be called onion

  • bad call

  • whoa u wanna know whats wierd i was just watching a household hacker video on this minutes before n it shows that it works n they show footage of the whole cable in the shot from ipod to onion;but mythbuster prove them rong...im with mythbusters all the way but i dont know

  • They could have hidden batteries in the onion.

  • look over what u just said

  • i love how they avoid saying iPod lol apple would go nuts haha

  • ™™™™™

  • The fuck who produced the original video can suck my monster cock

  • i got that same ipod. =)

  • personally, i'd rather fry and eat onions not use them to charge my iPod

  • electrolytes.... it's what plants crave.

  • oops, meant to give ur comment thumbs up...

    BRAWNDO!!!

  • idiocracy lol. some people are that dumb. you want to drink water? what from like a toilet? huh huh huh that's stooopid.

  • thats household hacker in the vid

  • that drink is obviously gatorade, so why did they take off the label?

  • Copyright.

  • Because Gatorade didn't want to pay for Mythbusters keeping the label on.

  • Because Mythbusters didn'tt want to get sued, more like it

  • Don't you think Gatorade would be happy to get exposure on one of the most popular shows on Discovery (for free)? It's not like Gatorade gets a bad rep from not being able to charging a battery.

  • Yeah but they did not say it was gatorade

even though everyone knew it was gatorade, they weren't advertising it.

  • its not gatorade that discovery have to worry about, its the hundreds of other companies who DO pay for advertising and occasional product placement who dont want to see other companies getting things for free. Simple economics.

  • and Discovery doesn't want to give free advertising.

  • what a waste of crap

  • its householdhacker... n00bz ... cant fool anyone... but the mythbusters had to try it... btw the clay one really fucks up ur charging cable

  • Householdhacker doesn't know anything about electricity.

  • the original video is kindof like the household hacker video of how to charge an i pod with youtube and clay. its just an illution

  • i knew this wouldnt work, but how awsome would it be if it did

  • despite the fact that it was fake, he didnt poke a hole all the way through like the other video online.

  • Maybe you can do with lemons!!! but you would have to change the connector...

  • ericsstt : You CAN do it with lemons.

  • lol, they even showed household hacker's video.

  • I wasted 2 min. of my life watching Householdhacker's video... I WANT MY TIME BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • by actually replying like this your wasting more of your "precious" time, so you must have some sort of excess, whats this difference of 2 minutes?

  • It takes less than 2 min to post a comment, householdhacker's videos are useless so it is considered useless, but posting comments might encourage others to not waste their time on householdhacker, and helping someone isn't a waste of time

  • I do that too, I like to tell people how fake it is before they make a fool of themselves.

  • householdhacker did this and i dont think it would work at all as you just seen in this vid

  • differences i see is a different type of onion and he didn't puncture the onion deep like the original video i never tested i might one day when i get a new ipod >.>

  • Also is would show a battery icon charging not the do not disconnect because th
