Lord, I saw this when I was about 11 or 12 --- I've been singing the "I'm Mama ... I'm Papa ... I'm Cynthia" stuff ever since then, not realizing where it came from. That cartoon scream Carol does when all those gay boys come charging out at her --- that's better than Bugs Bunny and Franctured Fairy Tales combined!

I have seven grown children and seven grandchildren now. I think I'll line 'em up for the holidays and make 'em learn this aftwe I'vc got 'em full of "dumplings like lead ..."..

According to Carol Burnett, Julie was "about 10 minutes pregnant," after JA's husband had left her dressing room before this performance...he had been--um--'congratulating' her!

Yeah, I just saw that video, but I also read somewhere that Julie knew she was pregnant, and they decided not to do the hitting thing, but in the heat of the moment Carol forgot and hit Julie.  You can see her asking if Julie is ok at the end of this video actually!

Well actually, according to Julie's autobiography, Home,(paperback) she says on page 306 paragraphs 9-10,"...choreography called for Carol to whack me "accidentally" in the stomach, and for me to double over. When Carol found out I was pregnant, she was horrified to think back to that moment. 'If I'd known you were pregnant, I never would have touched you!' she exclaimed..." I think the ending was planned like that, where she had to look sorry because she just hit her mom!

Absolutely brilliant. Thanks for posting this. This was recorded in March 1962. Almost exactly two years later Julie started filming Sound of Music. Who knew!!! And the fuss over Carols slap to Julies stomach at the end - Julie had just found out she was pregnant.
