In U.S. whenever a male singer sings a song that should be sung by a female singer (and vice-versa), he/she modifies the lyrics. Why does he/she do so? Afraid of being called gay (homosexual) , Brazilian male or female singers never change the lyrics. (GILBERTO SAUGEN FROM BRAZIL)
@gsaugen Some times people just like to make a cover their own... reinterpret it perhaps, rather than rehash it. Besides, not always - check out the White Stripes cover of Jolene for instance.
I heard this for the first time today on the radio and had to search for it. Neil did an exceptional version of this great classic song. He's still got it!
I've was a Neil Diamond fan all through the 70s and early 80s and then he lost his way. I also loved this song by Gladys Night. I have to say Neil has done a far better version than hers ... he is back on top form. What a talent he is.
I first heard this beautiful version in the United Kingdom in November 2010. It was being played frequently on BBC2. Once back in Australia, I was surprised that no-one had heard it...........or cared. This was always a great song, and Gladys Knight certainly did a superb job, but this arrangement puts it is a whole new category. Absolutely stunning.
I loved Gladys Knight singing this song. I am and old Neil Diamond fan who lost touch with him years ago - but I genuinely think he has found his old style again. This is a stunning version. Well done Neil.
Not a big Neil Diamond fan, But i think this version is amazing!!!!!!!
