Besides the British wore low in resources and started to rationalize the food and other stuff so they would keep the country alive and not demoralize the people. I think the UK was the most important nation in ww2 not because they won because if they had fell to germany there would be no D DAY or no STALINGRAD victory because germany would have had another 44 ss divisions for the eastern front. AFTER a couple of years they would have beat the usa aswell so germany would have had world domination.

By the way, the germans did started preparation for an invasion of the UK, converting some ships to be landing crafts, but since the outcome of the battle was the one we know this thing never went ahead to much. And about the royal navy, it was the other way around, that's why they struck first at the german navy and only when they wore at bay.

If you read Hitler's diaries, you will find that he never wanted a war on two fronts. His plan all along was an alliance with the UK and France to fight the soviet Union. When those two countries declared war on Germany, Hitler played the all or nothing card and went to war in two fronts.

I find any of the demands germans made not unreasonable. However the Versailles treaty was a crime in itself.

They started taking the familiar shape after rome and the pax romana fell. then it got stirred up and kicked up several notches by the crusades and their aftermath. they were swept under the carpet by the rise of the Habsburghs who played the sides for their own gain.
