Sorry Aegius but it seems that in addition to putting forth the already frail argument of privilege vs right, you are also just wrong. In spite of what you may hear at church, the US Supreme Court (they're those guys that interpret the law/constitution for us commonfolk) as far back as 1967 with Loving v Virginia defined marriage as "one of the basic civil rights of man". They're those people that, you know, Know More than you do about what is a right and what is not.

Gays aren't fighting for rights. THey are fighting for wants. There is no right to marry; it's a privilege. There is no right to marry your sibling, immediate relative, more than one person. You can't marry someone who refuses to marry you.

Don't compare this the rights Blacks were pursuing - vote, jury, crimes against them made legal. Gays already have their rights. They are now just pursuing wants.

Marriage is NOT a right. It is a PRIVILEGE. Anything that requires consent(like borrowing from someone or entering a person's home or business) is a privilege. A sexual bond prior to marriage is a PRIVILEGE. No rights were taken away from Prop. 8 esp. per CA Family Law 297.5 granting same benefits per domestic partnerships. Gays don't need marriage. Kids do as marriage is 1st and mainly about providing a home to bear and raise kids in.
