Dear God what a beautiful video & tribute to your son/brother. My heart breaks at the loss of your son. I pray to God for your son & your family. What a beautiful loving family you are. Forever in my thoughts & prayers. May God bless you and bring you peace until you meet with your beautiful son again.
Wow what a talented family, so thought provoking, sad but beautiful too! It must have been hard for him to leave a family that obviously loved him so much!
As a African American female Vet, who had a Father who served in the war and a Husband, who served in the war it is a reality of the lost over there, but not yet a reality of the lost thats comes back. My Father carried the war with him to the grave, as I know my husband will too. Sometimes we forget as a country to deal with the lost that comes back home. Our fathers are not our fathers anymore, our husbands, brothers, uncles, nephew, and women who serve never really return to us. God Bless
@babycvb222 Ma'am, "...a reality of the lost over there..., (they) who serve never really return to us..." May All those lost from "over there," One Day find their way back into the Peaceful Refuge that lay in the Willing Hearts of those Who Await with Open Arms of Unconditional Love, Understanding & Patient Humanity... Ma'am, For myself I Thankyou for that insight I was ignorant of & Thankyou for your Most Honorable Service, & Your Husband's. In Memory of Your Father I say, Thankyou Sir, R.I.P.
Lost my Brother to an IED in Nov. 06 .......... He went doing what he loved...... What all the men in my family have loved. God Bless You and God Bless The United States of America, One Nation under God.
@Privateersmc It's the Empty Chair That is Always There..., His Childhood's Smiling Face at the Top of Stair..., His Laughter that No Longer Echos through the Once Happy Hall..., And, It's the Tear in Your Eye that Says it All... How I Love You, How We Miss You... God Bless Him, and You. Yes, One Nation Under God, One Family Under Love... K.L.O'Donnell
So if yu see a ver, please bee a wee bit nicer to them, you have no idea what they have been through and continue to go through. Believe, the VA system is not set up to handle all the PTSD that is happebning and since these people cannot get jobs, no health insurance. Loved the video. May I pplease include these souls in with the battlefield fallen?
Having lost my son to the insanity called war. I would like to comment. He did not died on the battlefield, unfortunately the battlefield was brought home with him in his mind and spirit until he no longer could take the horror of what he had seen and heard and in a drunken stooper took his life. These are the "invisible" wounds of war that polite society does not want or chooses to ignore will continue to take lives for years to come.
@happyrock243, thank you for your words and loving energy all the way from Australia. It is good to know and to be assured of, after the enormous tragedy that my family & so many, so many others have endured, that the world is still good and that are still good and wonderful, kind and compassionate people everywhere. Peace to you and yours
@paratropper82, from the bottom of my broken heart I want to extend words of appreciation to you for your brave service 45 years ago. I am so sorry for the pain it caused you and that you still carry that pain. Thank you brave warrior. You deserve honor and support. You are the type of person who makes me thankful to be from America. You are an example what a good country is made of... I wish you release from the pain and peace...
I watched your video through a veil of tears and listened to the deeply moving & healing words last week. Tonight I read the lyrics; since my son's death my tears often blind me from written words. Please know how powerful and appreciated your song is.Thank you for your kind response to my first comment. My son left behind 3 brothers, 3 stepsisters, 2 sisters-in-law, 1 brother-in-law, 2 nephews, and 1 niece; who born just days before he was killed and his dear sweet bride of 4 months.
@EODmom62087 Ma'am, if I may, I think perhaps the Unparalleled Love that your Beloved Son carried within from his Mother, Beautiful Bride, and All his family; does Shine Eternally through the Lives of those whose Hearts He Remains in Forever... K.L.O'D.
May God bless and protect you. Your brother and son, would wish that you are safe and protected, Live life. Deepest love and I reach out to hold all of you from Australia. God bless.
I love the video and honor who it tributes but my question is, the singers are supposed to be his family but it's just a guy singing, am I missing something?
@jewela74 Hello jewela74, You make me smile, you're right of course, it is"just a guy," me. I didn't feel this is the appropriate place to "describe" what I'm doing as too many beautiful heartbroken people have lost people they love. I sang all 4 parts after I wrote it just to get some kind of recording down, that's why I wrote on it who was singing, so as not to confuse anyone but I'm afraid I have. That was the last thing on my mind. (I'm re-recording w/age and gender appropriate singers.)
Thank you for sharing your poignant tribute to your brother and son. It was very difficult for me to watch, but also healing. My son was KIA in Afghanistan last year. Music has been very healing for our family too as we too have suffered a profound grief. Thank you.
@EODmom62087 Ma'am, I'm so sorry for the loss of your boy. If in some small way my little song has helped you and your family..., God Bless Him, and you and your family always. K. L. O'D.
@EODmom62087 May God bless and protect you. I only pray that we who are left behind prove worthy of not only yours sons sacrifice and yours. I reach out from Australia to hold and protect you.
Its actually difficult to write after watching this video, am a Nigerian but i felt your pain and i cant but say that may God give you courage and strength to go on, find joy in his presence...thank you God bless you and your family may he keep you strong always thank you.
@cape423 Thankyou, you are most generous in your human empathy. It's people like you and other commentators who give me encouragement. And may you and your fellow countrymen stay strong and faithful also, as Nigeria weathers her own sorrows. I wish you well. K. O'Donnell
@joyroos1 Dear joyroos1, Thankyou most kindly, but perhaps God may have bestowed all that Youthful Beauty and Courage, Selflessness and Faith, and Love and Duty for their fellow Brothers and Sisters in Arms, and for The Beauty of the Ideal of their Country, that from them we may gain strength to carry on in this life. K.O'Donnell
I am trying to type the correct words, so be with me at this moument in time. I was in the 173rd Airborne in the mid 60's. Yes it still hurts now in my 70th year of life.
@paratropper82 Sir, The Fallen Brothers..., Forever Young, Always Brave...I Thankyou for your Service. God Bless You. (My Older Brother was a Sentry Dog MP at Ban Me Thuot in '69, he made it back...)
@paratropper82, I lost one of my best friends on 10 Dec 1965 in Vietnam. Robert [Bob] Bohler was in A CO, 2ND BN, 502ND INFANTRY, 101ST ABN DIV. Yes, after 46 years, it still hurts.
I have been able to visit the Moving Wall on two occasions here locally, the last time was on 25 Apr 2005. I found his name on Panel 14E Line 006.
thanksforthemusic, thank you for uploading this video, to share with us in honor of all our heroes.
@MrGVFan Sir, Thank You for stopping by here to let all people of good and true heart know that Forever Young Soldier Robert (Bob) Bohler of A Co., 2ND BN, 502ND INFANTRY, 101ST. ABN DIV. gave The Last Full Measure of Devotion on 10 Dec. 1965 in Vietnam. Reverent hands from their hearts may perhaps soothe some souls by gently running them over Panel 14E Line 006 on the Moving Wall. R.I.P. K.O'D.
@thanksforthemusic , I want to thank you for the reply, and comment that I really didn't expect to receive. That in itself, [the content], shows that there are kind, caring, and tender hearted folk who miss these Brave Hearts, but truly appreciate the sacrifices of these young Warriors, America's finest. Bob was two months, and three days shy of his 20th B-day.

@hrwk4 Dear hrwk4, Hello. God Bless Him, you and your family. My words will never be enough for the loss you are suffering, but your, and others' kindness has allowed me to continue on with this story. My older brother was in Vietnam but he came home. Please send me a personal message through my page, if you wish, and I'll do my best. Until that time...
This is a very moving video honoring our fallen soldiers. The photographs are touching, albeit heartrending in spots, but a necessary emotional tribute reminding us of those that gave their lives and how their families are affected. The lyrics are lovely and nostalgic in content. I particlularly like the line about the big brother's soul flying clear and free, expressing faith in eternal life. Thank you for this special song. The singer's voice is soothing and quite beautiful.
The pictures from the Army memorial are SSG Smith, SGT Reynolds, and SPC White. I was good friends with Edward and Jesse. The soldier in the wheelchair is SPC Ollis, who lost a foot in the blast, as Touhy lost his leg. My thoughts are always with their families. They will always be in my heart.
@iambatkam Dear Sgt. Waling, Sir, Thankyou for letting all who stop by here the names of these Good and Brave men. I am all the more humbled now knowing the names of these soldiers who gave "The Last Full Measure of Devotion." My Respect & Thanks to you and SPC Ollis. Again I say, God Bless Them All.
Great song. We've had so many wars here in Europe, maybe we learnt something, maybe don't. Peace should begins from kindness and respect between people, and I think we have to do all possible efforts in that direction. But sometimes it seems war is the only way...................the only sad path to go.
@VNTPLA Pardon me, Paolo, for not replying publicly before. Thankyou. We humans are so flawed and weak, I suppose that's what makes us so beautiful courageous. Ciao.
My prayers are with you this memorial weekend. As an American, I realize that my freedom is not free and I thank the soldiers for their sacrifices so that me and my children may rest peacefully at night. I, too, lost a sibling in an untimely death and I understand that "sting" and the finality of death. May you continue to find comfort in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
