@MsJK21 Despite you and your husbands need for 20 years of scientific proof and actual numbers put into a five minute video that is only meant to inspire our supporters, what is happening every day in this country and abroad is is very, VERY real. Tens of THOUSANDS of pets have suffered and Timmys owner and myself will not stop creating awareness and educating until there truly is not one more like my Oliver. Ever.
@MsJK21 My Oliver died from his exposure to a flea and tick product, Timmy is living with permanent neurological damage. We have been working for two years to send the message that this genocide must end and have been loud enough for the EPA, major retailers and decision makers within our government to take notice and listen. In a few weeks, we will be returning to Washington DC. I invite you and your husband to accompany us. Hear the stories. Meet those whos pets have died and suffered.

Wow! some people will do anything for attention, eh, "cat-loving scientist?" More like 'terribly transparent plant by the flea & tick industry'! Pathetic really... you gotta rain on some poor kitty's parade crusade with your specious idiocy... Hey TT! I think it's a good sign if your ticking off (please excuse the pun) all the baaaad peoples! You GO! little guy!!! The video ROCKS, btw!!! ;-)
@NonnyMus1 Ummm... So I don't really know of any scientists who post cartoons and anime on their YouTube. If you are a scientist... What's your specialty? Wonk.
@TinyTimmySpeaks My spouse asked me to reply to your questions since you have blocked him and censored his other comments - that's pretty awful behavior in my book.
You now know of a scientist who post cartoon on his YouTube... him! He was replying to a sexist video using the same cartoon format - a pretty good thing to do, I think.
NonnyMus is a retired polymer physicist - also called surface physics. He thanks you for the compliment of "wonk", but doesn't thank you for censorship.
@MsJK21 I seem to remember reading the claim that there are stationary waves. Surely light, a wave, is not stationary. Nor is water. Nor are molecules. This law of physics refers to such things. As with anything that searches for scientific truths - physics I am sure has it's own set of "sub rules". You know, sort of like "i before e except after c"
@velvetblade My spouse was objecting to the mistating of physical law. The statement in the video doesn't say, "Light waves or water waves or molecules can't stand still". It misstated physical law and he hopped on it. Just like he hopped on the incomplete statistics.
He wants me to write three words to you: Schroedinger's Wave Function.
Oh, PS - if he is a retired physicist - maybe you ought to be monitoring his use of "high school" videos, friends and followers. Speaks more to maturity level. PPS - My father is a retired physicist - you know those little things called hard drives? Yup. That's my dad!
@velvetblade You know those little things called heart lung machines? Yep! That's my spouse! Specifically, he solved the problem of permanently adhering the polycarbonite shell to the polyurethane support ring.
His one video was a reply to a sexist vid some kid posted. He cleverly used the same cartoon program to be more effective. Yeah, I think fighting sexism shows great maturity. I think I'll keep 'im!
@TinyTimmySpeaks Oh, he also wanted to ask what law says scientists can't post cartoons and anime on their YouTube accounts? He also likes OK Go! and just finished watching their "White Knuckles" video. Is that also illegal for scientists to do?
Seriously, though, he thinks if your 'wave' consists of fanaticism to the point to censoring and blocking people pointing out the flaws in your video, it's not a wave anyone should join! I agree with him!
@MsJK21 Again. You are ridiculous. If he is, in fact a scientist, then he ought to be able to present his own set of facts to the table from reputable sources. For example, all over YouTube are shorts about causes and thoughts and opinions. Even "science" that boils things down to 5 minutes. Why is it you are so threatened by this? Have you lost a cat, dog or person to Lyme? If so, I am very sorry. It's nasty. And the cartoon, I think goes to show age, as do those who were favorited & followed
@velvetblade He was pointing out shortcomings in the video, not volunteering to fix them! Neither of us are threatened, but want to see facts presented clearly and completely. This is a video that states some facts, then appeals to emotion. As an educator, I hate that. We have enough of that on TV; we don't need more of it.
@velvetblade I can only imagine the '"threatened" is your projection because I'm not threatened by science videos on YouTube! The cartoon showed a clever response to some kid who made a sexist video. He used the same cartoon program the kid did for greater effectiveness. It doesn't show his age, but it sure made the sexist kid angry!
@TinyTimmySpeaks Oh no, now he is going to watch some British television programs! Is that legal for a U.S. scientist to do? Answer quickly because he is turning on the TV right now!!!!!!! OH NOES!!!!!!!!!!
@NonnyMus1 1) The manufacturers claim they have market share but won't release #s of total sold. 2) The reports to the EPA are severely under-reported 3) If in CT 2/10 dogs test positive for Lyme and only 1% show any signs of Lyme (meaning they live happily with it and have no symptoms their whole lives) doesn't that tell you pesticides, the most common "repellant" doesn't work anymore due to over use? Do the same thing and get the same results. Time to think out of the box.
@TinyTimmySpeaks Even I know that you don't 'think outside the box' of facts when you claim to be making a factual argument. Also, I know that if 1.) is true, then you have no basis for claiming 2.) As for 3.), your conclusion doesn't follow from your claim.
I expect you'll block and censor me too, but just wanted to get that out there for a little bit.
"The EPA said it received 44,263 reports of harmful reactions associated with topical flea and tick products in 2008, up from 28,895 in 2007. Reactions ranged from skin irritations to vomiting to seizures to, in about 600 cases, death of an animal." <---is that enough suffering to accurately assess risk!?
@JackNCokeIV Actually the 600 was downgraded. Originally released was 1600, then they took out dog/cat households and multi animal households, bringing it first down to 1200 then 600. YOU ROCK! JnC!
@JackNCokeIV My spouse replied to you, but his comment was removed and he was blocked. I expect this comment to also be removed, but just wanted to let you know that a 'movement' which censors its critics is a bad thing. Thank you for your time.
@JackNCokeIV Nope. You need the total number of animals using the products and the percentage of animals harmed by not using the product to accurately assess risk. If 0.1% if animals using the product die, but untreated animals have a death rate of 1% from flea- and tick-borne diseases, then the product is 10 times safer than not treating. It's basic epidemiology, really. There's a good article on epidemiology in Wikipedia; you ought to check it out!
@NonnyMus1 Really, how scientific do we need to get when veterinarians agree this stuff maims & kills pets!? ONE harmed is bad enough, but when it's hundreds then thousands, it has to stop. I don't care about the physical law...the video is powerful, moving, and accurate for it's purpose. Please don't try to ruin Timmy's crusade. There's obviously not enough time in a short promo video for all the facts. Use Google for that.
@JackNCokeIV My spouse replied to you, but his comment was removed and he was blocked. I expect this comment to also be removed, but just wanted to let you know that a 'movement' which censors its critics is a bad thing. Thank you for your time.
@TheMorriganbf My spouse replied to you, but his comment was removed and he was blocked. I expect this comment to also be removed, but just wanted to let you know that a 'movement' which censors its critics is a bad thing. Thank you for your time.
@TheMorriganbf My spouse was pointing out the shortcomings in the video, not volunteering to fix them! He and I both are in the position where we can afford to use flea- and tick-protection from our vet, but not everyone has access to a vet or can afford their treatments.
If you want to deprive those folks of a dangerous product, I'm all for it, but you also have to prove that its risks outweigh its benefits and TT's mom just didn't do it. I suspect the risks are actually small.
Just wanted to add that I am in no way associated with any flea & tick product or manufacturer. I am a cat-loving scientist who hates to see Science abused. The video has great music, strong emotion and loads of shots of bits of documents & spreadsheets, but it is WAY short on pertinent facts.
That is why I asked for the total #'s of animals using the products and the #'s of animals suffering from tick- and flea-borne diseases. That is what is required to accurately assess risk. Thanks!
@NonnyMus1 Glad to pass onto you anything you feel you may need study wise and information wise from impartial sources (ie not industry supported but peer-reviewed). Check tinytimmy [dot] org and you will find well researched and documented articles. If you are a scientist, then you must weigh all the facts before evaluating one thing over another.
@TinyTimmySpeaks My spouse replied to you, but his comment was removed and he was blocked. I expect this comment to also be removed, but just wanted to let you know that a 'movement' which censors its critics is a bad thing. Thank you for your time.
@TinyTimmySpeaks Nonnymus asks why you didn't put a summary of the results of those studies in your video if you have them on your website? Surely they have a percentage of animals harmed in the abstracts. Or is that number too low for your fanaticism?
@MsJK21 Actually, if you paid attention, you would see that the manufacturers won't release sales figures, claiming trade secrets. This way many can claim they have market share. Why aren't there 1,000's of pages of information on here? You are ridiculous. 5 minutes. Obviously it's complex. God! I love SHILLS! Feeling threatend by a CAT!
@velvetblade 1.) She has gaps from 0:40 - 0:50; 1:00 - 1:25; 2:03 - 2:25 & many more - plenty of time to put in complete information. The information can be obtained from more than one source such as Environ. Activism groups or the EPA (file a Freedom of Information request).
Even if she had done a guesstimate, that would have been more acceptable. In 2008, there were ~154MM cats and dogs in the US (per AVMA). If 1 in 500 used the products, that makes 308k total & 0.4% killed (con).
@velvetblade (con.) 14% have "severe" reactions, although the severity isn't defined. "Vomiting" is highlighted on one of the docs but we don't know if vomitingis a "severe" reaction. I'd like to know if the figures are inflated by classing that as a severe reaction because, you know, my cats vomit all the time no matter what!
So, even a guesstimate gives an idea of the risks. If a 0.1% risk of dying is 53% higher than the year before, then the risk was ~0.7% in 2007.
@velvetblade 3.) I'm glad you love shills. I don't. My spouse & I are not shills. Just a retired scientist and a teacher criticizing a video.
Your last sentence is puzzling. I have felt threatened by feral cats in the past. Feeling threatened is a wise reaction because they bite and claw. Both can leave you with pain and a bad infection. Is that what you meant?
@TinyTimmySpeaks In fact - not only is it not censored, Timmy offers to provide you with whatever you need. Or, you could actually find it yourself, but you know... probably too busy trying to pick on a good cause instead... Must have energy and time to burn.
@velvetblade Well, no, Timmy doesn't offer whatever my spouse needs. He asked for the total number of pets using the products to accurately assess the risk to those pets. What he got instead was censorship and blocking. He comments on a lot of fanatical videos and TT's mom is the only one who has censored and blocked him. That shows how reluctant "Timmy" is to provide accurate information.
@TinyTimmySpeaks So why did you block and censor him instead of providing the information he asked for? And why do you reply to him when you still have him blocked so he can't reply except through me?
He doesn't want to do research for your 'cause'. He wants you to present complete information in your video. We both agree wholeheartedly with your last sentence! Why don't you present all the facts?
@NonnyMus1 So... Nonny... Tell me... is your cartoon on your channel scientific fact? Probably not. This is about EDUCATING pet owners about the dangers not only to animals, but to humans especially toddlers, and advocating for safer alternatives. If you want "all the facts" it certainly isn't going to be from a 5 minute video, now, is it?
@TinyTimmySpeaks If it is education, then you should be educating all the facts. You had plenty of time in the video to give more complete facts. Also, there were no alternatives presented. It's a bad educational video and you should stop censoring and blocking those who say so.
@MsJK21 Jeeze. Too much time on your hands? Or feeling threatend? You can find what you seek elsewhere. It's been done. How about this - YOU come up with disputed facts. In fact, the only facts quoted in here are the EPA statistics. Wanna really dispute that? SHOW ME!
@velvetblade Nobody is disputing the facts, just pointing out that they are incomplete so accurate risk can't be assessed. Show you? I doubt that is possible. It's worse than arguing with a fundamentalist!
@MsJK21 Who are you to judge this a "bad educational video" or decide what should be included? Do YOU have all the facts? You're awfully bossy and hard up for attention. If those who posted YouTube videos were not meant to block troublemakers, then why did YouTube give them that right? Go bother someone else and leave Timmy & his supporters alone. We are only trying to save beloved family pets, companion animals and even humans from senseless suffering or even death.
@JackNCokeIV If you are really trying to save family pets, you should want to accurately assess risk. If the risks from the products are greater than the risks of not using them, then OK. But the video really should show that. It doesn't, so it's a bad educational video.
TT's mom is the only person who has blocked my spouse (and possibly me - I'll find out when I hit "Post"). He comments on all sorts of fanatical vids - UFO nuts, religious nuts, dog fighters. She's the only coward.
@hughpsenior So, more than one more dog suffering from heartworm? And more than one more cat suffering from Lyme disease? And more than one more puppy or kitten suffering from flea anemia?
I know the video moved you, but it doesn't come near to stating the full facts nor the alternatives. Please take a deep breath and consider all the facts.
@NonnyMus1 Do your homework Nonny. There are safer alternatives and to think there aren't you haven't looked. In fact, other alternatives work better than the pesticides in flea & tick products. Fleas & ticks are getting immune to them so they need to become more and more toxic. That creates an issue long term as well - in the form of rising diabetes, cancers, neurologic issues, etc in BOTH humans and animals. I have the studies & statistics to back it up... Do you?
Very moving! Wish they would get rid of this mess! I remember my lips going numb from using flea and tick shampoo on dog after dog after dog when I worked at PetsMart groom salon. Wish I could do more to help :/
@PromosbyRicochet There is much you can do to help that does not require money, only a little time and effort. Writing, calling, faxing, sharing this video and Timmy's story... BE THE WAVE!
@PromosbyRicochet If your lips were going numb, then you obviously weren't taking proper safety procedures. Did you read the labels on the shampoo before you started using it?
@PromosbyRicochet Groomers sadly have higher incidences of issues such as some cancers and neurological diseases because of repeat exposure. You do much to help - YOU ARE THE WAVE!
@MsJK21 Despite you and your husbands need for 20 years of scientific proof and actual numbers put into a five minute video that is only meant to inspire our supporters, what is happening every day in this country and abroad is is very, VERY real. @MsJK21 Sorry, that last line should read the risk was ~0.07% in 2007. Where are my reading glasses?
MsJK21 7 months ago
@velvetblade 3.) I'm glad you love shills. I don't. My spouse & I are not shills. Just a retired scientist and a teacher criticizing a video.
Your last sentence is puzzling. I have felt threatened by feral cats in the past. Feeling threatened is a wise reaction because they bite and claw. Both can leave you with pain and a bad infection. Is that what you meant?
MsJK21 7 months ago
@TinyTimmySpeaks In fact - not only is it not censored, Timmy offers to provide you with whatever you need. Or, you could actually find it yourself, but you know... probably too busy trying to pick on a good cause instead... Must have energy and time to burn.
velvetblade 7 months ago
@velvetblade Well, no, Timmy doesn't offer whatever my spouse needs. He asked for the total number of pets using the products to accurately assess the risk to those pets. What he got instead was censorship and blocking. He comments on a lot of fanatical videos and TT's mom is the only one who has censored and blocked him. That shows how reluctant "Timmy" is to provide accurate information.
MsJK21 7 months ago
@TinyTimmySpeaks So why did you block and censor him instead of providing the information he asked for? And why do you reply to him when you still have him blocked so he can't reply except through me?
He doesn't want to do research for your 'cause'. He wants you to present complete information in your video. We both agree wholeheartedly with your last sentence! Why don't you present all the facts?
MsJK21 7 months ago
@NonnyMus1 So... Nonny... Tell me... is your cartoon on your channel scientific fact? Probably not. This is about EDUCATING pet owners about the dangers not only to animals, but to humans especially toddlers, and advocating for safer alternatives. If you want "all the facts" it certainly isn't going to be from a 5 minute video, now, is it?
TinyTimmySpeaks 7 months ago
@TinyTimmySpeaks If it is education, then you should be educating all the facts. You had plenty of time in the video to give more complete facts. Also, there were no alternatives presented. It's a bad educational video and you should stop censoring and blocking those who say so.
MsJK21 7 months ago
@MsJK21 Jeeze. Too much time on your hands? Or feeling threatend? You can find what you seek elsewhere. It's been done. How about this - YOU come up with disputed facts. In fact, the only facts quoted in here are the EPA statistics. Wanna really dispute that? SHOW ME!
velvetblade 7 months ago
@velvetblade Nobody is disputing the facts, just pointing out that they are incomplete so accurate risk can't be assessed. Show you? I doubt that is possible. It's worse than arguing with a fundamentalist!
MsJK21 7 months ago
@MsJK21 Who are you to judge this a "bad educational video" or decide what should be included? Do YOU have all the facts? You're awfully bossy and hard up for attention. If those who posted YouTube videos were not meant to block troublemakers, then why did YouTube give them that right? Go bother someone else and leave Timmy & his supporters alone. We are only trying to save beloved family pets, companion animals and even humans from senseless suffering or even death.
JackNCokeIV 7 months ago
@JackNCokeIV If you are really trying to save family pets, you should want to accurately assess risk. If the risks from the products are greater than the risks of not using them, then OK. But the video really should show that. It doesn't, so it's a bad educational video.
TT's mom is the only person who has blocked my spouse (and possibly me - I'll find out when I hit "Post"). He comments on all sorts of fanatical vids - UFO nuts, religious nuts, dog fighters. She's the only coward.
MsJK21 7 months ago
@NonnyMus1 Doesnt look censored to me!
velvetblade 7 months ago
@velvetblade TT's mom didn't get all his comments. Sorry, she's a coward and is providing inaccurate information to you all.

@hughpsenior LIKE HIM. EVER!
TinyTimmySpeaks 7 months ago 2
@hughpsenior So, more than one more dog suffering from heartworm? And more than one more cat suffering from Lyme disease? And more than one more puppy or kitten suffering from flea anemia?
I know the video moved you, but it doesn't come near to stating the full facts nor the alternatives. Please take a deep breath and consider all the facts.
NonnyMus1 7 months ago
@NonnyMus1 Do your homework Nonny. There are safer alternatives and to think there aren't you haven't looked. In fact, other alternatives work better than the pesticides in flea & tick products. Fleas & ticks are getting immune to them so they need to become more and more toxic. That creates an issue long term as well - in the form of rising diabetes, cancers, neurologic issues, etc in BOTH humans and animals. I have the studies & statistics to back it up... Do you?

Another great feature film Timmy, you are awesome! I am so proud to be your friend, and you used an Aussie song!
Myronsmum 7 months ago
@Myronsmum Of course! I did that just for you! (Actually, my iPod has a nice selection of Aussies!)

Very moving! Wish they would get rid of this mess! I remember my lips going numb from using flea and tick shampoo on dog after dog after dog when I worked at PetsMart groom salon. Wish I could do more to help :/
PromosbyRicochet 7 months ago
@PromosbyRicochet There is much you can do to help that does not require money, only a little time and effort. Writing, calling, faxing, sharing this video and Timmy's story... BE THE WAVE!
TinyTimmySpeaks 7 months ago
@PromosbyRicochet If your lips were going numb, then you obviously weren't taking proper safety procedures. Did you read the labels on the shampoo before you started using it?
NonnyMus1 7 months ago
@PromosbyRicochet Groomers sadly have higher incidences of issues such as some cancers and neurological diseases because of repeat exposure. You do much to help - YOU ARE THE WAVE!
