What's the difference between a TR5 cam and a TR6 cam? I know there are two models for the TR6, 125 bhp and 150 bhp, but I don't know the difference between those and the TR5 cam.
118hp@ the wheels! Wow!!. What would that be at the crank?. I just put a offer on a 71 GT6 in very good condition. But from what I have read its only 95hp at the crank. Owner said the motor was redone 3 years ago and seems to run fine. The only modifications done to it was a 5spd Frontline T9 Transmission from a place in UK & Corsa exhaust. Here is hoping I get the GT6.
Hi - The rolling road worked it out ot be 150bhp @ the crank - yeah the original GT6's mk 1's had 95bhp @ the crank - the mk11's and early mk111's had 104bhp and the late mk 111's had 98bhp. Shame I've not got any in-car footage of my own race car as this was 160 bhp at the rear wheels (200bhp @ the crank) - anyway glad you like the footage - have a look at my blog and see what I'm upto with my race car now and a T5 Volvo lump - regards Mark
Hi nmanville sorry for the late reply, been moving house, mods to the 6 its the original block + 30' flat top pistons zero deck clearance balanced bottom end inc damper/flywheel/cover plate, balanced shot peened rod early rods, TR5 cam, 2.5 'S' head with large inlets, 11.5 : 1 comp ratio, twin CD 150's and ram pipes, 6:3:1 exhaust, dyno's @ 118 @ the wheels, if you want more reliable power stay away from any Kent or TT profile cam they dont work, stick with the TR5 cam and the 6:3:1 exhaust
Hi Chris, yeah its a mk2,the gearing on the standard cars( mk1, mk2 & mk3)was either straight gearbox with a 3.27:1 diff or overdrive gearbox with a 3.89:1 diff,so in stock form both would do around the 110mph mark tops, the gt on the video was running an overdrive gearbox and a 3.89:1 diff, managed to get her up around the 125mph(in overdrive)buy the end of the testday with a few tweeks to the ignition/carbs, so I was pulling 118-119 mph in forth gear, the lump pulls 7500 rpm in top, cheers mark

A 71 GT6 mk3 should still have the mark 2 engine in it (changed in 72 i'm told) so should be 104 bhp.

Nice driving. Is that a mk2? I've heard they've got the tallest gearing and you appeared to be hitting over 115mph.
