This is why you pay more for LV and other high end brands because they don't have big machines crank out 10000 shoes a minute like Nike or something like that. An why they last longer.
When I was a child, a poor child in a small town and distant in Brazil, my shoes were handmade by old men in a small shoe store. Because these days, poor people buy their shoes in this manner. Artisans madeshoes like this video. Not as beautiful as this but handmade, each piece. This video reminds me of those childhood days
The skill of the shoemakers? The quality of the materials? I don't know, these are just suggestions. What I do know is that things are worth whatever people are willing to pay. In the world of fashion, name is everything regardless of the fact that it adds nothing to the intrinsic quality of the item. The name is worth whatever people are willing to pay for it.
It makes me sad seeing this cause untill my father got sick i saw him doing that kind of job in a larger scale every fuckin day and getting payed minimum wage. I saw him work is health off almost 24/7 to get an average car. Now he has severe injurys and can't work and its not getting any income... while each shoe of this "epic" brand is being sold by the price of his monthly income :(
It's all about Marketing. It worths. For sure it's expensive for us, mortal people. But if you love it more than a shoe, if you want quality and know how perfect and careful is the process to do that, then have it. The problem with people is that most of the rich ones honor their ego, status and visibility. But the shoe (or any other cloth/accessory) and the brand are the main key.
well... thats about how every handmade shoe is made in Portugal and they dont cost 900 bucks they average 15 euros factory price without the expensive italian leather and they last up to 20 years also, funny uh...
@antosomething Hey, I work in a high end men's shoe store selling Church's which are made in the same way. There are 236 processes at least that go into making stitched leather shoes, these processes are done by people being paid correct wages, skilled in making shoes, not to mention the quality of the leather is of the highest caliber. We tend to find that if looked after correctly that a pair of stitched high quality leather shoes such as the LV's or Church's can last up to 20 years.
I admired the Italian craftsmen at their trade but I think that most that people who buy these shoes couldn't give a shit about watching this video and giving respect to how it is made.
@212Dude212 When America goes to war so does Australia at the expense of Australian tax payers .Before 9/11 our military budget was 5billion in 2011 it was 27 billion a year. There are only 21 million people in Australia and only 11 million work to pay taxes. 88,000 legal immigrants left Australia in 2011 because it is to expensive to live here, and we are going to go to war again.
@r902179 Australia goes to war because we support our American allies not because we are forced into it by the Americans. If you put it that way, then a majority of the nations in the world should worry about the outcome of the presidential elections. Instead of worrying about who wins the presidential elections, you should worry about who becomes the next Australian prime minister because that person can also determine if we go to war or not.
@dannyboiiiiii94 oh shut up. you can use the "kids starving in africa" line for anything.
i mean look at you, on the internet, watching videos on your computer while there are kids starving in africa. why dont you sell your computer and donate the money to them?
@Swooshswish Louis Vuitton products are made in France or Spain. This is the largest luxury goods producer in the world, not fucking Nike. When you pay $1000 for a pair of shoes you expect this kind of quality.
Interesting comment there, well I am sure by now, the Chinese can also make the exact same quality of leather shoes if they wanted to given the same amount of wages for labor. I don't see anything particular in this video that is different from shoe making procedure in China except this is "Made in France".
WOW that is great quality! my willingness to pay for a pair of shoes like that is $100. And I have never bought a pair of shoes over $80..8D... how much so I can get a pair!
@OriginalDeathpill Most business shoes are leather soled. The point of them is that you can have them resoled after they've been worn through, which you can't with rubber. Also you can have a rubber placed on top of the sole after wearing them for a few weeks.
@dbb008 Plus the years of practice, the tools, the machinery, the quality of the product, and those materials cost much more than $5 and it takes much more than 1 hour to make.
I often think about how the things around me were made where they came from and who might of came in contact with an object before I purchased it. Never has my imagination resembled this; it usually involves poor Asians, crammed sweatshops, and inefficient highly pollutant manufacturing processes.
