  • What do your call that decoration jelly in bottle beside the monitor. been trying to find one. its look so cool very hypnotic.

  • Fred, have you had a chance to compare the FR160 vs the FR360? I have both and, atleast with mine, the FR160 works much better as far as solar power is concerned. The FR160 worked continuously for about 8hrs in sunlight while the FR360 required a crank every 15 mins or so even in direct sunlight. Thanks.

  • @fredhart also could correct me if so sorry for doubleposting

  • @fredhart great review would you think this would be a good Christmas present, i heard this has a sort charge/ very very short battery life / re charge life

  • can do you have to hand crack to power the phone is there a function to let the sun charge it?

  • Can you charge the phone via Sun and/or the built in rechargeable battery?

  • Nice job...whats the thing infront of your pc with green scrolling words?

  • Very good tutorial. The amazon reviews for this were mostly poor, but I'm thinking it's because buyers either didn't understand how to use it or used it as a regular radio. It's not meant to play your favorite radio station all day. It's an Emergency radio, to be used periodically during an emergency situation.

  • and here it is ....

    hahahahahahahaha.

  • Can I buy one here in Pakistan ? Can u give me an idea where can I get this thing in Pakistan ?

  • GREAT REVIEW, thanks! Do you know, or does anybody else here know, if this unit will charge an iPod or Kindle via the USB charger?I just ordered one today.

  • GREAT REVIEW. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

  • hey. have have just put my order in for the eton fr360 from ebay then watched this and im quite impressed. great vid

  • I just ordered the FR500 like 5 minutes ago. Cant wait to get it and review it.

  • Don't know if I'll go with the eton but I'll be definitely be buying a solar radio after this review.

  • I have one from another company with the same features. everyone should have one.

  • Good review. Those yoga mats are pretty cool backdrops huh?

  • I have bad experience with cheap wind-up radios and flashlights, the battery always died on me within a year. I'd prefer something with standard AA size rechargeable batteries.

  • To continue my though.

    I own The Kaito WRX911.

It has Shortwave Radio AM Radio and FM Radio.

It is very small to carry, you can get pretty good reception with the Shortwave Radio if you take a Wi-Fi Antenna and strip and tape the wires to the extendable antenna

The FM Radio is so so, but when you buy a mono radio you arent really buying it for the FM Radio

Anyway one of the great things about the radio is how crystal clear the AM Radio Reception sounds I was impressed.

  • Great link at the end. Thanks for it.

Anyway, the number one rule when you carry something in a big out bag, make sure the things you carry aren't so big, and never rely on a multi-tool depending on what it is for all your things you need to do.

I've seen hand crack re-charger for your cell phone for less money than this radio.

Also, what about a shortwave radio? Did you know that in third world countries, shortwave radio is the way they get their news?

    I own a Kaito WRX911.

  • Great video Fred

  • thx, C Crane Radios so these are the best??

  • thats awesome fred, i need to look into these

  • that cell phone app is cool, and the radio is very cool, is the text scroll an app as well? great vid!

  • @thomassmyth65 It's called LED Display

  • I jumped the gun, lol, I was so excited!

  • if that's a 7 out of 10, then what is 8 9 and 10?

  • @tumordick Better build quality, better sound and reception. Check out C Crane Radios :)

  • Say, would you allow the phone to die, and then see about that charge? I'd like to see that. Another great examination, thanks!

  • @ 6:55 how surprising with AT&T you have no signal :D

either way, I might look into the radio.

  • @MrModernNinja That is funny!

  • Awesome piece of kit, but everyone of these I've had (red cross one included) has busted inside of 3 months. Might want to carry two just for reliabilities sake.

  • @MegaGevehr I'll be carrying it everyday to see how it holds up

  • My friend always tells me that real men never read instructions. That's a lot of features for a small package. Nice video and review.

  • @biguy525 Thanks my friend

  • @biguy525 is that why I don't read them?

  • @TheFirearmsChannel Thank you so much Mike!

  • @semiautoriflelover I love my stop motion :)

  • Good review Fred but, I think they could of done a much better job on that radio since its Red Cross endorsed. IN A EMERGENCY you need a TOUGH unit. I have looked at those and read the reviews and others and I am still looking because of poor ratings. If you find a good one let me know that can pull the stations. Thanks!

  • @aaadream This actually pulls in stations pretty good for me, I was surprised, especially after reading reviews. I did not play any of the AM or FM stations in the video because of copyrights.

  • @fredhart Thanks!

  • Great review, but I have a question. Will the solar panel charge the cell phone or only the dynamo? I checked the ETON website and could not find any specific info.

  • @cornflake71 It's only the Dynamo, I guess the solar cell just doesn't provide enough juice at one time

  • Nice. Been wanting to get my hands on one of those for awhile.

  • now that I know about it. I am probably going to have to get one of those. :0)

  • @Roberthurz You see your name on my iPhone :)

  • Awesome review Fred! That USB --> iPhone thing sold me on it as well. I ordered one after watching ;).

  • @supermaucat Thank you sir

  • very cool lol radio..
