@jonnyv1nj go on 'picnik' and edit the picture on there.. you can blur faces out on that.. then save it as you would normally, then add it to the movie :) if you don't know what picnik is, then it's a free editing programme that everyone is like obsessed with, there is loads of video's on here on how to use it but it's really easy.
Hello Everyone! Can you custom pan on windows live like on imovie? Im migrating from it to windows and need help. Some photos i use have graphic parts i don't want to show but from what it appears as from this is you can't. Please let me know :D

The old movie maker is much better in some aspects because you can add customize addons, but some people keep using "LIVE" movie maker because its more handy than the old movie maker :)

you probably new this since i think you made it but you can make consecutive "titles" but deleat the title and the add text will still be there and you can add that to a video and you will have zoom-in text. can you tell me if there is an easier way to do this and if you knew about this allready. thanks

Also, make sure you have more than 1 file on the storyboard, and that you have the 2nd file selected, in that way, you will see all transitions!! (Selecting the first asset only, we only show few transitions)

Unfortunately, you can only apply Auto P&Z to photos and videos. Random Transitions is not available in WLMM. What you can do, is that you can select an Automovie Theme: Cinematic, Contemporary, Pan and Zoom, Sepira, BlackAndWhite. Each one will apply different types of Transitions to all the files on the storyboard.
When can I use pan and zoom because I'd rather spend some dollars on whatever Sony or Adobe puts out there to where I can truly EDIT a video. Not Windows Slideshow Creator or Limited Short Video Editor.

@superguy940 Sorry, but Windows Live Movie Maker doesn't include any effects that will look like explosions. Definitely let the developers know you'd like to see it included in future releases though:

windows 7 sucks. they said they packaged this windows version because they really listened to what the customer wanted. BS! They removed pan & zoom & the speed controls on videos! who gives a shit whether your photos do it. sure thats nice but the fundamental use of zoom was to get rid of ugly wide shots if a person is making a speech. @Gnarvelous I don't believe that this is an available option in Windows Live Movie Maker. You can add effects to existing video, cut and paste and assemble parts of a video into a whole, and add transition effects between elements, but there is no way to speed up of slow down the playback. You'll need a different program to do that.

yes I worked that out about a week ago & realized windows 7 simply removed the good effects so now you have to pay for what was once given for free so i ask myself & indeed everyone else here what is the point in upgrading software now since we have reach a saturation point of new negative gains xp was probably the last well known windows where most things worked well. Even their search program was much better with dogy & u didn't constantly have to add in more files to be included in searches
um Can you put like stars that you download on the pictures like lets say i go to pond5 and download cool stars and then i want to make them appear ON the pics how do i do that?

@WindowsVideos That's why I consider the old version a lot better than the new one. Zoom and Slow Motion are some of the things I'd mostly use on Windows Movie Maker.

@coolvideo5 You can still fade to white. Although it's a little trickier, it's more customizable. You just need to add an end title and then change it to white (or whatever color you'd like) and then choose the fade from the transitions. Pan and Zoom effects only apply to Pictures, but not videos. Hope this helps and please let developers know you'd like to see it included in future releases:
can you add more captions than just the title the one caption and the credits? im wanting to make a video of just one image and i cant seem to find hardly any effects. cant you just zoom in on a picture?
You can only add those 3 types of text boxes, but you can add multiple captions by changing the duration. Changing the text placement is as easy as editing the space in the text box. You can also add zoom to an image from the "Animations" menu under Pan and Zoom effects.
Nothing is available at this point. It's definitely something people would like to see, but it's a much more complicated process. Please let the developers know it's something you want to see in future releases:

when i have no videos in the box where you put the vids and pics the effects are there, but when i put vids and pics in the box no effects are there. what do i do!!!!

when i got windows 7 i was really excieted for an updated windows movie maker.
sorry, but im super disapointed.
there is no way to speed up, slow down, zoom in, or zoom out features for videos.
there are no add on effects..
im very very disapointed.
the new auto movie thing dosent hep me at all.
windows live movie maker was such a downgrade.
there is honestly NOTHING better about it. :|

windows 7 sucks. they said they packaged this windows version because they really listened to what the customer wanted. BS! They removed pan & zoom & the speed controls on videos! who gives a shit whether your photos do it. sure thats nice but the fundamental use of zoom was to get rid of ugly wide shots if a person is making a speech. Since Microsoft has completely failed in this respect how can i remove this trash now from my windows 7 & can anyone suggest a better movie maker like ulead etc?

totally degraded. now zoom cant work with vids like it used to. u need zoom for vids where idiot cameraman had too wide a shot & u want to crop it or zoom in whilst it was playing to actually see the persons face. another great thing that worked now erased by some corporate fool mean bastard that make u pay for the same privilege that was free b4 in some super delux upgraded version. & u cant make boring bits of vid double speed up like b4. I hate that u cant drop it in a time line= de evolution

@Gnarvelous I don't believe that this is an available option in Windows Live Movie Maker. You can add effects to existing video, cut and paste and assemble parts of a video into a whole, and add transition effects between elements, but there is no way to speed up of slow down the playback. You'll need a different program to do that.

yes I worked that out about a week ago & realized windows 7 simply removed the good effects so now you have to pay for what was once given for free so i ask myself & indeed everyone else here what is the point in upgrading software now since we have reach a saturation point of new negative gains xp was probably the last well known windows where most things worked well. Even their search program was much better with dogy & u didn't constantly have to add in more files to be included in searches

@coolvideo5 You can still fade to white. Although it's a little trickier, it's more customizable. You just need to add an end title and then change it to white (or whatever color you'd like) and then choose the fade from the transitions. can you add more captions than just the title the one caption and the credits? im wanting to make a video of just one image and i cant seem to find hardly any effects. cant you just zoom in on a picture?

You can only add those 3 types of text boxes, but you can add multiple captions by changing the duration. Changing the text placement is as easy as editing the space in the text box. You can also add zoom to an image from the "Animations" menu under Pan and Zoom effects.

Are you trying to Pan and Zoom on a video or image? Pan and Zoom only works for photos at this point.
