I'm gonna be perfectly honest, my USP experience(9mm, Compact) was luke warm. It's clearly an excellent gun, but it's not amazingly comfortable, the decocker/safety gets in the way of the slide release(which would be excellent otherwise). However, the 800-1000 dollar price range is just too steep.
The magazines are horrible as well, I still have marks from where it cut me a month and a half later.
@hshadow86 Just put out about 500 rounds off mine today, and I must say the magazines are horrible. Nothing else on the gun bothers me much, but the magazine is a pest. It really slices your thumb up, the spring is very strong in it, making it very hard for younger people in the family. My buddy sold me some government issue 12 round mags that are pretty dang nice though. His mags are a lighter spring making it easier to load while still being strong, better designed, hold more rounds, ect.
I appreciate it when handgun reviewers show their viewers that the gun is unloaded. Seeing this over and over reinforces how important that step is, even to casual viewers and people who do not own guns, such as myself.

H&K USP is pretty awesome and I too ma a proud owner. Very simple and reliable, easy to maintain, easy to line up sights but somehow I still like my Kimber Custom I 1911 just a tad bit better if only for the trigger pull. There's just something about the feel a 1911 trigger has IMO. Also, to my preference, I like the 1911 grip a little better too. Nothing wrong with the H&K USP grip and trigger, just a preference. Both are awesome weapons that I trust my life with.

Hey how much u got ur USP .45 for? Here in Miami FL, i can't find any new otb for less than $1100 and $859 used. Im contemplating between the USP .45 or the USPc 9x19mm (both V1) my budget is at least $1000. whut do u think i should get? look forward to your feedback.
@drMerc- I use a HK USP 9 as a carry weapon. I've shot it into hog flesh before and it has great expansion and does a good amount of tissue damage. .45 just gas better penetration. Sometime to much actually. I do prefer my FNP 40 using 165 grain TAP rounds(I believe they are 165. I know they are less than 180. Sry I threw away the box so I can't check). Anyway, I think the 9mm is a great round especially when using +p ammo.
@GunNut.. Shotguns are indeed manstoppers. When it comes to rifles though it really depends on the caliber and more importantly the type of round itself. G.I. (gov. issued) .556 won't stop an Iraqi for crap at times. It'll just punch through. Now if a .45 will stop a 200 pound hog (sorry no experience shooting racists with .45s) then I'm sure it'll stop a bad guy ( or even a 200 pound racist maybe).

Out of curiosity, what did you have to do to get a concealed carry permit? I'm going to purchase an H&K USP .45 too (big fan, as well), when I am 21, and I will want to get a concealed carry license, seeing as it's not particularly safe where I live. Although I haven't really looked into it much yet because I've still got a couple years. (And hopefully Obama doesn't f*** me over completely as far as gun control goes by then)

I believe ANYBODY who has read the constitution and upholds it decided to boost guns sales this past year. Don't think too many people with an HK 45 are "scared." In my opinion, these pistols are rivaled only by the 1911 in terms of reliability and quality. And I think they are right on par with regards to accuracy. When I was looking for another non-1911 .45 to use for competition, I took a look at the USP. I was looking at the Mark 23 or the Expert. I went with the expert simply because I didn't need the threaded barrel and I never had one FTF or FTE. Thousands of rounds through it and still going.

The USP's are used by a couple of special forces groups around the world. I know that HK had a contract with the Special Operations COMMand to make a few pistols for their duty carry sidearm and the HK's that were submitted went through riggerous and extreme testing. the HK's had to meet a certain standard set by the U.S. military, i.e. temperature tests, saline mist, sea salt, extreme heat, and muddy sludge tests just to name a few. they passed with flying colors.
I would! At 50 feet I can put them in your ear with the 45 and at 100 feet in your heart all day long. This is one of the most accurate weapons I have fired and I tell you I have fired many pistols in my life. The only issue with H&K is they are flipping expensive! When your life depends on it go for the best - H&K!
This is a great handgun in my opinion and i think you review your firearms very well. I have seen alot of people who dont treat their firearms with respect and care. I like how you make sure that it is unloaded and always keep your finger off the trigger. You should start showing off your sights. Great review and keep it up.

Out of curiosity, what did you have to do to get a concealed carry permit? I'm going to purchase an H&K USP .45 too (big fan, as well), when I am 21, and I will want to get a concealed carry license, seeing as it's not particularly safe where I live. Although I haven't really looked into it much yet because I've still got a couple years. (And hopefully Obama doesn't f*** me over completely as far as gun control goes by then)

I believe ANYBODY who has read the constitution and upholds it decided to boost guns sales this past year. Don't think too many people with an HK 45 are "scared." And he is trying to enact additional gun legislation which is absolutely ludicrous. Everyone knows criminals don't care about gun laws, in addition everyone should know that a criminal's number 1 fear is that whoever they're attacking has a gun and knows how to use it.

In my opinion, these pistols are rivaled only by the 1911 in terms of reliability and quality. And I think they are right on par with regards to accuracy. When I was looking for another non-1911 .45 to use for competition, I took a look at the USP. I was looking at the Mark 23 or the Expert. I went with the expert simply because I didn't need the threaded barrel and I never had one FTF or FTE. Thousands of rounds through it and still going.

The USP's are used by a couple of special forces groups around the world. I know that HK had a contract with the Special Operations COMMand to make a few pistols for their duty carry sidearm and the HK's that were submitted went through riggerous and extreme testing. the HK's had to meet a certain standard set by the U.S. military, i.e. temperature tests, saline mist, sea salt, extreme heat, and muddy sludge tests just to name a few. they passed with flying colors.

I would! At 50 feet I can put them in your ear with the 45 and at 100 feet in your heart all day long. This is one of the most accurate weapons I have fired and I tell you I have fired many pistols in my life. The only issue with H&K is they are flipping expensive! When your life depends on it go for the best - H&K!
