This happened in Mexico with Calderon, thousands went on the street, nobody cared, or neither US sent fox news to talk about it, why?, Because Mexico has to become part of the US, or anexxation for short.
Chavez ought to ban AlJazeera, theyre Muslim terrorist supporters.Im in England and i like the fact Chavez wants whats best for HIS country, not just go along with USA
America is trying to destabilise Venezuela. You must understand history and what America has been doing. Hugo Chavez is 100% for Venezuela. Don't give up on Venezuela and make the mistake of becoming a slave to America.

chávez's approach is counter-productive. his strategy of blaming "the imperialists" for everything will not work forever, as the consequences of his disastrous macroeconomic policies are starting to affect citizens.
the contrast to president's lula's conciliatory approach is striking. the numbers speak for themselves: just look how the two countries are faring in the global credit crunch crisis and it becomes clear which approach works and which one does not.
so your point is because the imperialists punish you for going against their imperialist agenda it means you should sit back and take it without resistance?
no, my point is that chávez anti-imperialistic rhetoric is devoid of substance, because, in terms of macroeconomic policies, his government is a total failure. and that is due to his own policy choices and not because some foreign, distant entity imposed it upon him.
the "imperialist" scarecrow is a convenient tool he uses every time he faces problems at home - problems which, more often than not, are consequences of his own policy choices, after over a decade in power.
my point is that chávez's fierce anti-yankee rhetoric is just a tool he uses everytime he faces problems which are more often than not result of his own ill-conceived macroeconomic policies, after over 10 years in power.
in contrast to brazil's president lula, who has carried out sound economic policies that have benefited greatly all brazilians, and has also carried out an autonomous foreign policy (he gets along well with the US, Venezuela, Iran and Israel)...
It depends how you judge what is successful economic policy. Benefiting "all" people usually doesn't mean populist measures that assist the middle and lower classes the most (even though they're the majority), it means giving the rich tax breaks and special privlidges.
Chavez has always been anti-US, that is how he's gotten re-elected and why US & Venez' elite tried to oust him. If his policies were harmful to the poor then it would be them trying to get rid of him & not re-electing him always
It is easy to see who are US enemies by watching US news. Chavez is always called radical dictator, even though he's elected, and every move he makes against his politicial enemies are portrayed as systematic instability caused by his radical views or "fierce rhetoric".
And this "analysis" has nothind to do with economics, just simply that Chavez, Castro, etc, are okay to attack because they don't follow US policy. It has more to do with that than with their real internal economic situation.
@justjeshb: you're basically right, but you're 'preaching' to the converted. Post your comments on 'news'-clips from Fox, Michael Savage cum suis, but be prepared for some serious verbal abuse.
@justjeshb: is there any use in posting any comment on YT? As soon as you're on page 2, your post is near to irrelevant, since it's probably not going to be read anymore. If I'm honest, I do it, because I like to do it, not because I believe it's going to change the world for the better, unfortunately. What a waste of time, then, ah!
If 30million people throw away a plastic bottle instead of recycling it, it has some effect, even though each person alone thinks their impact is nothing. :-) This is part of the public sphere too, cannot always let tabloid/shock journalism and decontextualised stereotypes be the only voices out there
justjeshb: I'm afraid this is one hell of a boring discussion, since we agree. Can't you say something obnoxious like 'we Americans bring peace, liberty and democracy to the world and they only hate us for it'. Or... uhm... "I love Bush" (you know this guy, he was VP to The Big Dick Cheney).
@oceanbound222 You are fucking idiot. I'm Venezuelan, and he screws over the middle class of the nation, which is also a big chunk. Fuck Chavez, and all he stands for, I AM VENEZUELAN.

Kudos to Al Jazeera for their balanced reporting: for covering both the anti- as well as the pro-Chavez rallies.
On a personal note, if I were in Venezuela, I would have attended the pro-Chavez rally. Long live Hugo Chavez!

True.... Just like the US use the "terrorist" tool everytime they feel like stealing natural resources from other countries..
