I've only just today found out about the split, I felt like I'd been kicked in the chest, but after reading their farewell messages and listening to a couple of interviews I'm over the moon for them.

REM came, rocked out, then bowed out. We really cannot ask for more.

Thank you so much REM, you've influenced my life and millions of others, I wish you each peace in your respective futures.

This is exactly why i always loved REM because of what Mike and Michael said about not exploding their fame with the name of the band to make money... that is not why they started REM in the first place... the love of making music is what ALWAYS kept them together for all these years. Even Thom Yorke (Radiohead) once said that REM was the band he would've wanted to be part of besides his of course.

Politically we disagree (only in the fact that I think we need to shake things up more often, and elect a different party every 4 years, if things are not changing properly), but these guys are about as compassionate as you can get.

I love Mike he is hot his new glasses are nicer then those weird red ones he used to have before these ones and I love his new hair style it looks so much better than his old style of his long blond curly hair and why are his teeth have a blueish/ black tinge I am a ware that they are crooked
