@3333alex Try it yourself when you're singing; you'll be able to hear yourself better-"inside your head". mariah does it mostly when she goes in to whistle-it's very difficult to correct when you hit your whistle at the wrong pitch because, other sounds on stage are much louder. putting your finger over 1 ear helps to hit the note "just" right. or, abandon it altogether when you hear yourself compeletely missing it. :P

You know what's my guess as to why Mariah's voice had such a comeback? Her mother was in-studio with her, and heard her singing and was probably like, "Dear, add some more air-power". Guess it's pretty awesome to have an opera-singer as a mother.

if you listen very closely you get some parts are lipsync but that's ok.. I checked some early performances from 2005 her voice in live shows changed a lot and we all know.. btw I love her, her music and her voice
@stardusth2o it is clear she isnt miming. when she IS miming she DOESNT do the ticking with her hand and doesnt make as many facial expressions. When she IS lip synching her facial expressions are soft and she doesnt force her face. it's so obvious. come on.
I found it funny that at the end you can hear the whistle being played before she sings it live - I guess they thought she was going to try and save her voice a little but she went for it and it was wonderful. Oh Mariah, you make my world go round (lol). Can't wait for the next album.
This is an amazing performance. I keep watching it back and it's not even Christmas anymore. I think, like most of Mariah's performances, a few of the higher belted parts were lipped, but most of it was live and sounded fabulous. You've got to remember that she's only human and her voice won't be silky smooth everyday (especially after singing so many other songs!).

@jstvens na man it was the dubbed cleaned up version and it was difficult for engineers to do due to the acoustics of the orpheum and the audience roaring. search for the undubbed version and hear the note as it was sung..it was better before it was filtered.

It was lip synced. I worked in the audio room that day and we had a edited/pre recorded cd that we used. It only had her singing. The backup singers and the band were live...she wasn't.

@jstvens na man it was the dubbed cleaned up version and it was difficult for engineers to do due to the acoustics of the orpheum and the audience roaring. search for the undubbed version and hear the note as it was sung..it was better before it was filtered.

To anyone else that claims its lipped..learn about line feeds and broadcast quality, do your homework. Search Mariah Carey-O Come All Ye Faithful (UNDUBBED) and hear this exactly as it was performed LIVE. The line feed is upped and audience interference is lowered for a cleaner sound for television and for acoustic purposes. Seriously this lip sync argument is stupid. Do your homework people. Best vocalist ever. Respect.

It was lip synced. I worked in the audio room that day and we had a edited/pre recorded cd that we used. It only had her singing. The backup singers and the band were live...she wasn't.

And of course when you use common sense it would seem that she rests more than before, and also because she has to take care of her and her babies.
