FYI: This method it only works if you have a "Plus" account. I figure out how get and send messagea from Yahoo Mail using Mac Mail. However, I keep getting the "caution symbol" that says Alert. How can I get rid of that?

Dude, you need to tell people this only applies to Yahoo Plus accounts. So much for research....

Hey,

I upgraded to the Yahoo Plus account which cost $19.99 per year and ten it worked fine. ALSO, you need to make sure that you select .com not .co.uk in the server parts. Then it works.

Also with the plus account you do not need the macfreeops.

Note on his Incoming mail server, it says "plus.pop...." which means he subscribes to the non-free version of Yahoo! Mail. So if you don't pay for your Yahoo Mail, then this won't work. Also, I'm pretty sure you don't even need MacFreePOPs if you have a Plus account. Yahoo just wants to charge for the service of using offline mail clients.

@theolivetree95 Downloading the Yahoo Application is an option,but I believe it is a setting that you would have to change in your Yahoo account, and once you have done this , this method should work.

Mine tells me that the server "plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk"is not working.

Do I need to upgrade to Yahoo Plus and pay for the email account? I see on the apple website it has a small 1 next to the word Yahoo! Mail...

@flipster9795 well to start, this video works only for the Incoming Mail Server POP3, not the outgoing. for the outgoing do the following: after you did everything on the video. go on the internet to Yahoo! Mail, and on the corner on the page click on 'options', then 'more options'. on the new page it takes you, go to 'accounts' then 'add or edit an account'. on this other new page, click on 'account information', and after you've confirmed your password... (first part)

@flipster9795 .... (second part)... and after you've confirmed your password, it will take you to all your account information. when you scroll down, click on 'set language, site, and time zone' (which will be under 'account settings'), and there change it to Yahoo! Asia.

(third part)... after all this, go back to the 'more options' (one of the first things you clicked on), and there now you will be able to active your POP3. click around in the POP area and remember the port number under Outgoing Mail Server SMTP. then go back your preferences on Mail on your mac, and type them in. remember, you only need to change your Outgoing Mail Server because the program MacFreePOPs 2.6 does not change that, it only changes the Incoming Mail Server.

@flipster9795 try this: MacFreePOPs 2.6 should give you some numbers listed in red before you turn it on. those numbers are Incoming Mail Server and the Port. after you turn on MacFreePOPs 2.6, go to your Mail preferences on your mac, under 'account', there is account information. there, type in the numbers from MacFreePOP, then click on 'advanced' and type in the same port number MacFreePop gave you... (first part)...

@flipster9795 (second part)... now we have to edit Outcoming Mail. click on and scroll down where it says 'edit server list'. on new screen opened, make sure the 'server name' it is "smtp (dot) mail (dot) yahoo (dot) com (for some reason it wouldn't let me type in the dots on this page). now click on 'advanced' (remember, MacFreePOP will not work here). click on 'custom port', and try 465 or 587, (587 worked for me), then your authentication needs to be correct.

@flipster9795 (third part)... lastly, make sure for other Incoming Mail Server and Outcoming Mail Server, that the box Secure Sockets Layers (SNL). IT WILL NOT WORK IF SNL IS CHECKED. also, make sure that for the Incoming Mail (when you first make the e-mail account), that it is in pop (dot) mail (dot) yahoo (dot) com (meaning that it does not have the plus in front of it) . hopefully this will work.

lol its kl I found an easier way to get ur yahoo mail after hours of messin about I found that u can go onto yahoo sign in and change the settings so that it works with POP3 server thingies and all other accounts too people were saying stuff bout paying for it but u dont have to XD thanx anyways great video :) xoxx
