Alice in Chains is heavy metal, grunge, and alternative . . . Nirvana is grunge, alternative, with a punk influence that alice in chains didn't really get into. Everyone in grunge especially from Seattle owes a thanks to Kurt Cobain, he brought national attention to grunge. That said, I think AIC is the best band from at least the past 31 years. ONly the great classic rock bands (Led Zep, the Who, , Jimi-also-from-Seattle Hendrix, and a few others) could be considered better if you ranked them
