I'm in a lvl 70 BC raid guild. We have rules in place to make sure we progress as a guild the way bliz intended it in BC (or at least as close as we can considering the nerfs etc) including only using BC gems and enchants and taking 30% less players to raids to compensate for the nerf. It was the only guild I could find that actively raided BC content but I would put that down to the fact that the GM is a little more aggressive with advertising.

If you want a challenge with ICC, just 5 man it without a real tank. My guild had a hunter pet tank it, and Marrowgar was quite a challenge. Most of the boss abilities are trivial at 85, however lacking half of a raid team makes other things more challenging to compensate.

well 2 things that EVE does is that they sell play time for ISK(eve currency) they also throw bids on new blueprints (recipes basically just harder to get) and of course you get really expensive ships with really expensive gear which if you die you loose so that's a good way to sinc money. But I'm pretty sure people wouldn't be very happy if they lost their epics if they die :p

What would be nice would be to have a different level raid where they take the old raids and just ramp up all the levels to whatever the current is and this would change with each expansion as the level cap increases. It would actually put some challenge into the older raids for those who want to raid, but also don't want to see the same content over and over.

Great thing on journal is you can read a boss when you are at the boss, and still use DBM for the announces, so I dont see why it is that bad? You can easily understand a boss by reading it

There would be a problem with optimal leveling via raiding: let's take TK: The Eye, for instance (one of my favorite raids); it's level 70 currently. The problem is that leveling from 70 to 71 currently takes less than an hour; if raiding were the optimal path, then by raiding you should go from 70 to 71 in less than half an hour. A single TK raid would probably take 3-4 hours, during which people would probably go up 5 levels and trivialize the content ..

if you want to do wrath raids, you have to either do mount or title runs, algalon 10-25, obsidian sanctum 10/20 + 3 drakes or the ulduar/icc achievements

Make them to this level appropriate 5 mans, break them up a bit to fix the length

Actually, there is a good place to engage in older raids. RP servers. If your leveling a new toon and you want to get gear, start a toon on and RP sever. They tend to run alot of the old content just for gear that looks kool, and they leave to good, less cooling looking gear for you!
