I used to work that particular train and can attest to the clientele whose cleanliness is questionable at best. It's impossible to think that anyone can keep it clean with 60 people per coach running in and out non-stop.
Ha, you bet. I ride the Silver Service every few months. The people that ride it seem to have no sense of cleanliness or respect and many of them get drunk at night and then ramble on and on for the rest of the night. Now go on Amtrak's Northeast Regional and it's totally different. Everything is clean and normal. If you ever were to take the Silver Service, get a room. Coach stinks. Literally.

Hmm, at least you caught a clean one. I don't know about the Palmetto, but the ones on the Silver Service can be absolutly disgusting.
