this was my fist time bringing a video camera as i was taking still photos and just at times turning the video camera on. It jumps as when the jeep moves it gets too bumpy. So what you see here are short clips of the more steady footage.
The cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) is an atypical member of the cat family (Felidae) that is unique in its speed, while lacking climbing abilities. As such, it is placed in its own genus, Acinonyx. It is the fastest land animal, reaching speeds between 112 and 120 km/h (70 and 75 mph)[3] in short bursts covering distances up to 460 m (1,500 ft), and has the ability to accelerate from 0 to 110 km/h (68 mph) in three seconds, greater than most supercars.[4]

you know each time a cheetah goes for that speed its a risk of its life... if it don't get the kill the cheetah will most likely die because it use up a lot of energy in that sprint.
no not intierly true yes it has used up most off itz energy but it doesnt usualy die because of it it usualy dies a natural deat, poached death, or death by a nother big cat.
Theone, you really think that any animal on earth is capable of actually using all their energy up in one go? the body, of any animal, is built to survive, it stores fat to be used for energy when there is none available from food sources, even then it's a very slow process.
thats was what my science teacher told me he was a biologist be for becoming a teacher but if it was wrong i would love to learn more about it o.o -time to do some more research- xD
wel 1. of all the cheetah Dosent catch its prey always. It does only about 50% of the times. Theats the highest sucsess ratio of all the cats in africa
In general cats cannot use excess carbohydrates or fats in place of protein to supply their calories and energy needs and they cannot store excess protein so they must eat what they need, often daily. In the case of the cheetah Theone is correct but for different reasons. The cheetah risk death very often due to body temperature and thus overheating. If they kept running they'd overheat and die, beyond 400 or 500 yards is critical. Takes them about 30 minutes to completely settle down afterwards
There kill ratio is 50% for the people who dont believe it. Nothing really out runs them when they chase it and the farthest they run from is about 90 feet a cheetah does 30 feet in 1/4 a second "1 quarter second" so it takes 3/4 of 1 second to get there. They can hold top speed for upto 90 seconds if needed. They let there food get taken also because it takes all of 90 seconds to get more and the cooldown is only 1hr. They eat like kings compared to most animals of the african wild.
Does anyone have any footage of a Gazelle or Impala escaping a cheetah? All I can find on Youtube are kills made. I want to see the Gazelle or Impala escape, because I know that occurs more often than not, seeing as the cheetah only makes 50% of it's kill attempts.
That's true. However, the majority of the Cheetah's diet is not solely Tommy Gazelles. Tommies, I estimate, escape more often than not because they have more stamina and can maneuver better than a cheetah. So, I would say--in regards to Tommies--the Cheetah's success rate is probably only 30%. They mostly go after the young ones because the adults are strong and fleet.
I missed it, where was the part where it killed the impala? I mean one second the Cheetah was looking at the Impala, and the next frame it was eating the Impala. Now I know the Cheetah is fast, but not THAT fast.
The cheetah is lucky because its world's fastest animal so it cloud hunt whatever it wants :D

@DebaCat That is 99% true.. the cheetah could never catch Chuck Norris.
briczar22 1 year ago 3
@briczar22 unless chuck alows the cheetah to do so. or if the cheetah really wants him dead. then too.

What is the point of running these frightened animals around in the street? Wouldn't they rather be left to graze is a green field?

50% is a bit high. i think it's more along the 10-20% success rate
