In the absence of absolute concrete evidence of conspiracy (left-wing blogs and "news" sites don't count - I weigh them, but they have an agenda as well), I will say that from a standpoint of preserving American dominance, controlling the fields would be a smart move. I doubt 9/11 was engineered, but I think was seized as an opportunity for sure.

I have no doubt that there is a virtually limitless supply scattered throughout the earth - the issue is the amount of expenditure required to access it, and eventually, any new fields will begin to taper off amid increasing demand. True, drilling those restricted areas would help somewhat though, at least in the meanwhile.

Your basic assumption is wrong. The rate at which you can extract oil is limited by geology and economy. It's a long drawn-out affair that takes decades; and there's not enough oil there for the peak extraction rate to be anywhere near close to meeting your demands.

The wild ass guessing about the date is caused by the fact that understandably predictions about new discoveries vary and info about oil reserves are highly classified so no one knows if the info given is accurate or inflated.

This was a good informational video which I have taken a lot from, however unless the makers had only one chance to record the voice over, I would recommend re-recording. The voice over guy has a calm voice which emphasises points effectively, but his constant mistakes are very noticeable and threw off the 'flow' of the information. He expected a peak just before the turn of century, and he was probably off the mark because of "man-made" interference with the oil production (and then demand) following the Arab oil embargo.
