Question: Formula (published by a train fan on YouTube) SPEED = Length of Train / Time taken to cross a pole/point.

I applied SPEED (in this Video) = 12 (incl. Engine) / 8.5 secs to cross the point of reference TIMES 100 = 141 kmph. Did I understand that right? Also, that being said, the speed in reality was not 150 kmph. Correct? Please correct me if I am wrong.

There is small error in this formula. The lenght of train is incorrect.

1 WAP-5 Loco = 18.16 mts

11 LHB coaches = 11 x 24.7 = 271.1

Time taken = 7.2 sec

Speed in m/s = 40.16 m/s

speed in Km/h = 144.58 Km/h

You are not supposed to call the driver a stupid fellow. It was the couple's mistake. Either they should have stopped for the train to pass or thery could have taken the FOB. In India, train never slow down on small station and level crossings!!!
