  • I was just there this last summer and i didn't know it. I was on the other side of the cemetery; I stopped to look at Miniature horses playing at a miniature horse farm. If i turned around i could have seen the cemetery ....and If i knew i would have paid respects to her grave.

  • @kennethj1956 Aw! So close!

  • I find it just so sad yet beautiful that there was this girl who was a star that just set everyone on fire. Everyone wanted to know her.

But when she died, everybody moved on. She went from this crazy fast scene, only to be buried in a cemetery in a small town. With a simple grave. And tucked away peacefully. Kind of seems wrong. But right.

I wonder if anybody of her family visits her? Im gonna go before i die. Edie is like a spirtual figure to me. When i found out about her i was just so spo

  • @Brendansanatomy You should go! Ballard, and Oak Hill Cemetery in particular, are wonderfully peaceful. As much as I think Edie liked being in the spotlight, I think she probably would be happy to be among the ranches and animals that she grew up with. She's amazing, and she helped me through some crazy periods in my own life. I hope you get to visit her soon!

  • yea so i guess her and her mom werent barried with the other sedgwicks in massachusettes. buts thats not a surprise because i think a lot of them dissowned her by the 70's. plus thats where her dad was berried,,,eech

  • I ♥ Edie sedgwick

She was and remains an icon girl for my

tanks for the video..I'd like to visit her grave but I live in mexico

  • Wow! Thank you for posting! If I ever get back to California, I will try to make it to Ballard just to pay my respects to Edie. Would you believe that my mom and dad were going to name me Edie when I was born? Not after Edie, but my dad, Eddie. Instead, they named me Lynne. What a drag. I would love to share the name of this beautful person. Thanks again!

  • @passionateaboutmusic You're welcome! Hey, don't forget, you can always change your name through the courts! I did. I'm now officially Princess Kim. You could be Edie and share that great name!

  • @passionateaboutmusic lmfao, my parents named me Edie :P

  • Thank you for posting this! Did you leave the flowers and picture by her grave? I wish I could visit but sadly I live England. xx

  • @thejessholmes You're welcome! Yes, I did leave the flowers and picture there. Hmm, well, I left hot pink roses, anyway. Someone had already left some longer-lasting (fake) flowers there, too. I can't remember which ones are in the video. But I'm glad I could let you see Edie's final resting place!

  • how come she wasn't buried in the 'sedgwick pie?' . Thanks for posting! interesting to see.

  • You're welcome! I believe that Edie was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in Ballard because she and her siblings grew up there. While the Sedgwicks have a right to be buried in "The Pie," Edie's immediate family remained in California and didn't have strong ties to the East Coast after Edie returned from New York City.

  • thanks for posting!!! interesting to see.

  • wow, thankyou for this! Where exactly is this? This is interesting.

  • This is in Ballard, California, near Santa Barbara. The nearest town is Solvang. Edie's cemetery is tucked away on Baseline Avenue.

  • might go there one day :P When I actually go to america... doubt it.

  • her father (edie's) was an asshole

  • @missbabydoll187 How true !!!

  • I want to visit her grave. Don't know why, but I have a major urge to..I love Edie. R.I.P. doll<3

  • You should visit her. It's a beautiful place.

  • I def will once I go to California!

  • I just went there to visit her grave. The graveyard was pretty

  • my house is literally down the street from Oak Hil Cemetery and I didn't even know that she was buried there

  • Lucky! It's such a nice cemetery. I was telling my friend that if I lived in that area, I would literally go there every day.

  • Hi Kimberly, Thank you for your posting. I too have the Edie:Girl on fire book & I think it's wonderful. My favorite pictures of her are with the dark hair, Sculpting her horse, in the photobooth, etc. She is so beautiful and I really love her. But that's beside the point. I need to ask you and anyone else out there, without sounding like a serious nutcase. Has anyone ever felt Edie's presence? Her spirit? And can't stop thinking of her? I'm serious. If so, please write back & I'll tell you more

  • Hi! Well, I don't know if I've felt her "presence," exactly. I can tell you that I honestly do think about her every single day, and that I have a WWED? (What Would Edie Do?) attitude sometimes when I need to approach a situation.

The cemetery feels entirely different and more peaceful than any other I've been to; I attribute that to Edie.

If you would like, please send me a message and we can discuss this further! Thanks!

  • oh shit i didnt know alice deforest died in 1988

    wow

one day ill go to america just to visit her grave and go to pittsburgh to see warhols museum

    thts my dream man

  • Where do you live? The cemetery where Edie is has to be the most peaceful, lovely cemetery I've ever seen. I have yet to see the Warhol Museum, although a friend tells me it's awesome. When you go to Ballard, where the cemetery is, I think you'll be really surprised at how small the town is. There is NOTHING out there.

  • i live in london, England loll

really wow! i mean ive seen it in the book and stuff, and i read it was well like you said peaceful but i really wanna go there man

there was a warhol exhibition in London a few weeks back and i saw a few of edie's movies and pictures but its not the same till i go to the pittsburgh one right

  • Oh, I heard about the traveling Warhol exhibition! You're so lucky that you were able to see it! I haven't been to the Pittsburgh museum, but one of my friends who used to live in Pittsburgh says it's great. Pretty much everyone likes the cloud room the best. I'm really not sure how much Edie stuff there is, but as an art museum, it's pretty fantastic, I hear.

  • oh man yeah the silver cloud it was brilliant man

i went in there pretty high off my face so it was really trippy but i loved it.

I wish there was an actual Edie gallery!

what do you think of factory girl btw?

  • I loved Factory Girl, but I find it harder and harder to watch. I find it hard to watch because there are some scenes where people just treated Edie like crap, like the scenes where her friends turned on her, and that's hard for me to see. I think Sienna Miller did a great job. What did you think of Factory Girl?

  • yeah same!

its also really biased i mean have you read her book Edie by jean stein?

It reaaaaaaally shows that Edie was a bitch to andy, and i dont think its fair for the movie to really blame edies downfall on Andy so much you know

yeah sienna was brilliant but shes nothing like edie tho, i cant believe how sienna's voice sounded soooo much like edie's its really weird!

  • I have the Edie book by Jean Stein, and also the Edie: Factory Girl book by David Dalton and Nat Finkelstein (I don't recommend the Factory Girl book; they make her out to be this horribly flawed person). I think the Factory Girl movie is unfair, but I also think that the Factory crowd treated Edie pretty badly.

  • ahh really?

im saving up for the girl on fire book i cant find it anywhere in london :/

    yeah deffo

and the whole ingrid superstar thing is such a joke. Shes nothing like Edie!

  • I have Girl on fire. and i actually love that book.

    haha

had to put that out there.

  • What do you like about it? I kept my copy because it was a gift, but it puts such a negative slant on Edie that I find unnecessary.

  • I just love all the photos and quotes. I dont think it gives edie as much of a negative slant like otehr books and things do.

I find it really interesting. What people thought of her and what she was like.

  • Interesting! Have you also read the Edie: American Girl, by Jean Stein? That's the book I found to be the most informative and liked the best.

  • Nah i cant get a hold of it anywhere! Im doing a project on edie at school now. So Hoping that becuase im so interested in her will have a better mark ooutcome. hahah

  • Thank You

  • You're welcome! Thank you for viewing the video.

  • I agree wholeheartedly with jazzbaby - Finally someone videotaped where Edie is resting. I only see one crappy photograph of her marker everywhere I researched. Thank you Kim for doing this for us. Now I know where to look when I visit Ballard later this year. And thank you for those wonderful pictures in your website too. Thank You, Kim!!! To be continued...

  • You're welcome! Have fun in Ballard! The cemetery has the best feeling out of any cemetery I've ever visited; it's very warm and peaceful. I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures, too!

  • I was under the impression that Edie was buried by herself, or at best, beside her husband. I heard she was left out of the "Sedgwick Pie". Nice to see her mother's alongside her.

  • Yeah, I didn't know that her mother was with her, either. Her father and two deceased brothers had their ashes scattered on their ranch in or near Santa Barbara. Her husband is still alive and living in Santa Barbara. I don't think anyone in her immediate family is in the Sedgwick Pie.

  • wow, how surreal!

  • Thanks for checking out the video!

  • Thank you for posting this! Finally someone has done this. I was there ten years ago and it looks like time has continued to stand still here.

  • It took my friend and I FOREVER to find her, because we went on a Saturday when the office was closed, so no one could help us, that is, until a local resident walking her dog stopped and helped us, right before sundown.

  • Finally!!! Someone video taped this. I was there ten years ago and it looks like time stands still there. I recall a wonderful breeze flowing through there!! xoxox Thank You!!!!

  • Fantastic !! You now made her grave so very easy to find !

  • And you were there with me to help me find it!
