  • Okay...for you animal rights people. What are YOU personally doing to make sure that nothing like the situation in Columbus, Ohio with wild animals deliberately relased never happen again? What are YOU personally doing to make sure that those who purposely make dogs fight get state sentances worthy of murderers? What are YOU doing to educate the public on facts, and not emotion? Every video of this time, it never fails. I am for animal rights and welfare...however, I am not militant.

  • AWWWSS I got to see Krystal live at Universal Studios in the Animals Show :D

  • Oh, so adorable. And so smart, too.

  • Why are there so many dislikes???

  • I like it because it has a monkey in it.

  • I like Crystal. She's a funny monkey!

  • I think it's sad when non-domesticated animals are kept as pets, but I'm pretty sure Crystal enjoys all the mental stimulation of training for movies. It all depends on the method with which the animals are taught.

  • Haven't you hipsters seen Planet of the Apes? This is a good thing!

  • They should have said Crystal does it with a hangover.

  • @Domali2116 /snort...nice

  • First of all, I don't like PETA. Secondly, and for those who asked, this will get disliked by any human who understands that taking away another animals right to a normal life (especially highly intelligent and social animals like monkeys) solely for human amusement, is abhorrent. You an make all the excuses you want to feel better about this, but science is showing many behavior issues and mental illnesses that occur with monkeys and non-human apes when they are kept as "pets".

  • GAWD HOW ADORABLE WORK THEM PEARLS GURL

  • I think its funny now i'm going go sit down and eat my steak and then im going to butcher a chicken, that's one of my favorite past times!

  • I dont get why its been disliked

  • peta should firebomb their own building those twisted fucking morons

  • PETA Y U NO TROLL OTHER PLACES BESIDES YOUTUBE

  • @TheTastyboss - Exactly what does PETA have to do with anything here?

  • Did anyone else realize the guy announcer said " who are you wearing" O.o

  • If I ever own a company I'm gonna have a bear, monkey, lion, elephant, and a whale in my commercial and give a big middle finger to PETA at the end of it

  • @bshaw7273 Oh, you just reminded me of the Dodge commercial where they gave peta the big FU by making the monkey invisible.

  • Oh look PETA has invaded the internet...

  • @TheOmegamega1 They already have, a LONG time ago...

  • @TheOmegamega1 Not entirely sure why people think that anybody who holds any concern about any animal being mistreated is the all-encompassing PETA? Ever heard of just being compassionate?

  • @allmonkeysarewild I believe animals should be treated correctly and should be cared for as my two dogs would be happy to tell you if they could talk. I do no believe though that animals should be in as high regard as humans if they do not have the same brain power/sophistication as us. I would say though, if you could convince me that their is an animal species that has this abilities, then I will be happy to join you on your ideas. Until then I will continue with my ideals, thank you.

  • @TheOmegamega1 Great - then hopefully you can understand the concern about the way this monkey's being used. You care about your dogs, and surely would react if you saw then treated in a way that you knew was distressing. This doesn't mean that you think they're as sophisticated or intelligent as you are. By the same token, whether intelligent or not (and capuchins are in fact probably the most "intelligent" of monkeys, if you can really measure such things), this monkey deserves better.

  • @allmonkeysarewild ... and you don't have to be a fanatic to see this! If you know anything about monkey behavior (the people who make their living out of training monkeys to "act" must be very thankful that not many people do!), then you know that this is harmful. Crystal's clearly a really screwed up monkey and it's not surprising - biologists know that monkeys are social animals and when they are denied the chance to be part of a social group, and forced to act unnaturally, they go mad!

  • @allmonkeysarewild OK great we're making progress into understanding each other. Ok could you elaborate on how the monkey is being used? The way I see it is that if they are being properly fed, properly taken care of, then it's ok. BUT. If there there is some behind the scenes mistreatment I would surely change my mind. Also sorry for such a delayed response.

  • @TheOmegamega1 There's lots to say, but will try to make it short! For one - in order to be used as "actors", monkeys like Crystal are taken away from their mothers as infants. This is acutely distressing, but it is also known to have a negative effect on brain development. Monkeys who have gone through this can become in effect "brain damaged", and develop psychological problems that last for their entire lives (40-50 years for capuchins like Crystal!).

  • @TheOmegamega1 ...(continued)... they are generally hand-reared by people and don't have any contact with other monkeys - otherwise they'd be much more difficult to handle (monkey social groups are very close-knit and the group wouldn't let the handler just come and pop the mnkey out for training or performing!). But think of this - think of what happens to humans who grow up with no human contact - they don't thrive! They are really damaged psychologically!

  • @TheOmegamega1 ...(continued)... And so very often they develop lots of abnormal behaviors, like rocking back and forth, pacing, chewing off their tails, overfocusing on people, extreme aggression or fear... when they've "acted" for a while and they reach adolescence, their monkey instincts kick in, and they don't know what to do with them. It's confusing! Monkeys at this age start to become quite dangerous - even though small they are fast and strong - and have huge canines!

  • @TheOmegamega1 ..(more!)... at this point their handlers may choose to remove their canines or drug the monkey so that it is easier to deal with (would you do this to a dog?), or perhaps just stick the monkey in a small boring cage for the remaining 30 or 40 years of its life. This is just how this industry works. Crystal herself? Look at this: "Crystal the capuchin monkey at 'The Hangover 2" premiere" She is terrified! Those little twittering noises she is making? They are NOT happy!

  • @TheOmegamega1 ...(!!).. and the backflips she is doing? Really typical of the types of repetitive, crazy behaviors that psychologically damaged monkeys tend to do. She's a wild animal, perfectly adapted to live in the rainforests of South America, in a complex social group - and she's in a city in the midst of shouting crowd of people, wearing a pink dress, and terrified. I can't imagine that many people would subject their domestic cat, dog, rabbit to such an ordeal. Why a monkey?

  • @TheOmegamega1 ..(and finally)... it;s just that not many people tend to know much about monkey body language and behavior so they don't necessarily pick up on how very screwed up these monkeys always are. It looks like she's smiling and singing - great! The people who train them make a lot of money off of this fact - but it's terror, and this industry really ruins lives! There's no need for it whatsoever and compassionate people (which is hopefully most people) shouldn't accept it. .Thanks!

  • @allmonkeysarewild Brilliant, your multiple comments show how passionate you are for these animals and, you know what, I'm starting to believe what you say. I had always believed they were trained similarly to dogs who are rewarded for tricks and such like I've seen first hand ( I met a person who taught dogs to act for plays). Thanks for the enlightenment, props to ya'.

  • @TheOmegamega1 Thanks to you for keeping an open mind! :)

  • @allmonkeysarewild who gives a fuck..its a monkey..im rockin some monkey slippers while eatin a monkey steak right now..BOOM!

  • CALM DOWN EVERYONE ITS JUST A MONKEY. Yall wouldnt say anything if it was a tiger or a dog. Just SHUT UP.

  • @popgangsta1 What do you really mean by saying "it's just a monkey"? Do you think that monkeys don't have feelings and are not aware of their surroundings? If you'd take the time to think about about why things like this upset people so much you would most likely agree, unless you really honestly think that humans are the only beings capable of suffering. But most people are smarter than that.

  • Come on people...this is a commercial i'm pretty sure this isnt torturing her...i mean humans in a commercial isnt torture...besides this is used for a positive purpose...its not like anything bad is happening to her....jeez....we use pets for entertainment right? dog and cats were originally wild but that is justified right? so is this...holy crap...

  • @July2ish Again, the point is that monkeys are not domesticated animals like cats and dogs, they are wild, social animals and it is well known that they suffer when removed from their social groups. To be "actors", they're taken from their mothers as infants which causes lasting damage. There are loads of videos of this monkey available and in many of them she's making faces and noises that look and sound like cute smiles and giggles but are actually fear grimaces and frightened noises!

  • @bbsterrett ahaha :) that just made my day

  • shes so cuuuute!

  • Feel the love

  • god damn everyone calm down its funny

  • @MRspodify Not really, no. It's not funny. It's pathetic and cruel - not to mention tacky as hell.

  • Simply terrible, the poor thing. Who on earth thought it a good idea to dress up this little monkey to advertise a product? Even if this monkey was treated well, it perpetuates the 'performing animal industry' in which a lot of animals are abused and made to suffer. Horrendous.

  • this monkey is clearly happy, capuchins can be domesticated and trained, its not inhuman, its very similar to having a dog. thats not inhuman either...

  • @TheKentRDhudson How is it 'clearly happy'? What were the conditions like on set? What was the monkey fed? How could you possibly conclude from this video that the monkey is happy?

  • well i have seen a lot of documentaries about this monkey, and i genuinely think it seems happy, i have no doubts that he treats the her very well. im not concluding from the advert that the mokey is happy, as i know it has been trained to smile, but she loves her trainer alot, and if she was unhappy i dont think this would necessarily be the case. you cant say its inhumane for the sake of it. no one likes trolls. racism this... cruelty that... gets a bit monotonous after a while.

  • @TheKentRDhudson Glad to see that someone else feels the way I do!

  • @dumont156 - clearly YOU don't, but luckily there are also a lot of humane people, with brains, out there. unfortunately none of them seem to work for this company...

  • @allmonkeysarewild ummm being smart has nothing to do with intelligence and there probly 100x smarter than you

  • @dumont156 - of course, you are right. being smart has nothing to do with intelligence. you got it. really well said. now just get your spelling sorted, and you will be on your way!

  • Il est navrant encore à notre époque d'utiliser un animal, qui plus est un primate, pour vendre un produit. Ce film est honteux et triste.

  • C'mon youtube!!...this belongs in the archive along with the PG Tips Chimps!!!! Totally OUTDATED!!!

  • @dumont156 Wow... you're clearly a thoughtful and compassionate person...

  • @thesmallchicken and your a pussy that thinks that this is torture

  • @dumont156 Why do you think this is OK then? Or should I dress you up and make you do tricks for food?

  • @Guthrief87 you cant compare humans life to a animals

  • @dumont156 ...why can't you?

  • Comment removed

  • This is repulsive in so many ways... for one, it's just tacky! More than that, using this monkey "actor" is such a barbaric, outdated practice. There is so much information out there about the damage that this does to the monkeys who have been pulled from their mothers and social groups - they have no chance at leading normal lives as long as they are treated like clowns - people see this and think that they'd make really cute "pets" so it perpetuates yet another damaging industry. Shame!

  • DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What a rotten advert, stop using animals for promotional purposes, they look far better naturally than dressed up in ridiculous outfits. I thought we had put behind us using wild animals in adverts these days, they are so unpopular with the public.

  • disgusting!!!!!

  • Animals are not toys...so sad :(

  • Monkeys do not belong in clothes, and in ads!!! When will the human race stop abusing non-humans???

  • This is hideous and completely inappropriate!

  • Which stupid hollow headed idiot thought of doing this??? You might get these stupid ideas in someone elses head too.... NEVER use animals for commercial reasons, let alone a dressed monkey!! What age are you living in? What a buch of morans humans can be. I wish the Pistachios producers will get crackin themselves.

  • Seriously?? Can't believe you would make and advert like this these days.

  • They belong in the wild - not on a TV Screen - Thank you.

  • We should be protecting capuchins in the wild not turning them into clowns. I can't believe that Wonderful Pistachios think this is a good way to advertise their product. Don't they have any idea about animal welfare?

  • Wild animals should be left in the wild. It is not ethical to use animals for human entertainment. Please reconsider the way you advertise your products because you are most likely also damaging your sales volumes. Thank You.

  • Animals should not be used in advertising or entertainment, this only promotes a lack of respect for animals. This should be banned.

  • It is completely inappropriate to use monkeys in this way.

  • This is ridiculous. I hope this ad gets banned.

  • this is not the age to abuse animals in this way~you are a disgrace :(

  • I thought this was something from the 80's and 90's surely we are over using animals as adverts in such a way!

  • obviously, they're not. We domesticated dogs...why do we need to domesticate another animal that is happier in it's natural environment? Is the entertainment or the fact that we get to look at these cute, sociable creatures worth more than their psychological well-being? (a lot of capuchins who have been taken away from their mothers and environment display the same behaviours as damaged humans...rocking back and forth, crying, pulling their hair out etc.)

  • @nikkilaird If you saw a lion or another large animal being made to perform for entertainment, maybe you'd feel a little differently? I don't think anyone's suggesting that Crystal is not treated well, rather that it is wrong to take an animal out of their natural habitat, away from their mother's, and to make them live a life against their instincts. These people file down their teeth to make them less dangerous to humans, make them wear nappies and see them almost like cute human babies, which

  • @flumpflimp I know for a fact that this monkey lives in a wild life rescue with other primates so get your story straight. People that don't know the facts should not talk shit. Crystal does live with other monkeys. Further, I do not believe her teeth were ever filed down why would people that operate a rescue to save animals like this physically hurt them.

  • ...arguing on a topic such as this tend to do so by trying to belittle instead of make others understand. Much of this stems from influences in the media which often causes people to associate everyone in question with the same behavior. Obviously this injustice is shown in many other examples but, going about it the way that many people do does not provide any steps forward. Hopefully that can be changed and ultimately lead to the demise of unjust practices such as the abuse of animals.

  • @patdarock22 This animal is not abused and probably lives life better than you do.

  • Comments influenced by Rise of the Planet of the Apes?...Yup.

  • @patdarock22 - Not really, no. Comments based upon the well-known fact that primates used as "actors" suffer immensely from the moment they are taken off their mothers and away from their social groups as infants, through being forced to perform unnatural acts in terrifying environments in order to make ignorant peole chuckle, to being relegated to cages or sanctuaries or labs for the remainder of their 50+ years when their natural instincts kick in and they get too wild to handle...

  • .... unless they are drugged and their teeth removed to make them easy to deal with. Not much to do with "Planet of the Apes" at all because, admirably, they managed to create that whole film without making use of one live animal!

  • @allmonkeysarewild

Well despite what you may assume, I care as much about the just treatment of animals as anyone else. The fact that countless animals are taken from their mothers and natural environments is an obvious wrong as anyone should know. However, I'm not blanketing ignorance upon everyone that takes a view of the video nor am I declaring that everyone who doesn't immediately hate it is a bad person. I'm not saying you are doing this, I just find that a lot more of the people...

  • @patdarock22 of course you are right - not knowing about the issues that surround the use of primates as "actors" doesn't automatically make a person an idiot - though their not knowing is, literally, ignorance... i'm just asking that the people who object are given credit for knowing exactly why it's such an unacceptable practice! if the new planet of the apes film makes people feel that they need to defend primates from abuse then i am all for it!

  • Please direct polite but firm complaints about this exploitation to:

Dominic Engels, Vice President, Global Marketing / Paramount Farms / dengels @ paramountfarms . com -Remind him that primates are social animals that need to live with others of their own kind in order to thrive - that training monkeys to perform like this usually means they have been taken from their mothers as infants which is extremely damaging-that portraying monkeys in this way leads people to believe that they are pets!

  • Monkeys should be left in the wild with other monkeys, not made to perform for entertainment or advertising! This is the 21st century!

  • Comment removed

  • Are you guys kidding me? What decade do you think you're in. It is so inappropriate and inhumane to use animals for advertising or entertainment. Have you got no imagination? How about we dress you guys up in a monkey suit!

  • @nattysam4 Ok.

  • Terrible advert :( Monkeys aren't meant for entertaining humans :(

  • Monkeys should not be used for advertising or other entertainment purposes. They are highly intelligent and social creatures which need to live as naturally as possible. This monkey may not be able to be wild ever again, but should at least be kept in a naturalistic enclosure with other capuchins, and never forced to perform again.

  • Ape and monkeys are not ours to use for entertainment. This is degrading and unhealthy treatment of these intelligent creatures.

  • @nonoriginalusername Quit bitching and laugh at it.

  • @GrittyKittyCatLitter Well when you put it so eloquently, how could I not find this hilarious?

  • Capuchins are intelligent social creatures. Why must they be treated like this?: deprived of social interaction, forced to perform unnatural behaviour? Oh yeah, cos greedy advertisers and companies with no sense think it's amusing. SHAME ON YOU.

  • Sick. Poor Crystal needs to live with other capuchin monkeys. How can people be entertained by watching a socially deprived, intelligent, group-living wild animal wear dresses and do flips? Why do people support the sick bastards that tear them off of their mothers as infants so that they can be trained to "perform"?

  • @allmonkeysarewild You all should really pull your heads out of your butts. Why is it Sick Poor Crystal? Crystal is loved and has always been loved by her family. All you people who profess to love animals so much should really think about what you are saying. She is well cared for by people who love her...why don't you go help at your local shelter and save animal that are on death row. Crystal is well cared for by her family, not owners!

  • @nikkilaird1 - Crystal is a capuchin monkey who needs to live in a social group with other capuchin monkeys. Being a primatologist and having worked at animal shelters for many years (thanks for the suggestion) - I have, actually, thought quite a bit about what I am saying. It is a well-known fact that maternal deprivation and social isolation cause psychological abnormalities in monkeys and the people who "love" her should have taken this into account before turning her into a clown.

  • @allmonkeysarewild She does live with other capuchin monkeys in a wild life rescue. I disagree with you, and feel that crystal suffers no psychological abnormailities. I am glad to hear that you at least practice what you preach. It is sad that people waste so much time bitching about a well taken care of monkey instead of saving the millions of homeless animals in shelters. You should really investigate the care of an animal before accusing the owners of mistreating an animal.

  • @nikkilaird1 - No "rescue centre" that knows anything about primate psychology would allow one of the monkeys in its care to be used like this. And it isn't really a matter of opinion, Crystal clearly shows signs of acute distress and psychological abnormalities in a number of the videos available. She is NOT a well taken care of monkey - it's not too far off to say that she is, because of the way she is utilised, in fact abused (have you seen the clips of her at a New Jersey nightclub!?).

  • @nikkilaird1 What actually defines a "rescue center"? Anyone who wants to call themselves a rescue center can do so - it in fact doesn't mean much. There's a place in Florida (I think) that calls itself a "Sanctuary" and says it does "conservation" work but what it actually does is to breed unnatural lion-tiger hybrids and hires them out for people to touch and have themselves photographed with! I'd really like to know the name of the supposed rescue centre where Crystal is supposed to live.

  • @allmonkeysarewild The monkey is fine . It's happy . Chill out .

  • @LuckyStar12495 No, the monkey is not fine. Not at all. This is not what monkeys act like or do when they are "happy". Why should I not be concerned?

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!!

  • HAHAAAAAAAAA LMFAO!

  • Crystal is sooo awesome!! :D

  • Who the he'll is christal

  • @matmanig98

After googling, apparently Crystal is a monkey who plays a lot of monkeys in movies. (Night at the Museum and Hangover 2 for instance.)
