This looks absolutely awesome. As a CS student who just spent 4 months learning about 3D objects manipulation, perspective mapping & other stuffs, I can barely imagine the amount of work that was necessary to produce such tool.
Good work, and your demo animation is cool as well.
I am currently looking for a person who can partner up with me on YouTube to help me out with some animations.I am not that experienced but I am learning. I am looking for a person who has good drawing, animating, and editing skills. I currently have Toon Boom Studio 6 and I'm going to purchase a pen tablet soon. So if you have any experience and want to help. Please inbox me and we will talk. ;)
Ok this looks cool and all nice animation stuff....but are you sure the 3D works cause i just used the glasses that that i got from watching the green lantern an hour ago and they didnt seem to work...maybe it was because it was day light around? And i can see where that UK dude is coming from it is very expensive. I'm a teenager getting ready for college and i cant even afford studio, and by the way i already own that new anime studio. i dont like it but id rather deal with something affordable
@ToonBoomAnimation ok i see. those glasses didnt come from a dvd. they are the realD 3D glasses that you get when you go to the movie theaters. And I also have DVD glasses and those dont work with the video either.
I'm not a pro but I enjoy using the pro PE version and features. Unfortunately I'd never be able to do anything serious on it because I wouldn't be able to create a movie file. Therefore, I will have to look at Anime Studio Pro 8 that will be released in the UK soon. I have tried to make it work using toon boom. but the pricing structure makes it difficult. PS: I've not found any UK suppliers of Toon Boom. All student/education versions.
I have this issue with pricing so I'm considering Anime Studio Pro 8. Sorry Toon Boom - I've tried but you have not helped which is sad - why do software companies do this to small fish :(
@michaeljohnwilcox We actually offer flexible payment plans as well as attractive promotions on a regular basis that enable professional animators to get the real thing...just like the one we currently have...check it out.
@ToonBoomAnimation This is my point, no money - I'm not a professional and never will be because without the tools for the job, I'll have to find and use something else I can afford and justify paying. Flexible payments - not sure that would work for me being in the UK.
You guys should consider going the same route as Autodesk and offer a free educational version for students with academic proof. It's insanely annoying to use your "free" version and not having them be compatible with retail versions at school due to forced extension changing. Get with the program, guys, as expensive as your software is -- don't make us students who are already paying exorbitant tuition suffer any longer.
While I, and other students appreciate the availability of student pricing, ~$270 is still a lot of money for most students who are trying to budget and more importantly, using anywhere from 10-15 difference pieces of software over the course of their program. If we bought them all @ student prices, considering student versions are not allowed to be used for-profit, we would have a very expensive collection of useless software post-graduation.
Hello sir. I'm glad toon boom has a youtube channel because I have a question for you. When I make a file in toon boom animate pro 2 and save it, when i open it back up its not there and i cant draw anything...please help.
How on earth do you rotate shapes in the perspective?
Like they rotated the ground shape to be flat on the ground, I can't figure that out. IT shows up with a 3ds max style transform gizmo that I haven't even seen yet.
Flexible payment is still not helping me ;) hopefully I should get an iMac for mine and my wife's 40th birthdays, Christmas money plus some savings - by the end of the month. Unfortunately VAT has gone up and all your deals are in $ and not £. Where could I source the product in UK. All of them seem to be upgrades or student copies. No good to me! I take it that the price will not come down for home users :(
like this software but the files get massive ! Still not convinced there is a standard animation software out there that beats the old fashioned way of animating ! A cross between TVpaint and Toon Boom in one package would suit my needs !
@LifeBloodMarketing: As a job I develop software and believe it should be sold cheap in large qty's to home users. Businesses should pay the premium with support, etc. I'd like the features but not the price. How else can I learn and do the job that I want to do without the funds. I will have it one day but ToonBoom are not helping. Oh, I need a new PC as well.
@itchcitizen2 We have a permanent learning edition that enables users to learn the software, in additional to close to 10 hours of video tutorials totally free.
Animate Pro is for professional animators. If you are a home user, Toon Boom Studio might be a good alternative for you.
@ToonBoomAnimation I have animate pro 2 and it's a good tool. I'm using it to create a short film and it's helped me get lots of work done but I find myself wishing vector technology was more advanced and less heavy on my processor, I never create a scene longer than 10 seconds in Animate due to slow down and crashes. Maybe Animate pro 3 will improve vector performance but I won't be able to afford pro 3 till pro 4 is released.
@itchcitizen2 We would be really interested in seeing your work when you are ready. As for your technical question, have you posted your issue in the Animate Family User Forum? If not, I would recommend doing so.
Hmm, I got the email today... 1. USD is no use to me, I'd want to buy in UKP. 2. How much?!?! 3. What would I get for £50 ? I think without support that would be a reasonable price. :(
Never see offers in UK- I'm not a student, just a Dad that would like to do something interesting and creative with his son - I'm not an expert and could never afford this product. The free version is useful but not able to produce any final results for his friends. Looks like baking a cake is my only option !
I am very interested in purchasing this software. I am a student attending a university, so I have a lot of expenses to make as it is. You said you had flexible payment plans? If so, I am very interested to know how they work. If you could get back to me, that would be great. Thanks!

Can Toon Boom handle actual 3D objects/characters or does it just work with flat images?

@The80sKickAss Check out Harmony 9 video...You can definitely import 3D objects and manipulate them in conjunction with your 2D assets.

@kikyohatake The 3D Stereoscopic certainly works. The glasses you get with the DVD are not the right ones.
As far as pricing goes, we offer academic pricing. If you are a student, you are eligible. Please contact academic at toonboom dot com.
