  • Wow where have I seen a shuttle riding on the top of an airplane before, oh yeah the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! Fucking rip offs just like china.

  • @MegaDucky26

It could fly completely automatically and it even could fly. The Soviets had special detachable jet engine pods that could bebe attached by the tail, just like a DC-9 which means it could even fly under it's only power if it had to. THe thing that sucks is that Buran looks just like the Shuttle but it many ways it was actually better.

  • @MEATYOKERRable

better than the shuttle???? yeah right they only had 1 flight which means they must have had some serious problems with it.

  • @gxbmb

Yeah their country collapsed and they ran of damn money.....

  • @gxbmb

Also... "oh they couldn't afford to fly it, yeah they suck even more".... why did we just retire the shuttle in the first place? It's too damn expensive. We ourselves are going back to multiple stage rockets.

  • @gxbmb its features have better reliability and is better than the space shuttle

  • @mrvishal1000

yep cant argue with that they spent billions of rubles only to fly it 1 time

  • @gxbmb 1 flight because they didnt see it as economically viable and and ussr was collapsing at tht time everything was in a mess tht time.

  • @gxbmb u can see the differences and benifits, type buran program on wikipedia and go to the key differences part and read it.

  • @MegaDucky26 and u expect it to be ridden on top a of a donkey?, dude how the hell will u expect it be transpoted faster, so thts y they used the plane not a rip off of american style dumbass

  • @MegaDucky26

these people must be blind it looks just like the shuttle... only it flew once

  • buran is hyper cool man. It made a fuly automatic flight, for the 80s this is very impresive tech one thing i cant understand is why did something that can carry more weight go quicker than space shuttle and cleaner fuel and with such advanced technology get scrapped some of its stuff could have at least be incorporated to the new S shuttles. Especialy the brill energia booster. I even read this unlike S shuttle could go to the moon. We really ought to dust of the old blueprints & rebuild it!!!

  • @DoctorWhoMaster999 It was scrapped because the idea of shuttle is extremely cost-ineffective. Usual rockets costs about 10% (i.e. 10 times less) for the same weight to orbit compared to what shuttle would require.

  • Is there anything these filthy dishonest people didn't rip off from us????

  • @washboardblues From who?

  • @washboardblues Word! you are so right.

  • @arzamas1988 это правильно

  • but great video...

  • they 6 whos didnt like this video are NASA space shuttle program...

  • AWESOME...

  • The principal designers of the "Buran" never denied the fact that the appearance of it were partially copied from the American Shuttle because it is size allows good configuration for space flights.

  • only stupid little boy who don't know nothing about construction of these machine can say that Buran is a copy of space shuttle

    Read wiki, little boy.

  • Energia is the best launcher of all times. I fucking adore it!

  • Would have been amazing if this had carried on. This thing could lift more to orbit than the American shuttle. Imagine the ISS, but BIGGER!

  • This thing was awesomely powerful. Far more flexible and safer than the American shuttle. The rocket that it rode to orbit was also capable of being used without the shuttle and if it had been flown in its most powerful version it would have far exceeded even the Saturn V in raw lifting power. Such a shame the cold war ended. :P

  • @iman2341 So when why was the first flight unmanned

  • @theMuffinMan9999 *first and ONLY flight...

  • @theMuffinMan9999 why do u comment to yourself???

  • @theMuffinMan9999 Because they were testing a brand new space craft. Better not to risk peoples lives if they dont have to. The US shuttle couldn't be flown remotely so they had to put people up there on the first flight. A risky move for a very unsafe craft. :P

  • I agree with @gxbmb the buran DOES look like a cheap copy cat version of space shuttle...

  • @MakesTooMuchSense thanks for the support lots of people here just hate america so its nice to see someone look at the things with objectivity without the zombie "group think"

  • @gxbmb

keep up the good work telling the truth

  • @MakesTooMuchSense We had the first space station "MIR" and Yurij Gagarin, by the way Buran was full automatic!

  • @julden33

true... we now have an automatic space shuttle because it is cheaper to operate and safer... but ours isn't going to be only one time use I see it being used for decades to come... if u want to look it up its called the X-37B

  • @MakesTooMuchSense The "Buran-Energiya" project was canceled with the collapse of Soviet Union with many other programms( Ekranoplan for example) we,russians, feel very sorry about that! But it is a rules of capitalism:if it do not brings money- it is unusefull...

  • @MakesTooMuchSense And about X-37B, check out Mig 105...

  • @julden33

I checked it out... the Mig 105 is original but the X-37B is not a copy of it... they don't look a thing alike to me

  • @MakesTooMuchSense I just want to tell that almosst all soviet concepta was original, and ofcourse our intelligence work hard so yours till now! Check out "Ekranoplan"

  • @julden33

of course russia has original designs... just not this one in my opinion

  • @MakesTooMuchSense Go and learn something, read, you will find how Buran is different.

Completely different approach ,only similarity is shape of ship.

  • @MakesTooMuchSense but only LOOK LIKE. Soviets used this airframe cause it was in fact the most optimal aerodynamics. In fact, Russians also have used may better solutions, like jet engines for atmosphere, separateion of rocket and shuttle etc and I regret that they disbanded this programme, now after Shuttle cancellation it would be a great part of world aeronautics and space flights

  • @MakesTooMuchSense and you mama DOES look like a whore pussy!

  • @luka2298

cant argue with that logic genius

  • @MakesTooMuchSense

it's smarter then the shuttle. it is lighter as it has no titanium shields and can fly unmanned.

both shuttle and buran look like planes... that does not make them "cheap copy cat versions" of planes. it's simply the same answer to flying into orbit just like 2+2 has only one true answer.

did the samurai copy cat'ed the knights?

  • @MakesTooMuchSense

cheap? you don't like the colour? ask Xzibit to pimp it out for ya

  • @fofal

funny how they choose the same color even huh??? I figure if the russians want original they can choose pink

  • @MakesTooMuchSense I think that grocery store manager has a better technical education than you or maybe you are too young to discuss about machines

  • @MakesTooMuchSense Same colors??? LOL, black ceramic bottom is to radiate heat from Buran during entering atmosphere ("absolute black body" from physics class)

White top is to reflect Sun light and prevent overheating in space environment.Colors are not copy it MUST be like that.

  • @aluminumpropeler

U have seen pictures of the space shuttle havent you... buran and space shuttle is the same colors... yet more evidence buran is a copy

  • @MakesTooMuchSense I explained you reasons about colors,it must be like etc tail black lines are also under black colors because of heat ,man Buran does not have motors ,concept is totally different,it is copy like Porsche is copy of Ford, has four wheels, cabin, steering wheel, mirrors ,... that is your logic.

  • @aluminumpropeler Само къде мечти ти май са във черно?

  • @grozd102 I can't understand your comment

  • Great Video / Footage.

Always wondered what Sergei Korolev would have made of her, had he lived on into the 1980's / 1990's

(though if he had done Russia would probably now be aiming for mars ; )

  • @gxbmb Thumbs down, because Buran/Energia weren't

(the Visual Resemblence is purely that, Visual, as the US & USSR Designs are almost completely different).

  • @TSR1989FF

well visual designs are evidence that they had spies in the american space program.... no need to reinvent the wheel

  • Fantastic, thanks a lot for posting it, it´s the first time I see this images.

  • thumbs up if anyone else thinks they copied this from the space shuttle

  • copy paste modify american tech

  • @gxbmb not really copy and paste, their space program did this because US and a lot of countries always said russia was not advanced enough to build a space shuttle.....thats why they only used this thing like once and after that they retired it

  • @sovietskies69 common now.... it looks so much like the american version its like they got the plans on how to build their own... and they only used it once because its expensive to run this thing which is why we retired our own

  • @gxbmb its like saying all rockets look the same...what do you expect, its a shuttle how else can you build it? and when exactly did the Russians break into NASA and steal the shuttle documents? Because believe it or not its almost impossible to copy designs by looks

  • @sovietskies69 do Russians build things from stolen plans.... hmmmm YES

  • @gxbmb they never stole the plans for the shuttle. show me proof of this. you cant copy design by looks dumbass

  • @sovietskies69

    glad u asked...

the Russians built the buran AFTER america's space shuttle... and yes u can learn allot about air foils and angles by pictures alone... which is why lots of their aircraft looks like stuff we built previously... look at the havoc and the apache helicopters as another example. having said that copy paste was both ways during the cold war.. and is still that way... but the reason soviets copied the shuttle was partly to show that they could

  • @gxbmb ya you lost all credibility you had. if you know any basics about aerospace than you would know its almost impossible to copy by looks. otherwise every country would have an F-22 raptor or a B-2 bomber...they never copied anything. your just another ignorant dumbass talking out of your ass. you dont know shit.

  • @sovietskies69 ussr DOES have a copy of F22... the T-50

  • @gxbmb only they dont call themselves ussr anymore but same basic people are in charge... which is why russia elections are being protested

  • @gxbmb /quadruple facepalm....just shut the fuck up you sound beyond stupid. once again you cannot copy desings by looks, its impossible. The f-22 and pak-fa are nothing alike. do research before posting stupid shit

  • @sovietskies69

keep believing that soviets don't use spies.... the buran just happens to look so similar and it just has to be a coincidence... that and leprechauns exist

  • @gxbmb ...ok. and you keep believing shit with no evidence and stuff that makes no sense. now stfu and run along

  • @sovietskies69 I am sure soviets created their nuke weapons completely without spying on america too... dumbass

  • @gxbmb your a fucken moron. so far you said all this of your own pure speculation with no real evidence. shut the fuck up like i said you just sound stupid. if you knew anything you would know how retarded you sound when you said pak-fa is a f-22 copy

  • @sovietskies69 I hope someone else reads your rants.... then laughs because most people that look at the soviet nuke program sees espionage... without proof because america got nukes first... then they look at things like buran and compare it to the space shuttle and say to themselves.... hmmmmm those look almost identical daddy are they from the same country? no son one was a copy... and then dumb-asses say u dont have proof.... whatever have a nice life

  • @gxbmb like who? the other dumbass fanboys who says pak-fa is a copy but when you ask them to give you evidence then dont have shit to say? and I can guarntee you Russia had no spies in the US in 1945....NONE. they were too busy fighting the invading Germans. they built their own nukes, shuttle, and pak-fa. quit fucken posting dumbass shit. once against ITS YOUR PERSONALL SPECULATION. your a fucken moron with no knowledge except "OMG RUSSIA HAS SPIES EVERYWHERE' STFU idiot

  • @sovietskies69

    LOL

u seriously think that Russia never spied on america and got the nuke we developed in Manhattan project along with other tech? You make me laugh.... U a funny guy

  • @gxbmb nah your funnier of how clueless you are and how you still dont get how stupid and moronic you sound

  • @sovietskies69 Jackass... what u think of this documentary.... where they praise some guy for stealing the atom bomb from us as a hero... i must admit that I don't speak Russian but they seem proud they stole it...

    /watch?v=-XDjizJmvhU

  • @sovietskies69

thank god america invented this u tube contraption so some dumb ass can tell me to stop posting stuff.... HAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @gxbmb nice comeback...HAHAHAHAHA. idiot

  • @sovietskies69

here is the best comeback.... our space shuttle was WAY better than the sucky buran ;)

  • Comment removed

  • @sovietskies69

yep I am dumb as a box o rocks.... and u cant do nothing about it... nan nan nan nan nan naaaaaaaa but it wont help the buran be anything but a one time pony show

  • @gxbmb hahaha its ok dude. being a douche bag and blurting incorrect shit is maybe what you were meant to do :)

  • @sovietskies69 A russian Jew applied for a visa to leave for America. As his reason, he indicated that he had a brother in America who fell ill and needed help. The officials at the passport office said, "Then why won't your brother rather come over here?"

"My brother is sick, but he's not mentally sick."

  • @sovietskies69 A Russian, a Frenchman and an Englishman argued about Adam's nationality.

The Frenchman said, "Of course Adam was French. Look how passionately he made love to Eve!"

The Englishman said, "Of course Adam was British. Look how he gave his only apple to the lady, like a real gentleman."

The Russian said, "Of course Adam only could be Russian. Who else, possessing nothing but a sole apple, and walking with a naked ass, still believed he was in a paradise?"

  • @gxbmb ugh, are you alright? i dont understand what your trying to say there

  • @sovietskies69

well let me explain comrade... these are jokes making fun of Russians who think that Russia is or was the best place on earth to live. ;) My jokes basically say u are delusional.

  • @gxbmb delusional about what? I live in Cali and yes Russia is a misreable place to live, tell me something I don't know? All this shows me is your a stupid troll, and when I made you look stupid in the F-22/Pak-FA and the Burnan/shuttle thing, you just couldn't say anything else so you had to completely change the subject....your still dumb ass fuck by the way.

  • @sovietskies69

go ahead and live in denial... if u want to believe Russians didn't use spies to make the buran and first atom bomb... then believe that... who cares... have a nice life

  • @gxbmb ok, thats fine. I will live my life by actual facts and you live your life by personal bias speculation(and its not even good speculation) bye dumb fuck

  • @gxbmb You should document yourself ... For developing both technology US required a lot of help from German peoples ... and I'm not German, not Russian, and not American.

  • @76kiril

oh I don't deny we got lots of German scientist during WWII... but they all became Americans because Hitler pissed all over them.... and honestly would U have wanted to live under Stalin? even Stalin's own daughter defected

  • @gxbmb some people cant see the forest for the trees

  • @gxbmb the hate on this is just crazy.... dont hate dude

  • @goaheadmakemydaypunk

take it easy... I was just putting out an observation that this thing looks a lot like the space shuttle... doesn't mean it was but it sure looks like it and everyone got all uppity and hostile

  • @sovietskies69 your very naive if u think soviets didn't spy on america and steal plans

  • @gxbmb amen to dat!

  • This is the future in space conquest.Antonov 225

  • Thats power, it had a cabin that could be ejected and parachuted back to safety, entire flight was automatic, it could carry way more heavier payload than the american space shuttle, am it was launched by 4 Energia boosters that gave it awesome amount of speed. Too bad the break of Soviet union made the entire program collapse.

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • 1:45, AN-225, saw it in Kabul. FUCKING HUGE!!!!!!

  • Nosotros no hemos tenido sin embargo accidentes como el de desastres accidentándose nuestra tripulación.

  • @kyledm1011

Dude, Russia put the first man made satellite AND the first human being into orbit.

  • @MumboAus

And the first to land anything on mars and the first to land on venus (and then proceeding to cordially be crushed and melted there) and the first to build an airplane capable of supersonic flight (if it weren't for the straight wing setup, it actually would've broken the sound barrier, google BI-1) and the first to hit the moon with anything and the first jets (pulsejets) and the first to many more.

  • @MumboAus not russia but the union of soviets , its not the same rusha and soviets , because soviets

was union of Russia, Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova,Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan ,Kazakhstan ,Uzbekistan ,Turkmenistan ,Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan ,Estonia ,Latvia ,Lithuania

  • After the Discontinuing of the ISS. The New Ares V rocket will be able to Launch even LARGER modules in space! SKYLAB WILL BE REBORN! damn you guys should of seen the interior of that thing. Ares V will also be able to carry HUGE payloads into space, Russians can also pitch in in larger module design that is more comfortable for research on board.

  • those fucking copy cat mother fucking Russians stole our idea

  • @Kyledm1011 We'll they could have done several better, but then you'd have been pissed even more.

  • @ACEMAN220 No they couldnt thats why they stoped, russians dont know what the hell they are doing

  • @Kyledm1011 You will never be able to accomplish anything world changing. That makes me happy. =D

  • @ACEMAN220 I you dont like Americans then why are you an a site like You Tube that was made by Americans? Do yuou see any fucking russians making things like google or you tube? no then stfu...russians are piss poor always will be

  • @Kyledm1011 suck my balls asshole

  • I ve always wondered why the first and only one flight of Buran was unmaned ? And is there any possibility of refurbrishing Buran shuttles ? Without american shuttles there is much lack in orbital deliveries.

  • The Russians were quicker to realize how wasteful shuttles are and benched theirs before wasting billions unlike NASA. You don't need to throw up a DC9 sized airplane EVERY time you need to put people in space. 200 million per launch? Seriously? I wish scientists had money to blow like that! Sadly, only the military gets a blank check like that.

  • @Bill1275w

But the ISS big parts were brought up there by the shuttles. So it had a function.

  • @elpatriotaLX Rockets can and have done it cheaper and more safely.

  • Respond to this video...

  • @Bill1275w The shuttle is just a rocket strap-on.

  • Comment removed

  • They really should have taken better care of this historic machine.

  • the russian made a big lost

when the hangar where the buran is kept fell down

    and destroy the buran

  • in soviet Russian any spacecraft are build amazing !

  • The Space Shuttle program here in the U.S. turned out really well and was crucial to the construction of the international space station. Why did Russia not want to do the same? From the look of it they had everything in place but just decided not to go forward.

  • In this video is on Energia-rocket attached Polyus, not Buran!!!

  • Comment removed

  • The last preserved Buran -a prototype- is in the "Technical Museum Sinsheim", location Speyer in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.

  • @wheelspinoboom

In the German museum is the "Buran" BTS-002, which were held on 24 flight with the purpose of completing an automatic landing. By the way, the museum is not the layout, and the real BTS-002. After repair and technical inspection, he can fly again.

  • "Buran" was an expensive project. One run of "Buran" was worth more than the American space shuttle. So, still in development it was clear that the "Buran" is doomed.

Later, NASA said that the "Buran" is the best achievement created by mankind.

  • Energia is a out-of-this-world rocket, just like Saturn V ! It's so sad Buran was destroyed on ground by a stupid hangar collapse: Rebuild it!

  • Proud to be part Russia.

  • Looks like "The Messiah" space shuttle in the 1998 movie the "Deep Impact" . By the way , "Buran" means "Snowstorm" in Russian .

  • would have been nice to see the Russians compete with Americans with a spacecraft like this. The Soyuz is great and reliable but I don't think it quite captures the public imagination like a Buran

  • Жалко, што ево уже не запустить(

  • Russia has some pretty cool tech and I think the Buran looked pretty solid. The International space station is a great example of what can be done if we all get along and work together! I wish there were more projects where the people of the world could share it's technology for everyone's benefit. I'm from USA and I wish our friends from Russia all the best! =)

  • @radempire Same! I'm from the US also! I wish the Russians continued with the Buran... the ISS would have been bigger and cheaper if Russia was also bring up bigger parts for the ISS.

  • @radempire International Space Station you say? First you destroyed our space station MIR, our space shuttle BURAN, now you want to be friend with us?

  • @zloj11 it wasn't him. it was the government

  • @radempire i see first non-joking about Russia American and thanks for the good words

  • Oh mien liebe americans, Buran is the greates russian space tech, not so american shuttles, buran had the best autolanding system, engines, you saw that is it, buran demanstrate russian principle:"They have it, we should have better". All people in russia are evil and genious, they hate democracy, tolerance, we like Stalin and hate americans, we make the best stuff to destroy WRAGINA/

  • @toocoolforu: I guess your coolness has failed this time.

    1. Russian space technology: please take a look at the space station. You will find that the service module Zvezda (providing air, electricity, water) is a russiann one. Escape modules: Soyuz. Do the name Gagarin or Korolev sound familiar?

    2. On spying: Operation Moolah, U2, Black Bird, MIG29-s bought by the USA... Does any of this sound familiar to you?

I suggest you take another look.

  • some of these comments are rubbish let me get this out

    1. usa came up with shuttle before soviet union did

    2. buran was slightly better equiped compared to the usa version

    3. usa version does have auto pilot however rarely used

    4. russian version used different type of fuel compared to the us version

    5. russian version had a better weight ratio compared to the us version

no ifs ands or butts, no replies will be answered back cause these are facts, good day pple.

  • @1988AVH Don't forget the rockets. "Energya" can carry up to 230 tons. The shuttle rocket 130tons or less, im not sure.

If the USA and Russia became allies in the space exploration we will reach Mars in 2020 :)

  • @1988AVH

U can answer or not it doesnt matter, cuz u dont know the history.

    1. yes, and no. yes but they came 1 year before su it has. and no, cuz su had allready spiral (/watch?v=ufsQQDMVmG0)

    2. yes

    3. bullshit, autopilot came by americans between 1984-1995, but not 1975.

    4. yes, like we always doing.

    5. yes 200 tonns of buran/energia to 105 tonns of ss

  • this is wht the us are gowing with??? damm

  • First time saw Buran's engines working

  • @jasper5554 The space shuttle is fully automatic on re-entry too...

  • Copy cats soviets. Typical mentality of communism = spying is cheaper than research
