Religion both has its negatives and positives. Yes it can very well create violence, but it turn it does help create hope for some people. I've met some of the nicest happiest people who've had shit lives but are still happy because of religion, so it's not all bad. Some people just need to feel a reason to live. In the end it all depends on the person and the way they see/use religion.
Myself, I'm atheist. I've just simply learned to respect other people's views. :)

Now I think it's useless, I have made it through all my personal tragedies without religion, and have never prayed for others and it works fine. Religion both has its negatives and positives. Yes it can very well create violence, but it turn it does help create hope for some people. I've met some of the nicest happiest people who've had shit lives but are still happy because of religion, so it's not all bad. Some people just need to feel a reason to live. In the end it all depends on the person and the way they see/use religion.
Myself, I'm atheist. I've just simply learned to respect other people's views. :)

Well, it is a source of hope and inspiration for countless numbers. Now I think it's useless, I have made it through all my personal tragedies without religion, and have never prayed for others and it works fine. But many DO use it as a source of strength for them, especially in rough times. Problem is it does breed a lot of ignorance and violence as you said.

Religion in its simplest form provides a good base for culture and civilization, allowing large groups to form a family-like bond or at least cooperate better than a normal town. Basically, like anything else, religion in excess =/= good. However, it does allow for philosophy and patronage of arts (example: Michelangelo was repeatedly hired by the church, even though he didn't care much for them he still took the jobs because hey, cash).

The Human Body is so complexly built it is impossible for it all to be created without someone creating it. That's like a perfected machine beyond our comprehension being blown together in a sandstorm, and then perfectly placed resources to keep the machine running where magically set down so perfectly that if moved at all destroyed the machine, but didn't somehow for all this infinite time...

If our body was a perfected machine, why does it contain organs that are totally useless, like the appendix? Why do we die of all kind of diseases? Why, for example, is the sensoric apparatus of many animals far superior to human´s? There is neither perfection nor absolutism, but relativism.
