  • NO ORIGINAL

  • @julian55538 yes, it's the original. I have a link to the code as well (or rather the page with the original code)

  • its sounds really old.:p

  • @waindrop67 That's relative... but yeah.

  • This is so mindlessly mesmerising! lol. I remember back in the day, this made it onto news channels, and practically everyone was talking about it. I would leave this up in the background on my computer while surfing the "world wide web" (as it was known in dinosaur times, lol). I think it drove my family nuts, because after a while, you tune it out and forget it's on (they didn't). Thank you for posting this video! There were others spawned from it, but this is the only one that remains.

  • @SataiDelenn well, some others are still there. This one morphed into what the site is today. They have a tiny section of what resembles this, but it's just not the same.

  • I have been looking for this song for 2 FUCKING YEARS!

Now I can finally blast it from the speakers in my car in suburban neighborhoods.

  • @FriendlyPedoNeighbor You can get the original whistle stop song, chop it and speed it up if you want to try get get more quality out of it. Not sure that's what you are looking for, but just blabbing.

  • @FriendlyPedoNeighbor lol, just grab it from the link. The sound on this vid is crap.

  • dabadepbahdididdodo deeedapdididdoooo dedelededaded derp a herpa dibbblayday doooooooo haha

  • @TehW00terMan little more practice and you could make the X Factor or something.

  • Thumbs uo if u got here because of nyan caxx xD

  • @AlwaysABunny who's nyan? I'll search for the name, but just wondering.

  • @CraniumOnEmpty Nyan Cat*

  • @RunescapeTOOm Yeah, I saw it after that. Interesting.

  • @AlwaysABunny hahahahaha man nyan caxx was a bit of a trip...

  • @SnowShackboy Yeah, I found it. The end where she's puking rainbow is kind of cool.

  • webhamster (dot) com for the original site

  • boring....LOL!!!

  • i know it gows over and over again

  • how long is this i dont get it

  • Ahh the Meme that started it all lmfao when i was in kindergarten our gym teacher made us run laps and this song played me and my friends started dancing circles around the feild she was pisssedd haha

  • @Lvl60Slayer Yeah, I'm probably old enough to have been a young gym teacher at the time. I kind of liked the site though.

  • i have to turn up my deaf-aid XD

  • @MysterioBerlin Yeah, it's a crappy recording. Didn't have a decent cam or PC at the time. There is a link to where the source was from in the underbar if you want to download it.

  • guys its says 2009 but the song is form 1997.....

  • @richardtda Dude, the original site is from around 1997, way before youtube. This video is newer. I just stuck a camera up to the pc at the time and uploaded it.

  • It just goes over and over and over again

  • @22ROFLMFAO22 Yep, just like the original website. It was just a looped wav file and a bunch of gifs. Back then that was the shit. Now it's nothing much to look at. This is more for nostalgia.

  • @22ROFLMFAO22 In 1997 we had 133 MHz pentiums (some were still stuck on 66 MHz 486s) with only 16 or 32 meg of RAM, and slow 28 or 33 kbit/sec connections

    .

This was all our computers could handle

    .

  • @electrictroy2010 most didn't have any form of DSL or anything either, so a lot of the bottleneck was the connection even with the slow ass computers we had. I remember one time taking hours to download a gif (well, that might have been some time before this) just to watch about 20 frames of stuff. The same gif now even on the slowest of connections is a flash comparatively. Actually, you can download a really bloated flash in less time.

  • @electrictroy2010 Yeah I remember growing up in the fruit-rollup age, as Day9 states it. Being born in 1992 I would have been 5 when I saw this. I just love how this song remindes me I was the only one who used a computer I could run laps around it before my dad figured out what windows meant.

  • This reminds me of Lynn - Yes you were a Hamster!!

  • @ludwigvonsteampole1 uh, what?

  • Hahaaa!! I remember this!!! My grandma and grandpa showed this to me when i was little and i loved it! I couldn't stop watching it! LOL. Thanks for uploading!! I haven't seen this in like 10 years! =D

  • @NieneJonasHorses cool, glad you liked it. Check out the underbar for the link to the code... well, haven't checked it in a while, but I think it still works.

  • it says 2009

  • @superbird99999 What says 2009?

  • WOW,

this is just the Whistle Stop (by Roger Miller) sped up.

It's the part where does a little scat

  • @Pelicomics Yep, that's why I put it in the underbar, so people would know where it came from. Some people don't realize that the original hampster dance was simply this, a bunch of gifs and a wav looped. Not so dynamic, but it was interesting enough at the time.

  • @CraniumOnEmpty Sorry, didn't read description.

I have respect for you for doing this,

I don't know if this is worth anything but here's a subscribe and a like

  • @Pelicomics lol, well, you might want to check out other vids before you sub. I've got a bad sense of humor and don't particularly please a lot of people. You won't insult me if you unsub in the future... well, if I ever get another camera that is.

  • Finally. I've been re-looking for this for some time. And all the "originals" I find are that re-mix one.

  • @pemdas927 Yeah, that's because the new website doesn't have the old version. I tried to get them to post it (after I had a talk with them over the copyright and stuff), but they only have a modified version of it... well, modified so it doesn't really resemble it. There is a link in the underbar for the site I got it from if you check it. I haven't clicked it in a while, so let me know if it's not there anymore. I may have to figure out something.

  • Is that Hamtaro I see up there? :O

  • @oXHeartAttackXo Probably not. It's possible that the same person drew it, but Hamtaro didn't come out until 2000. This is pre2000. I'd research it more thoroughly, but someone designed this pc with the pcmcia card right next to the processor and the heat transference keeps killing my connection.

  • Wtf this aint the actuall song its the same thing over and over again lol wtf

  • @KacperSC This is the song from the original website... Have you ever been to the original or to the one that is there now? The original was just a bunch of gifs and a wav looping over and over... That's it. This video represents that.

  • why the frick is there almost 5 minutes of the same thing?/?????

  • It's from the original website... You didn't actually watch the whole thing did you?

  • The first website ever.

  • @orionx910 not really, but probably the first real internet meme.

  • It's frickin' awesome!

  • @9n01 glad you.. uh, enjoy it so much... please clean the keyboard after usage. ;p

  • hahaha i remember seeing the original website all those years ago.

  • @TimmyB760 well, I hope it was good memories...

  • Aw those memories :)

  • @likeIwilltellyou glad I could help... uh, with something

  • I want my 4:52 sec of my life back

  • @PanfuBigFan don't tell me you watched the whole thing... sucks to be you...

  • (L)

  • @mauricepns Awww, that's sweet, i love you too... ;p

  • What memories...I remember wasting many hours in college on this site watching this!!!

  • @deadduderc75 yeah, it can pass time and kill brain cells

  • LOUDER I CANT HEAR IT!!!!!!!!

  • @SuperLowe1 Yeah, I had a crappy cam at the time... that's also why I put the link in the underbar...

  • @CraniumOnEmpty sorry man my 6year old sister was on my account

  • The original of the opening of Robin hood cartoon is so much better

  • @Walterengcivil lol, yeah, this wasn't really meant to inspire, the person did it as a dare (or was it a joke, I can't remember the details anymore) originally, and it became an internet meme

  • The internet was so innocent back then, I was 9 the 1st time i went to this page.

I thought it was the greatest thing ever...

  • @morelibations still much younger than I was, so be happy... ;p

  • revolutionary

  • @r46n4r I did it myself... well, after recording what someone else did

  • stealing songs and speeding up the pitch, a true internet success story

  • @YeddiBoy yep

  • The new site SUCKS! It only plays the first 2 bars of the original song and repeats! Crap on that!

  • @angelswilliam lol, that's how it was originally on the site. The new site is the one that has changed. If you check the link to where the code was, you can see how the original site was. It was just a sound bite and gifs playing over and over.

  • I've been looking all over for this site and couldn't find it. THANK YOU!!!

  • @angelswilliam if you look in the description, there is a link to the code too.

  • you spelt 'hampster' wrong (hamster)

  • @blything553 actually, it was originally called that because of the original creator. She called it "hampster" because of her hamster named "Hampton".

  • you spelt HAMSTER wrong :P

  • @blything553 That's how the new "owners" spell it. They explain it on their web site. They suck, and I'm not saying that because of the spelling of hamster. I'm saying it because of what they did to the original.

  • @angelswilliam the owners spell it that way because the original creator did. She named it after her hamster called Hampton.

  • Thanks for posting this. I started singing this song in the car today, so my 5 year old wanted to see hamsterdance-but on the original website-there was no sound. I always new the song sounded similar to the Robin Hood theme song-thanks for the info.

  • @timlovesmusic1975 Cool, no problem. There is a link in the description to the site I got it also.

  • i miss this thing so much....

  • @stevenwlkr That's why it's here. The new site lacks a bit. I thought they were going to put the original somewhere on the site, but maybe they had a second though and didn't want to break the look they have now.

  • I've always found the "Copyright" amusing, considering that the song (Whistlestop) belongs to Disney, and the 4 animated GIFs were "borrowed" from other people's websites with not even an attribution. While I enjoyed the Hampster Dance craze since day one; putting it as the browser homepage on hundreds of company computers, and generally terrorizing friends and family members with it... the whole thing was ruined when it went commercial.

  • They even made a miniature online children's cartoon, and birthday cards that played a short clip of a more-original hampster dance song when opened.

  • @agvulpine lol, so many things you can do with a little bit of craziness. That's funny.

  • @agvulpine Yeah, I'm not sure I agree with the copyright either, but I'm not willing to do anything about that. If anybody was really going to do something about it, it would have been Disney, but they never stepped in. Well, they are making money off of it, and can't really blame them for doing it. That's what we do apparently.

  • I totally remember this, and it was considered very high tech at the time. lol. Brings back memories.

  • @jfluter Yeah, especially since it wasn't too long after the internet was just billboards and taking a day to download a simple gif. This page as simple as it was kind of showed people that more could be done then just nice looking text pages.

  • like dose anyone no where dose this came well i just read justinsmittys commment and yeahh hes rigth lmao

  • @kingpin7224 I have all that information in the description if you want to find it.

  • LOL! no THIS was the original :D : Stop Whistle by roger miller

  • @justinsmitty308 I think it was called "Whistle Stop", but yeah, this was the first one that everyone stormed. The people at the current site said they would post the original, but I'm still waiting for it.

  • Thanks for sharing - I really missed this simple original page :) Instant fave!

  • @NeuroticPixieSlasher np.. I put it here for me mostly (I'm so selfish) but am glad so many others like it.

  • @CraniumOnEmpty *GASP* ZOMG teh drama! X)

  • @NeuroticPixieSlasher lol, don't assphyxiate over it.

  • haha ya i guess theres a little pwnage there! oh well we want people NOT to comment on matters they know nothing about, in regard to our business. We've been VERY gracious (so far) in allowing the amount of use of our track as there is. But the record labels are geting a little tired of the song used as public domain. we'll see how they handle it. Will talk with you soon dude on moving ahead with cranium and us working with the old, on the new site. PWNAGE!!! PWNAGE DUDE!!!!! cheers G@H-fans

  • Shit was from robin hood.

    You kiddies are so misinformed.

  • @bloodblackwyrm I take it you don't know how to read descriptions?

  • This is so 1990's.

  • @flakelorenz02 lol, that's the whole point.. nostalgia

  • I REMEMBER THIS WEBSITE!!!!!! OMG I REMEMBER DANCING WITH MY BRO'S TO THIS

  • @TheBeastRhino There's a dance to this?

  • not the same without dial-up...

  • @ohjeeztower Ha! lol... Man, that comment just brightened my morning. Yeah, it's really not, but now that you brought that up, I can appreciate this computer a little more even though it's on the slow end and has a bad connection. It's still hundreds of times faster than the first PC I watched that thing on.

  • Man I remember when this was one of the biggest things on the internet where I lived. Good times.

  • @N1kkisD3ad I remember my sister watching it so many times I had to kick her off the computer. Now I like to watch it once in a while.

  • OMG I remember this website! ^_^

  • @choirfreak26 that's why it's here... helps people to remember the past. Well, it's mostly here for me, but it helps others too.

  • the ancient rick roll

  • @fatherlewis hampster rolled... ;p

  • wowo that site is weirdd, lol its funny tho, lol ^.^

  • @randomgrrlnex2u that's old school internet for you.

  • @CraniumOnEmpty eh i know, i dont care...

  • @randomgrrlnex2u #LOL but you continue to comment... you know you secretly love it...

  • @CraniumOnEmpty secretly love what??? o.O

  • @randomgrrlnex2u it was a joke about the site that this video represents. I don't think you actually love it. It was more like sarcasm.

  • 5 minuti con sto criceto che sembra ubriaco? che palllleeeeee!!!!!!!

  • @magic24rich Se hai visto il sito originale, continua solo per sempre.

  • FWIW, the song is "Whistlestop" as performed by Roger Miller for the Disney "Robin Hood" animated feature. The song keeps its original lyrics but has been reprocessed digitally to raise the pitch. The "Disney connection" is what put Hampton and the Hampsters off the air for quite a while until licensing issues could be resolved.

  • @Mewkychan I said something about that in the desc "The original song is "Whistle Stop" by Roger Miller which was adapted by Disney in "Robin Hood" (the cartoon)". I will think about putting that other bit of info in there though... Hmm, plus maybe I should say "adopted" instead of "adapted".

  • @Mewkychan As we are the creators and producers of the Hampsterdance Song and video that became a global hit , and still is, this is factually incorrect. There was no "Disney connection" that prevented or kept the track off the air. The sample was licensed directly from Millers estate and his publisher Sony. Both endorsed the dance record, and both have recieved publishing royalties since the day it was released. Please confirm your facts with Hampsterfans before you publish something.

  • @Hampsterfans Thank you much for the info... lol, why does that seem like a pwnage comment/

  • autor?

  • @Milesprowerz Originally it was created by Canadian art student Deidre LaCarte for geocities, but grew into a huge internet meme.

  • what tha fuck?

  • @wwwKx which part... oh, wait, it just loops for the full 5 minutes

  • dude we made the thing and wow this is torture! 5 mins???? yikes

  • @Hampsterfans lol, the original site just went on and on and on... people would play it just to annoy the shit out of people, but some genuinely liked to listen to it. Go figure.

  • The weird old days of the internet... when very little was possible, but everything was allowed.

  • @BeefBoullionaire Actually a lot was possible, because the internet grew from it. Granted speed had to be increased. Standards had to be made so that everyone could see things the same, but just as much was possible... well, in a way. If you tried to load some of the pages we have today, it would take days instead of seconds. I remember taking a few hours out of a day for a stupid gif of a money pissing in his mouth. It was before 97, but we still did stupid things from time to time.

  • Nice description !!! Thx for the info!

  • @fghacbs No problem... I mean, what would the net be if this thing ever died out?

  • DEAR GOD!

    WHAT WAS W3 CONSORTIUM THINKING!!

    still nostalgia though

  • CREAPY!! that "haha" sound!

  • @danielalenz Have you seen the old Disney animation movie for Robin Hood? That's where the music comes from. It's just sped up a bit.

  • What did i do before this clip. Now my life has meaning. lol

  • @susan50reid yes, those hamsters can really take up a lot of time...

  • this was the ORIGINAL virul "video". I remember a commercial, that introduced me to Hamsterdance. it showed other little known websites. the thing is, i forgot who made that commerical. it's a big company i know that.

  • @Rac665 Earthlink made a commercial with it. Is that who you were thinking of?

  • Good God, five minutes of this crap???

  • @dantheman931 it's kind of my payback for having to watch it when I was younger... though I still do get some nostalgia out of it. So, a win-win for me.

  • I liked the seasonal changes they made to the page back then too... Santa hats in December for example. The pure silliness was a great break in an otherwise ho-hum or stressful day. Thanks for the memories.

  • @Eclecktic np

  • i cant hear it mabye u should do it again and turn it up plz thank you

    this song rocks!

  • @these2people I redid it, but you can also go to the site I have in the links where I got it from for the original clip.

  • jou do retry

  • @richardtda ok

  • My 8th grade science teacher played this one time FOR AN ENTIRE HOUR back in 1998...its weird how I still remember the song.

  • @Justmatt1 well, it's a really short clip and sounds really weird. I'm not surprised you remember it.

  • k cobron eres

  • :D i remember this.

  • @rdirnancgoo cool

  • Haha! I wish this site was there instead of that silly flash site! I miss this one as well as fishdance. There were quite a few ____dance sites. :)

  • There is a link in the sidebar to an old version... let me know if it doesn't work...

  • @bandgeekak87 yeah, I haven't gotten around to trying to collect them, but I'll get around to it one day

  • this is a true classic internet page.. one of the first days of the internet, when my school got internet, instead of doing research, we would go to pages like this and enjoy class time.. haha, good times. you have to try MUCH harder to get attention on the internet nowadays.

  • you've got that right...

  • @shinviroz Just hack the schools internet and watch porn in the middle of class, o-o.

  • wtf this is some gay shit

  • at the time it wasn't, but yeah, it's pretty simple now. It's more for the nostalgia than anything.

  • Web 1.0

  • well, it's definitely not 2.0

  • O_O.....it just goes on singing the same thing.........

  • lol, the original site (and the repost of it) is just a bunch of gifs and a wav file that is looped. So yes, it repeats itself until you stop...

  • @CraniumOnEmpty

Oh really I never knew that :]

  • glad I could... uh, help. I think. ;p

  • @tomamymel Yeah, it's old school internet

  • i cannot believe this is that old 0_o

  • and I can't believe that '97 is considered that old... lol

  • i cant believe its not butter

  • I can't believe it lands butter side down
