  • There was weight in that thing, right?

  • steroids. Big time.

  • bad bench press technique, great strength

  • Vlasov is real athlet like those of an ancient Greek time- isuperb both in ntellect and in power

  • I dont have a spotter so I too lift from the bottom up...I grab the barbell, lay down on the bench while still holding it..and than press up. i actually like this way of traing better.

  • Also note how he starts his first rep from his chest? Thats super hard to do!

  • Hes probably the heaviest man to ever to a one arm chin up, he weighed 280lb when he could do it!

  • In his latest interview Yuri said "Take steroids away from weightlifting or take weightlifting away from the olympics". In 2004, at age 69, he took part in veteran's competitions and was able to lift 185 kg!!! Have you ever seen that stable results in people using steroids? most of them are dead on the age of 40!!!

  • most of the abusers are dead by 40, the smart guys live just as long or longer.

  • Was this when the soviets used steroids (werent illegal so dont point fingers). Because i can see him as using steroids to get that far, in no way am i beratting him at all, hes an idol of mine. Im just wondering if he did or not. Sounds like he didint.

  • He claimed that his coach tried to sneak him steroids by offering them as "medecine" when he was sick. Yuri, right now, is a very major opponent against steroids. Which, of course, doesnt necessarily mean very much. But at least we know he doesnt like the idea of using them, however possible it is that he did use them. I like to believe he didnt, however.

  • the way he lifted that was effortless

  • Whats so inspirational about Vlasov was that he wasn't born a really strong guy, he trained hard to be able to do this!

  • Really? I never new that, thats pretty awesome. Where did you hear this?

  • Yep, 405 pounds easier than i've seen people do 250 at the gym I go to...ridiculous.

  • And look at that range of motion, MAKES ME DROOL! friggin close grip to.

  • This alien monster could overhead press 200 kg, and then the same squat and snatch.

  • Yep, that is the guy who beat Paul Anderson

  • @PashaGolikov

He never beat Anderson. Anderson would have crushed this guy like a raw egg. As a matter of fact, the Soviets were so afraid of Anderson that they refused to send anyone to oppose him at the 1956 Olympics. Vlasov was a true badass but Anderson was like something from another galaxy.

  • it looked so easy!~

  • That's 180 kilos.

  • 1961 ...i think

  • when was that?
