  • This is great! I heard a '75 version of this, it just sounded like "Dogs" but primordial; this sounds like a different song which became "Dogs" -- exactly what it is, and I love listening to it!

  • 5:03 wonderful daydream!

  • this version in more folydian, more progressive and less 80's-style!

  • A great recording. I have the LP Autumn Tour 74 (poor sound quality but nice sleeve) and saw them at Liverpool and Manchester They played Shine On You Crazy Diamond, You Gotta Be Crazy, Raving and Drooling, Dark Side Of The Moon (complete in order) with Echoes for the encore on both nights. I also saw the awesome Knebworth 1975 performance with the Spitfire, with Roy Harper singing Have A Cigar .

  • I love to hear the old stuff live

  • This one and raving and drooling live are gonna be on the new remaster of Wish You Were Here in december. I can't fucking wait for that.

  • that's something of wonderful!

  • where I can find the audio of this video,,,please help me

  • @pagcone Here. Download to RealPlayer, then there's a convert option under the track, & choose the MP3 option.

  • Live versions of You Gotta Be Crazy and Raving and Drooling are gonna be included in the upcoming remaster/special edition of Wish You Were Here

  • this song was perfect the way it was in 74'. music, lyrics, and the way it was sung were all excellent. I really hate the changes they made to it in 1975. Dogs {acutal release} is ok, but the lyrics of You've Got To Be Crazy are so much better

  • Thanks for the reply. I think the song maybe green is a color but it did go into becareful with that axe. was this recording from wembley?

    thanks again, john

  • love this 74' version. I don't like the tweeking they did to it for the 1975 US tour though. Gilmour's vocals,Waters bass parts, and Rick's organ all amazing here. I think the original lyrics fit the concept of "dogs" better than what they actually released in 77'. I like "dogs" but it sounds like crap compared to this

  • does anybody still have this on album , I,m looking for be careful with that axe eugene from this concert, the music on earth. regards john

  • @jgs000 I saw this tour at Wembley in 74 ...don't recall Careful with Axe being played...but yeah I have this on vinyl

  • I really hope they eventually release there dsom tour and in the flesh tour with good audio and on itunes/cd

  • @happyface4444 That would be so amazing. I wanna know how they played live back then kind of odd such a popular band has very few live videos online.

  • Thanks a lot for posting. I had (and still have) this on bad quality tape and now I now where it originated from. Super-superb organ from Rick Wright (Rick R.I.P.) @ 05.00 to 6.30.

  • I like Roger Waters whiny singing.

  • I like Roger singing the "As you lose control" part in this version, although Dave does a good job in the released version of Dogs.

  • def never heard this one,thx SO much for adding it sounds GREAT

  • This is my favorite song version right now! I love this! especially the end of part 1 where roger is singing. Roger Waters is the man and anyone that thinks otherwise can stfu

  • it's fucking amazing i love this version

  • I once had this recording on an elpee. With emphasis on had.

So good to see this here.

  • what's the name of the album? I mean, the bootleg version...

  • I think Raving Crazy Diamond Moon maybe, I had the bootleg cd of this on my ipod before it crashed and I lost all my bootlegs :( My favorite was a us and them from before dark side that was done in some random club.

  • the name of this bootleg is "Getting Better All the Time"

after Raving and Drooling (Part 2 ), the taper or someone near him says "they're getting better all the time"

  • @chrisocony ...I have this on Tour 74..which also has the original 20 min version of Shine on ...seen a few boots with Raving and Drooling + You Gotta be Crazy but the Shine on is split in to sections...Saw this tour twice at Wembley and the following year at Knebworth ...was just amazing.

  • Check out pf dash roio b0t de for a full list of PF boots :)

  • btw b0t is a period, I have to do this silly crap because YT censors ANY comment that has anything that even implies an url.

I had a later version of this song, I think from 75 or 76. Sounded significantly different. I never heard this version. Very nice!

  • This is the kinda stuff I love to listen to.

  • god i love this version. rick wright is so magical on his organ. just wonderrfull music that puts u in that different place all the time!

  • its as if this was a jazz session. pretty good for a demo that would become one the best 'floyd songs.

  • this version is so much better than the album version

    just awesome!

  • great to hear this weird version, it is an interesting vision into one of my favorite Floyd songs....

  • i wish david would sing clearer

the lyrics are great, maybe better than they are on the the album

  • They are different. Dogs's lyrics were tweeked to better fit into the Animal farm theme of the album.

  • is the dark side of the moon section of this gig recorded?

  • seems at 2:23 hes just mumbling

    but still a great song

  • It's really interesting to me how on this new song Gilmour had such a clear vision of the solos that they're nearly identical on "Animals."

  • The band use to play tracks much before they came out on any album. Some never came out actually. Like Embryo... I read an interview with David where he said that today music is very different and you don't have the advantage to invent songs on the way, on the stage...something like that :)

  • well what were you expecting?

  • Incredibly Interesting, Thanks for posting.

  • Been a lot of problems, pent `'.

  • Thanks so much for adding this.

Me encanta esta canción, ademas es una versión muy antigua que yo no he escuchado nunca.

  • this is awesome except the singing of gilmour in the beginning it seems sloppy

  • does anyone know the bass notes for this tune. If anyone culd tell me them, I wuld be eternally greatfull.

  • U have to tune down i know that for sure- i forget though try a tab

  • This one isn't tuned down. The Dogs version is, though

  • This really is just incredible...lol, in a way I wish I hadn't heard it because I've always loved Dogs. Now, every time I listen to that album I'll want to hear this instead.

For me, when Gilmour's voice raises at the end of his verses that just sounds so cool. Thanks so much for adding this.

  • @Mcfishmeister I've got to agree, the original lyrics were far better than the released lyrics of "Dogs" There are a few tracks where I really don't get why they changed the lyrics. Eh, oh well both versions are great but I definitely like this version much better.

  • for all those "roger was pink floyd and roger only" sayers out there, here is an example of the MUSIC coming before the final say on lyrics.

  • just AWESOME!

  • After listening to this, the Dogs version seems forced. Like the Floyd made some changes they shouldn't have in order to make the song fit the "animals" metaphor. Both versions chrisocony has posted are far superior and sound far angrier to me.

  • @veebleschmertz the more emotion the better

  • Nice and bluesy...not to chunky...Mellow...

  • this is fucking amazing! =O

  • Very nice! It's interesting that Waters does much if not all of the singing on this.

I never imagined "Dogs" done this way. It is definitely more psychedelic, and a throwback to the "Careful with that Axe..." style of Floyd.

  • i don't think thats intentional though because they hated the ''Space Rock'' image they aquired in the late 60's and spent 3 albums trying to get away from it and even on the meddle tour refused to play stet the controls etc.

  • This is absolutely brilliant, i.m.o. far better than the Dogs from animals, a bit more floydish and emetional.

  • Funny thing about the 5 minute mark that MastaFetus mentioned...it sounds a bit like "Careful With That Axe Eugene" or, vocally, similar to some moments from "More." Interesting that this early performance sounds ahead of its time for 74, yet shows a bridge to the earlier Floyd that (at least I don't hear) the 77 version lacks.

  • wow thats different!

  • Great stuff from Floyd's history. Thanks.

  • the bass and singing around 5:00 should have made it in the album.. that bassline sounds better than the album one

  • it's why pink floyd came here

it's why the sains are coming

    it's why the skids

    it's a bottle in a genie

  • thanks for leading me to this gem. Now all I need is too see your picture :D

    ~Myche

  • great song, a bit of pinball wizard about this version
